Horrible. Don't bother.
marctale-149-7649048 July 2020
Poor, non logical story. Plot points change within minutes. Horrible, wooden acting. Worst camera work (barely any camera movement unless the actors move a lot). Editing at it's worst (many scenes just cut short, especially during "action" scenes). No direction. Crappy CGI. The only thing acceptable is the soundtrack, which I'm sure is stock music though so still no extra points for the movie. Just avoid it at all costs. Yes, I rarely write reviews but this one definitely deserved this since it's probably the worst movie ever made.

The city of Amityville should sue this movie
kurtgschumacher19 July 2020
Just when you thought you knew how bad a movie could be...

The story (I won't dignify it by calling it a plot) makes no sense. The acting is horrible. The dialog is so bad it made my brain bleed. The CGI is pathetic, especially the shark.

What's the connection to Amityville? There's a guy who shows up randomly and says he's investigating "murders in Amityville".

More Amityville!
BandSAboutMovies19 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I love the guys at Wild Eye. After reading our Letterboxd list of Amityville movies*, I got an email from them that said, "Have you seen Amityville Island yet?"

Look, when a movie has the tagline "For God's sake, get out of the water!" you know I'm probably going to have to watch it. Throw in the fact that it was directed by Mark Polonia (along with Paul Alan Steele) and I knew I was going to be spinning this, probably while my wife was asleep so that she didn't cast a gaze at me that said, "You really will watch anything if Amityville is in the title."

Several girls are brought to a small island where they are subjected to genetic experiments that involve both humans and animals. Right away, we have a women in prison, a science gone wild story and a government conspiracy flick all at the same time, but to complete this buffet, we learn that one of the girls killed people inside the house on 112 Ocean Avenue.

Perhaps the finest movie to ever be made for $30,000 in Wellsboro, PA, Amityville Shark succeeds just because it exists. It's packed with a CGI shark, CGI blood, stock footage, a possessed woman blasting a dude through his PC and lines like, "She's from Amityville, what are you gonna do?" and "High quality dirtbags are getting harder and harder to find."

Oh yeah - there's also a zombie that shows up before the end of this movie.

Of course there is.

You know, if we put low budget filmmakers in charge of solving COVID-19, I bet their ingenuity and ability to work with no money would solve it in no time. Or maybe we'd have female prisoners fighting in basements while random dudes in officers yell into their landlines. Either way, this time, we can all win.

I hope Mark Polonia reads this and hears my request: Please make a movie where the apes from Empire of the Apes ride sharks.

*Polonia also made Amityville Exorcism and is due to make Shark Encounters of the Third Kind this year.

Amityville Island review
issacgregory15 June 2023
I'll give the makers of Amityville Island some credit, they try for something different than just another haunted house movie...they TRY but don't necessarily succeed.

Single mom of four and newly moved into Amityville Kelly Jo (Jamie Morgan) stops at a yard sale at the infamous Amityville house,(They missed their chance not calling this Amityville Yard Sale) the items she buys fill her with evil intent and she kills her four kids in cold blood.

This lands her in prison, (Another missed opportunity...Amityville is the New Black.) where the sadistic guards force her to fight a fellow inmate (Danielle Donahue) for perverts online.

The two are sent to an island to be experimented on by two kooky doctors, (Jeff Kirkendall, and James Carolus) who are trying to make a supersoldier then clone him. (There is a lot going on in the one hour eighteen minutes running time.)

Another not-so-good Amityville movie under my belt, and there is a truckload more to watch.

Amityville Island has lots of ideas going on, yet none of it ever comes together. There is a women's prison movie, a mad scientist flick, a devil possession movie, and a zombie flick, yet none of it works in any way.

Jamie Morgan is a lead actress who has no business whatsoever being in front of a camera.

Amityville demons, women in prison, secret research lab, shark, ... does that sound exciting to you?
AESP_pres26 October 2020
It shouldn't... Seriously Mark Polonia does movie since 35 years and after all that time he didn't get better, the films are always amateur mess. Not that you won't get some enjoyment from them, but I doubt it is the desired wanted results. So just have fun watching the CGI shark (and no it looks nothing like the one of the poster), the ultra-secret research lab with no security (only two doctors) and wait to see the zombie / failed test subject (or whatever else that was supposed to be) for a good laugh... gave me a five minutes giggles run.

2/10 for the laughs because this sure ain't good horror cinema

Top notch for a high school art project
fynnsch11 July 2020
From the first minute it becomes clear that you're in for a ride. One with a lot of twists and turns, and a bit of nausea. Just let it surprise you, and enjoy the ride.

Let me summerize the plot for this one
gacsogergely30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So, a nurse in a gas mask with axe killed everyone in a house, which thus became hunted. The demon possessed a white woman who therefor transformed a black woman, who got arrested for killing her own children, then is transfered to Fantasy Island, where a mad scientist creates zombies, from where she breakes out with the demon's possessinig power and the help of another inmate. In the end the demon becomes practicaly Jason X: a mutant undead nanobot immortal being, while the protagonist lady gives birth the the MK Ultra Supersoldier.

If you liked this, try the art of Neil Breen too.

Crazy but fun...
borntorock-4726728 December 2020
Yes, this is a very low budget effort but I have to award points for originality. This is part women-in-prison movie, part occult film with mad scientists, a shark & a few zombies thrown in. Some of the cast have been in other Wild Eye movies. Plot is confusing at times but don't put too much thought into it. All in all, entertaining but definitely don't expect a blockbuster thriller.

Extremely boring
alessandrobuia26 August 2022
This movie was horrible: first of all the cover makes you think it is a shark movie, but a shark appears in a minute on the whole movie, besides the zombies and the demon were very badly made up Avoid!

Worth sampling it here and there, just for fun
imdbcom-6996922 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As this is the worst rating I've ever seen here, I decided to sample it randomly just to get an idea how low it can go. I wasn't disappointed. If you want to get an idea of what a -10 star would be if one could select that rating, this is it. It still begs the question of who actually make this kind of gigantic pile of crap, who would produce it, and for what purpose...

Are they now allowing little children to make movies?
darill-2802726 December 2021
Are they now allowing little children to make movies? I mean this is exactly what this movie looks like it is made from. The cartoon shark in the water? Like seriously?! And the lightning bolts cartoon look alike? Seriously?! Please do not let the people who made this movie make another one. Thanks!

Absolutely terrible
iamrobbbb3 October 2022
This is the same cast who brought you one of the last practically unwatchable, completely nothing related to Amityville, travesties. I honestly think you could expect more from a enthusiastic high school drama/film studies group. We are talking literal Halloween mask level monsters. The worst Part of all is that it has absolutely nothing to do with Amityville. Enjoyment
michle537 June 2021
I was on a Polonia jag. I watched this and Razorteeth back-to-back. I became confused and kept thinking the Mark Polonia character's wife had been eaten by pinanhas. There's a lot going on in this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as I enjoy most Polonia films.
