You have to see it to believe it

This movie is crazy insane. Loved it right off the bat. So much manic energy throughout. Really good music and score. Had a smile on for the entire runtime.

The performances are all really good and they can sing, plus the songs are pretty damn catchy! There's a massacre/fight scene at the end with plenty of blood , freeze frames and glitter. It has some drastic tonal shifts throughout... but handles them very well. It wouldn't work, without the total commitment of the cast, but commuted they are and probably were after this.

i now know there is no god

HEY EVERYBODY ITS ME (4) and today we review .......... why my ears are bleeding ....the movie !!!!!!!

Sometimes ...when im alone .... by myself ....thinking out loud in my head i ask myself "self ....why do we do the terrible things to us that we do ...." and i ask me " me , what things do you mean? " ....and i respond WATCHING THIS "MOVIE" and i use the word "movie " VERY loosely here.............

REPO the genetic opera ........ YES .........

the devils carnival .........absolutly ....

THIS ?!?!?!?!? Honestly needs to be taken out to the field .....shown the pretty flowers and put down ........because WOW ...... the songs are bad .......the idea ...is bad ....well from the amount of it i could put myself through (i ended up HAVING to skip some musical parts ....good lawd)............ i tried and as many people who follow me know I love film ....and i watch them as thoughough as possible ....even the bad ones BUT sometimes ........theres this .........

for a 2020 release some of the dance scenes are so dated already and cringy it hurts to watch ...your embarrassed for them ......and it even has the dude from the backstreet synce band from the 90s LOL .......so you know he should know better than that ..........

some films are campy on purpose .....some films are bad on purpose and usually those films have their own special charm , and its fun to watch them they bring to the table fun FX or ideas or REALLY bad over the top acting but in a good way .......but this ...... this was a drunk idea that went to far .......this was a bet someone lost and HAD to go through with ..........this is something that someone lied to the writer / director to and said "yes thats a good idea , make that happen" ........only 5 minutes in theres a "sex toy" song that makes you wish you were hellen keller ........

i generally HATE musicals , but have found many that are actually good films ........the one with johnny depp in it , theres the remake of "stage fright" ....i mean musicals / hybrids are out there and they dont have to "suck" no pun intended .... but sweet baby space jesus .... please do NOT do this again ......... and im sorry i seem so dramatic about it but it almost hurt my feelings ..........

and the ending ???????? What ??????? There is literally absolutely zero reason for this movie to be a thing .........

0/10

i think its my first legit zero rated film ........ dang .....

So Sad

LMAO... and not in a good way. I watched this pathetic attempt at a "horror musical". Do yourself a favor, PASS on this and watch "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" because IT stars talented people ; Meatloaf, Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry and lots more.

Needs ALL Backstreet Boys next time 😜
flyingspirit-889748 November 2020
Nice try Kenneth Hughes. Kevin looks sexy as hell, I'll give him that but honestly where is all the BITE in this? Needs more if you ask me and your hard on fans who get their kicks from a bloody fang in neck fetish would agree. Not to mention, perhaps a bit of suspense thrown into the mix? Ahh, and the biggest thing we fans would want to sink our attention in, is well.....what could the future be for say a sexy fang filled movie with perhaps ALL the Backstreet Boys as hot ass vampires!? Wouldn't that be a big way to start a big new BANG in vampire genre and bring out some new music hits for the boys! Could be the top hit of a new Backstreet Boys album! Everyone loves a bit of fang action blood thirsty bad boys but put them in the mix of their sexy performance in music and dancing and I think we all would be in for a hot treat and a hand out of 5+ star ratings! Just make sure to include more biting action of course! 😎😉

Bloody, Campy, and Joyously Musical
TheAll-SeeingI9 May 2020
Director-writer Ken Roht's "Vampire Burt's Serenade" channels the spirits of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," then heaps on delightful mounds of cheese and camp on a scale equal to Roger Corman films. This raunchy, bloody movie is culled from a live theater presentation -- an idea that acquits itself as near-genius by the time the credits roll, as "Vampire Burt's Serenade" proves to be aspirational, grass-roots filmmaking of the highest order.

Burt himself is handled by Kevin Scott Richardson, apparently a Backstreet Boy of note in a past or current life. Here he's unshackled from those conventions, and Really Rather Great as a power-wielding district manager of all area vampires. On one impulsive evening, he tears into the neck of pal Todd (Brandon Heitkamp), vampirizing the hell out of him. Todd then turns stripper girlfriend Connie (Diva Zappa) into a bloodsucker, and one who prove well up for it all. But their non-vamp friends are less enthralled, and deem it necessary to sort out Vampire Burt by way of a contracted vampire hunter (Kenneth Hughes).

Backed by a warhead payload of terrifically whimsical original songs, "Vampire Burt's Serenade" is an elevated diversion in a time when elevated diversions are mission critical. Recommended and then some. - (Was this review of use to you? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

A Wild, Sexy Fever Dream
reightr9 June 2020
A wild, sexy fever dream of a movie musical, Vampire Burt's Serenade is a bloody, good romp filled with plenty of fetish and camp. Kevin Scott Richardson leads a terrific cast fully committed to a dark, twisted, and very funny alternate reality bathed in sex, drugs, and violence reminiscent of the best of cult B-Horror flicks.

