- Rossum Corporation asks the Dollhouse to send a large contingent of actives to a college campus to retrieve an experimental memory drug. The drug brings out suppressed memories which affect everyone, including the actives. Echo's origins are revealed.—Jesse Sanchez
- A student dies after he becomes infected from a memory and behavior modification drug which releases inhibitions and suppressed memories. The drug is undergoing testing by the Rossum Corp, one of Dollhouse's major contributors so, as head, Clive Andrews asks that most of the actives be assigned to quarantine the campus and find the missing vial. He believes they would be immune to the effects. Echo, on another assignment as 'Alice' sees the TV News coverage of the story and feels impelled to go there. She experiences flashbacks, during which more of Echo's true identity as the activist, Caroline, is revealed. Her flashes show that she and her boyfriend break into the university lab to videotape animal cruelty. Her boyfriend is shot and Caroline's hospitalization leads to her recruitment by Dollhouse. As the current situation of the quarantine spirals out of control, Boyd, Dominic, and non-dolls succumb to the drug and display uninhibited and childlike behaviors. At the Dollhouse, Topher and Adelle search for an antidote and test the pathogen on Millie but they succumb to the affects. As exposure increases, even the actives react to the drug. Their memories should have been erased, but when they surface, create additional problems. The drug does wear off eventually. Boyd recovers Echo and Sam Jennings, the other student who conspired to sell the drug to a competitor of Rossum, undergoes the 'recruitment' process for the Dollhouse.—matt-282
- The episode starts with flashbacks from previous episodes where the "sleeper" (Mellie) is activated (by a call from Adelle) and kills the handler who raped Sierra at the Dollhouse who was sent to deal with Mellie by Adelle. Ballard comes in and holds her. Another falshback is of Ballard being supended. The final flashback is of Echo from the first episode with her client racing motorcycles.
Caroline (Echo) is offered tea by Adelle in a room with a big table. They talk about the offer Adelle is making to Carloine, the five year deal with a new life at the end. Adelle mentions that she and Caroline have been "doing this dance" for two years. She pours tea and pushes the cup over to Caroline who has complined that she has been there, where that place is, for two days against her will. She mentions the Rossume Corporation. Adelle tells here "nothing is as it seems."
Two students go into a laboratory and find a third student on the floor talking and opening jars of flies, saying "fly fly" and after a bit he starts to bang his face on a plate glass window. The two students try to talk to him and stop him. He pushes the male student who is trying to stop him and that student falls. Soon both the male and female student are laughing and euphoric, while the third keeps banging his head until the glass breaks on the window and is covered with blood from his face.
Clive Ambrose, the co-chairman of Rossum, is showing a vial of chemical to Adelle and telling her he needs and army of Actives to find the second vial that has been taken.
