A new bit of Kanye West Music has made its way to the internet. "White Dress," a song off the soundtrack of the upcoming RZA film "Man With the Iron Fists," is a welcome return to the older, more thoughtful flow of early Kanye.
The snippet posted on Pusha-t's website sees West empathizing with his "baby," a woman who is trying to better herself and her style.
It's also a song about taking a woman from the nightclub to the altar (where she'll be wearing a white dress). RZA rapped West's hook in a red carpet appearance at the Bet Hip-Hop Awards. It goes like this: "I seen you in the club in a tight dress, but I picture you in church with a white dress." (Endearingly, RZA went on to explain the lyric's meaning: "So that's basically talking about, you know, some of these girls, you know, you want...

There will be no award-show outbursts from Big Sean. Though the Kanye West protégé came up short, losing the 2011 MTV Vma for Best New Artist to Tyler, the Creator, Sean harbors no ill will. He's also nominated for four Bet Hip-Hop Awards, including Best Hip-Hop Video for "My Last" and Rookie of the Year. For the Detroit Mc, it's all very motivating.
"I thought it was cool Tyler got that," Sean told MTV News of the Best New Artist category. "I was in the audience with my mom; we enjoyed it. When I lost, it wasn't like a big thing at all — it was just kinda like we were enjoying the time."

Kanye West's highly anticipated debut film, "Runaway," finally arrived on Saturday (October 23) and proved to be the "ambitious" effort that fans who previewed the short have been raving about for weeks.
The film's narrative focuses on the ill-fated relationship between West and a phoenix that plummets from the cosmos (Selita Ebanks). Their union is torn apart after the otherworldly creature is discriminated against for her curious behavior and features. Buoyed by West's soulful soundtrack, comprised of G.O.O.D. Friday joints and tracks slated for his forthcoming fifth LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the film's subtexts include themes of social ostracism and rebirth — issues the Mc has said he identifies with.

'It's super competitive,' Big Sean adds of hip-hop collective.

New York — Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the 2010 Bet Hip-Hop Awards, which aired on Tuesday night, was the G.O.O.D. Music freestyle cypher, when Kanye West and crew delivered a string of clever rhymes backed by DJ Premier on the turntables.
The well-dressed collective has kept the attention of all lately with their G.O.O.D. Friday releases and the official addition of Mos Def and Clipse's Pusha T to the roster.
According to Gm family members Common and upstart Big Sean, they all push each other lyrically and hope to expand hip-hop musically.
"It's a whole new inspiration [for me]," Common told MTV News on Tuesday in New York, where he was hosting Diesel's Only the Brave showcase, featuring Donnis, Vado and Big Sean. "Because as an Mc,...

Stephen Hill says late Gang Starr Mc will be honored during Bet Hip-Hop Awards in the fall.

The 2010 Bet Awards had several memorable moments, including a diva-packed tribute to lifetime-achievement honoree Prince, a pregnant Alicia Keys rocking out harder than ever and comebacks from Kanye West, Chris Brown and El DeBarge.
However, viewers have been abuzz since Sunday's live broadcast about a moment that was noticeably absent from the show: a tribute honoring late lyricist Guru. A Bet higher-up, however, has insisted that the lack of recognition for the Gang Starr Mc, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year, was not an oversight but rather the product of a technical snafu.
"It was nothing more than a technical glitch," said Bet Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill, who was involved in staging the show, according to AllHipHop.com.

In the aftermath of his interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the VMAs last month, Kanye West told Jay Leno that he planned to take some time off.
And in the weeks since that statement, his Fame Kills Tour with Lady Gaga was canceled, he didn't appear this weekend at the 2009 Bet Hip-Hop Awards, and he's been relatively quiet as his latest protégé, Kid Cudi, promotes his recently released debut album.
Kanye has been posting his usual photos of things he's interested in on his blog, but apart from a post about Derrion Albert's murder in Chicago and one about Nabil Elderkin's forthcoming photo book of Kanye's Glow in the Dark Tour,...

It's safe to say the 2009 Bet Hip-Hop Awards will be getting a little more media attention than usual this year after giving Kanye West another opportunity (nine, actually) to let the world know, in true jackass fashion, how much better Beyoncé is than everyone else. It's probably also safe to say that Taylor Swift will not be among the viewers tuning into the ceremony. Unless the country kitten has a stronger taste for schadenfreude than we thought. But what started as one of West's worst weeks ever has taken a turn for the better thanks to some oddly timed positive reinforcement from Bet, which this morning gave the controversy king a leading nine nominations for next month's Hip-Hop...