While the homages to Lynch and Raimi abound, it's the Rocky Horror meets Bob Fosse musical numbers that elicit the most laugh-out-loud moments, providing genuinely clever songs by composer Paul Goldowitz. Low-fi effects, gore, and a killer ending make this short, horror-comedy-indie perfect viewing for these existential times.

Hells Yeah
GilbertS-852 June 2020
What the hell just happened? Ambitious, original, weird, and fun. Hells yeah. Every time there is music, it's entertaining. Kevin Scott Richardson did an excellent job playing the main vampire, Burt. The description of the movie is spot on. If that sounds interesting, check it out. And damn that Burt.

"Just because you are a vampire doesn't mean you can't be a colossal dope addict."

A truely delightful musical!
antoinepana2 June 2020
Vampire Burt's Serenade is one of the most original indie movie I've ever seen. And boy, oh boy, I've seen a lot. It's a great entertainment, throw in a few millions of dollars and you get a Baz Luhrmann film! Althought the director definetly has his very own vision. Although it deals with a huge amount of violence - obviously - it's also very joyful (but not in a sadistic kind of way).

Mesmerizing
You won't believe what you're watching most of the time, and for that reason, it's completely worth your time. A bizarre combination of musical, camp, vampires and rock and roll, Vampire Burt's Serenade is absolutely incredible in every sense of the word. Kevin Richardson gives a truly mesmerizing performance and his dedication to his character is honestly, award worthy. If you're looking for a film to distract you from literally anything: This is it.

A Bloody Fun Musical
abuckeye-9363210 May 2020
A suprisingly entertaining bloody, horror, vampire musical. If a Backstreet Boy playing the lead role of "Burt" doesn't keep your interest then a group of beautiful looking strippers that have good acting chops will.

Wow.
robertjuster23 May 2020
Hard to know what to say about "Vampire Burt's Serenade" - it is weird and wonderful and ridiculous and campy. It clearly did not feature the world's largest special-effect budget - but it kinda doesn't matter. This film is not to be taken seriously, it is to be enjoyed.

Rocky Horror meets What We Do In The Shadows
andrewtschroeder16 May 2020
This vampire musical is kind of an indie mash up of Rocky Horror and What We Do In The Shadows. Its campy and fun (also bloody), great for a movie night in with friends.

Wonderfully Weird
wjaywill18 May 2020
This film was a really fun and exciting watch. I really didn't know what I was getting into and musicals aren't normally my thing besides some of the classics. But the interesting concept and clever songs kept me watching through the entire film. If you are a fan of the weird and wonderful I would check this film out.

Campy, bloody fun!
noorfay9111 July 2020
There's plenty to love in this theatrical, campy, raunchy vampire musical. Despite being low budget this film has a great cast full of unexpected yet familiar faces. You never know exactly where it's headed but it's a fun ride with tons of great original music.

Bloody, Irreverent, and Good Fun
JCanni6811 May 2020
Kevin Richardson fully embraces the role and shines as Burt the Vampire in this dark and stylish musical reminiscent of Rocky Horror Picture Show and What We Do In The Shadows. His Backstreet fans may be taken aback by the edginess and blood, but his acting chops are a pleasant surprise and he looks comfortable taking center stage. The music works seamlessly in the story, and the characters and scenarios are deliciously fun and humorous, as long as you're into dark comedy.

Treat yourself to a really fun movie. It was so fun and campy!
evelyne-811 May 2020
Vampire Burt's Serenade was to fun, totally reminds me of Rockey Horrow meets Roger Cooman! I wish it had a bigger budget because I think more people would take nocie of this hilerios cast. I don't usually watch Vampire films, but wanted to watch something fun. This movie was so fun, so campy, with such a great cast! Really treat yourself.

A Indie Rocky Horror Show
mahayanafilms15 May 2020
Its pretty funny and raunchy. This does bring back fun and glory into film....If you like theatricals then this looks like an adaptation of that......The lead actor Kevin Scott Richardson was good and musical seems to be in his blood....No pun intended....

The dialogues and acting of others were noteworthy. The actor Clare did very well too.....If you are into this Genre then really worth watching....

One in a life time collision!
azumilong14 May 2020
Last week I read a review of a low budget movie that blowed my brain out... My favorite backstreet boy, a Zappa girl, blood, vampires (that actually don't glow with the sun) and zombies (the kinda funny ones) all that wrapped on a musical... I'm goint to love it!

Two days later of the "premiere" (this is like a reedition of the 2014 movie) I finally was able to have my movie night! I saw it and loved it! The overall freaky, theatrical vibe is one of the things that make it great.

The first candyland's scene is majestic (the 7:30 one, including the introduction of Clare, beautiful and perfect dialog timing). I ended up with three favorites characters: Clare (you can tell she's an experience actress), Connie (I love her fluency and naturality) and Burt (I just love him and his dark humor), I could watch them endlessly

I'm happyly surprise with Kevin's performance, he nailed all the antihero concept... I love to hate him and I hate to love him. It's a musical, I know but the praise for the soundtrack it's necessary, bravo.

Last thing i have to say... Ohhh tasty!

My new favorite!
antielvis26 November 2020
My new favorite "bworst" (best worst-my word) movie ever!

Some of the acting is awful, but so entertaining! Kevin Richardson was good, but Christian and Gordon stole the show for me!

The songs hilariously suck! With songs like, I'm a Dizzy Dancing Bear and Scuzzy Little Toilet how can you go wrong?!?

The dance by Connie and the zombies was wonderful!

I can't wait for a sequel! If you like bad movies, you will love this one!
