Excellent until the last episode
kat_mne11 November 2023
The storyline is intriguing and keeps your attention... until the very end. Unfortunately, in the last episode everything falls apart, there is a lack of resolution or explanation. The series falters in its conclusion, leaving the audience without any satisfying resolution or clarity. The potential for a more profound exploration of the central narrative seems unrealized, leaving a void in the overall satisfaction of the storytelling. It's unfortunate that the series stumbles in its conclusion.

Nevertheless, the historical episodes depicting the construction of Block 27 in Socialist Yugoslavia are outstanding - the cinematography is excellent, the narrative is tense and exciting. The spirit of the time is completely captured.

I would have liked to see more time devoted to this aspect, perhaps even making it the central narrative of the story. I believe it would have added much more excitement and depth to the overall plot.

Very suspensful

A great step for Serbian cinematography, it really taps into a new area. Amazing plot and very intense photography that works perfectly with the dry brutalistic architecture.

Epitome of an unfinished mess

Warning: Spoilers
The story is great... overall. However, dialogues are extremely unnatural, acting is borderline amateur, cinematography is alright and visual effects are... honestly really good.

Actors most of the time speak and me, a Serb, had real issues trying to understand them and was constantly asking my girlfriend what the hell did they just say.

And up until episode 5 everything was... watchable. But episode six... OH MY GOD. I genuinely thought there were at least 4-5 episodes left because literally nothing was clear after that sixth episode.

So, we do know what happened to Rajko and Blok 27... kinda, and that's it. We have absolutely 0 idea on why kids are missing, we have absolutely 0 idea what the hell happened to a police woman, we have no idea why Rajko is calling kids down, we have no idea what is Blok 27 is (i will clarify and expand on this*), we have no clue why Rastko wanted to stay there, we don't know what is that living thing in the walls of Blok 27 (is it alien form, is it something from this world?), we don't know anything!

It genuinely felt like someone said, before making episode six "Guys, i'm bored, let's wrap this up in the single episode and move on to another project".

If season 2 picks up and explains at least some of these things i will give it a better review. Now i'll give it two stars because of an excellent idea and good visual effects. Everything else is extremely amateur.

* We see that Rastko decided to stay in Blok 27 on his own, why? We also see other kids over there so is that like an afterlife? If not than why is there so many kids down there? We know that only about 6-7 disappeared so where did other come from? Why are they fainting for no reason? Why was that police woman on the TV suddenly being deaf?

Terrible ending,spoils everything!

Warning: Spoilers
This series has 6 episodes, and until the last episode, it has been a dark, gothic thriller, in the last episode- a slasher movie, with blood, guts and unmorphed sleazy alien life form, levitating dead children and pale undead children. The series has serious problems with voice, sometimes what characters speak is unrecognizable. The only good episode is episode 5, where it goes back in time and explains what lead to current events.

Like a lot of tv series, crew either got short of time or money, and made a mess of the last episode. That is why I am giving it a one star. If there wasn't the last episode, it would have been 7 or even 8.

All over the place

Horror is not a genre I'm into, especially when it's done as badly as it was here. I actually hadn't realised that this was the type of programme I'd be watching until the old, mad guy started raving about "he's" at it again. Up till then, it could have been a thriller and crime drama about drug pushers on rough council estates with the added plot about disappeared youngsters. This, therefore, was not for me and I deleted after the second episode.

Most of the actors and actresses seem to have no or very few prior credits (or subsequent ones) and it shows.

Another sore point was the subtitles which had been rather poorly translated. Some were so bad that I couldn't get the sense of what was happening.

Even though I watched two episodes, I'm not going to award more than one star.

Warning: Spoilers
If it wasn't for a terrible messed up and rushed ending, I would give it like 7 stars, but instead I'm giving it 4. First 5 episodes were ok, if we take out some seriously bad acting for a few, intriguing, suspenseful, story build up was good, but then suddenly they just ended the show in the 6th episode in a most ridiculous way. Dozens of unanswered question, plot holes, and from a suspenseful mystery they went straight to a stupid teenage horror ending. Nice try for something new in Serbian cinematography, but still, at the end, it isn't far away from all newer Balkan tv shows. Next time, when someone is having a project like this, should really consider if he has a full story or just a half of it and just at some ending to it, so it can be said that the story is over.
