Nice "Bait And Switch"...
cchase17 April 2008
Writer Davah Avena takes the old "Basic Instinct" gambit and puts a lovely spin on it, "Alison Dubois-style." I was wondering how they were going to get Rosanna on the show, and this story makes it easy: she gets to have the best of both worlds. Playing a "killer cougar" on one hand, and then doing the sexy-but-scatterbrained thing (her specialty) on the other.

The 'big reveal' turns out to be something of a cliché nowadays, but it's done in such a clever way that you don't really mind it. (And you didn't REALLY think I was going to tell you what it is, did you?)

Okay, so I will only give you one clue - the tagline from a poster for Brian de Palma's BODY DOUBLE: "You can't believe everything you see."

Hot Men, completely un-homophobic
alongquin5 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As a de-closeted Gay, I can honestly say that it's more homophobic to exclude us from certain roles, such as the serial killer as seen in Medium, than it is to have a gay serial killer. Gays can kill, too, y'know? Anyway, if you enjoy men, then this episode of Medium is very sexy. One word: Bartender! KACHING! It opens up a new subplot, which will develop nicely (Devalos' campaign for DA), but I was upset to see less of a focus on Joe's employment subplot (what is UP with that hair?) Rosanna is quite the sexy cougar, and I so need that book ;) It isn't my favorite ep. of Medium, though it is a good one. I will be on the lookout for the gorgeous beefcakes that play the victims.

Medium is what?
alserrano23 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
It surprise me a lot how another viewer saw this episode as homophobic (giving us a great SPOILER in the way): Medium treats this just as a twist, not as the way Without a Clue, CSI, new seasons of The Closer, Lost and many more treat homosexuality (or drugs, just to mention), which is fear. Medium always treats those topics in a natural way. And if you see "Cruising" as homophobic, the great "Cruising", the long forgotten "Cruising", then you are missing a lot in hypocrisy in the north-American media. It's like "there is a gay psycho in this movie, so this is homophobic!" kind of reasoning, forgetting that the other series around just ignore this topic, as it never existed (the way homosexuality has been treated in history) or just treats it like "ok, it's good as far as you don't touch me and you have money" and so on homophobic way. I don't understand, really.

And great episode, btw. Rossanna Arquette is as gorgeous as ever.

Homophobic
Helloween0723 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Well this episode is quite homophobic, setting the episode up that a female, played by Rosanna Arquette is the killer, however ending on the twist that a male has been luring guys and then killing them. Typical homophobia from the mainstream media.

Kelsey Grammar as the Executive Producer isn't surprising.

We don't need this type of prejudice in this day and age, and it is surprising this type of intolerance slips by.

It is like the writers saw a copy of Al Pacino's "Cruising" and decided to knock it off. Shame.

This type of intolerance has no place on screen.

Avoid 1/10.
