- "Rough Around The Edges" is a full length contemporary comedy-drama, along the lines of "Rita, Sue & Bob Too", set in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The plot revolves around the entangled lives of several groups of characters over the course of five days, including; (a) A trio of taxi drivers who find themselves having to dispose of a dead body under the noses of the authorities and their own families (b) A racist copper, under suspension, who is hell bent on framing the taxi drivers (c) A male stripper who doesn't go all the way in his routines because he lacks the one vital thing any male stripper must have; an arch enemy plots to expose his secret in the most revealing way possible (d) Two geeky students steal homebrew and distill it into moonshine so they can gain entrance to an upcoming party of the "beautiful people", where they hope to lose their virginity (e) A ruthless high school beauty who plots to split up the high school hunk from her hated rival, so she can have him for herself (f) A David Brent style business man, who rents out portable toilets for a living, thinks he's on a blind date-promise with one of his three baby-sitters. Is it the fit one, the plain one, or the fat one ?—Dickinson, Jim
- Dole cheat Jeff (Steve Garry) tops up his benefits with cash earned from taxi driver work. At nights he picks up easy money, and women, as a male stripper known as Mr Excalibur, yet he's strangely reluctant to go all the way.
He lives next door to a bent, racist copper called Mr Pepper (Clive Robert Cope), who is suspended and under investigation. Pepper is hell bent on revenge against a trio of Asian taxi drivers (Amir Boutrous, Zahir Ahmed, Faisal Shah) he blames for his woes.
These taxi drivers, unaware of Pepper's intentions, have their hands full with a problem of their own; they've accidentally suffocated a passenger by letting him sleep off a hang over in the boot of a taxi. They try every which way to dispose of the body, from an ill-judged attempt to feed it to a piranha fish, to an unofficial burial.
Meanwhile Louise (Kay Mallinson), a ruthless high school student, sets her sights on the local hunk Danny (Nick Clubman), whos dating the town bike (Sarah Fitzpatrick). She uses foul means to split them up, and announces a party at the weekend to charm him into her bed.
Two geeky students, Darren (Aaron Darling) & Jim (Tom McNulty), decide this party will save them from their virginity. Their admittance depends on being able to provide the booze, so they plot to steal moonshine from an allotment shed, which happens to belong to the bent copper Mr Pepper.
Jim's mum Rachel (Emma Lawford-Wise) is a thirty something MILF, with an eye for strapping teenage lads of her sons age. She is planning her own party for the weekend and has booked the male stripper Mr Excalibur to provide entertainment for her man-eating friends.
Will Darren lose his virginity at the party that Louise is throwing, or will Rachel, his best friends mum, deflower him in the meantime?
Can the taxi drivers dispose of the dead body before the bent copper gets his revenge?
Will Louise outwit the town bike and sink her claws into the local hunk?
And just why won't male stripper Mr Excalibur go all the way?
