A precious take

Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana

A precious take ! First of all Kudos to Raj B Shetty for directing, writing and acting in this. Its not a normal gang war crime movie, it flows into Friendship, Betrayal, Characters of the 2 Main protagonists - Shiva and Hari.

Music and BGM is awesome and thrilling It doesnt glorify the 2 main leads as Hero's but portray them as villains. We dont feel sympathy to their actions but we feel for their bond & history.

Well acted, written, directed movie.

Parmvah Studios is a science lab which makes explosive flicks like these. Hope to see more thrilling films.

Must Watch for the Raw Making
belmarahul19 November 2021
GGVV is a Raw Action movie which does not have any hype for the Heros but still makes you feel the intense of the Characters. Two lead roles will make you get into the story. All the actors have played their role brilliantly. Special Applause for Raj Shetty, Rishab Shetty and Gopal Krishna Deshpande. Raj Shetty has redefined the Mass Genre. Acting, Direction and Story, Pure Class. Simple story but makes you get into the movie and be in the Hangover. The Rich Tulunadu Culture is shown magnificently. Not to forget the excellent BGM. These type of movies are taking Kannada industry to a new direction. Don't miss this in Theatres.

Movie was excellent and has lot of depth. Good this movie was released in theatre. Music & Cinematography was brilliant. Ending is kind of different and keeps you thinking, Depends on the individual.

Minute detailing and short picturisation is something Raj B Shetty has done brilliantly.

It's in the level of Kamatipadam & Angamaly Diaries ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Raj B Shetty is here to stay
swaroopsri-3420219 November 2021
Beautiful cinematic experience. Mind-blowing screen writing, direction and acting by Raj B Shetty. Didn't really expect this kind of sensitivity in his second attempt. All the actors have done full justice to their characters. Loved each and every frame. Will definitely recommend this.

One of the most 'well-made' movies of 2021
TreeFiddy5316 January 2022
This is one of the most 'well-made' movies of 2021, IMO. The Kannada film industry gets a bad rap but content like this goes a long way in showing why you need to 'put some respeck on it'.

The director (who's also written and acted in this movie) is apparently a Martin Scorsese fan and boy has he made a film Scorsese might enjoy from a filmmaking standpoint.

While this is a regular gangster story that doesn't have anything mind-blowing story-wise, the writing, sound design, editing, the several layers, acting & cinematography are amazing. They elevate this gangster-take on Brahma-Vishnu-Shiv to a totally different level.

That 'tiger-dance' sequence in the rain - *slow claps*

While this isn't a movie for everyone, if you enjoy stuff like The Godfather or Scorsese-que content, this might be worth a shot. Also, I lowkey like how easy to understand and follow Kannada is. Hoping to watch more Sandalwood movies.

A Ballad of Shiva & Hari: As He Creates So He Destroys
samxxxul20 November 2021
Usually, concepts like this showing two sides of the coin with a black and grey character arcs in a machismo environment is a hit or a miss. In GGVV the result is neither both and the film doesn't aim to cater to a particular emotion and is not often well executed in the runtime. Shiva and Hari the two main characters are involved in an unstoppable spiral, although both are in very different state of mind. But deep down, both are victims stained with brotherly bromance and a blood pact. The story is simultaneously narrated by a small-town policeman who in his bland job is not taken very seriously. He is transferred to Mangaladevi and he puts his private life in mess to hunt down Shiva and Hari as the name is used for the motif of the film. From there, the human portrait is built as the environment reflects the tone of the movie and the cinematography is muddy and blood soaked packed with mood and metaphors Raj B Shetty reinvents himself in doing a very dark character and it's probably one of his best performances but he falls prey to overindulgence and the internally enraged nature. Rishab Shetty is restricted, albeit at the deliberate hindrance of the former.

With the title GGVV, it is actually already clear what the film must be about and it is apt as deeds play a major role. On the other hand, it is a solemn melancholic ballad, the outcome of which can be guessed and as a viewer you leave the cinema with mixed feelings - a negative and a positive.

It is a commendable effort coming from KFI and Raj B Shetty must be appreciated for his vision but let's not pretend this is anything more and I'm appalled at how shallow cinephiles are confusing this for a cult movie.

Mor of such talents and film style should be supported by the people this movie is very different than general regular movies. I am sure this movie will release in OTT but to enjoy the full background music it's better to watch in theatre.

0.5X movie
rubber_rice20 November 2021
Simple story line with impressive making, cinematography, BGM and acting. Each cast member did justice to their role. 1st half is extremely good, but 2nd half is average. Seems like Raj B Shetty was too exited to play with slow mo cams, 75% of the movie is in slow mo made it bit irritating. Apart from this, every other aspect of the movie is top notch, especially music. Worth a watch and appreciate this new effort in our industry.

Definite Dud watch
holla-6005423 November 2021
Went to this movie with lot of expectations , apart from Raj B Shetty screen presence there's nothing in it . First half is decent , when movie comes to second half it's lag to the core .. BGM is good , cinematography is top notch . Technically brilliant , but content wise it's dud. To be honest coastal Karnataka is not just about tiger dance , it's even more , the culture , the landscape , it's people, Divinity ... Could have easily explored more and bought up a good content ... Entha saav marre😒 Ulidavaru kandanthe was lot lot better than this ...

That's how I love watching cinemas
aushro15 January 2022
Such an amazing film that deserves the accolades and acclaimed hype it's garnered. One of the best kannadian films there is and one of the best films personally seen recently, after a long time of being on my to see list but taking a while to get round to it due to being so busy and going through a difficult phase.

Perhaps 'GGVV' is not for everybody. It is not some audience members' idea of being entertaining, and is pretty unflinching, uncompromising and challenges the viewer. It does, with that being said, a superlative job bringing those qualities to life, and there are others, including myself, who judge films by what they set out to do rather than just wanting to be "entertained". There are many hugely entertaining films, while there are others that are clearly intended to be things other than entertainment and either are deep character studies, deliberate mood pieces and poignant dramas and shouldn't be denounced because of stereotypical views of what a film should be like.

Best Indian Gangster drama of 2021!
nidhunmoviebuff13 January 2022
It is immensely hard to catch the audience by surprise in the over-populated and overdone gangster drama genre where audiences have been exposed to everything from Scorcese's panache to Kashyap's rootedness.

Yet, Raj B Shetty's "Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana" deftly unnerves and astounds with its rustic narration, explosive action and mythological symbolism, augmented by a chilling background score and convincing lead performances.

Rishab and Raj might be lesser known Shettys of Kannada cinema given the pan-India reach of Rakshit Shetty but they stand a head taller here in terms of creative output. Raj B Shetty is stunning as "Shiva", nuanced and restrained in emotional portions and deliciously violent in the action segments, playing an able foil to Rishab Shetty's "Hari".

With obvious symbolism to Hindi deities Lord Shiva and Vishnu respectively, the story follows the two surrogate brothers as they build a mafia empire together, only to squabble and fight as a clever police office turns them against each other.

The oft-repeated plotline, reminiscent of Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018) however, does not come across as formulaic since the narrative is purely driven forward by the lead actors' immense performances and the use of motifs and analogies to create lasting emotional impact.

The director uses smartly tailored frames and spine-tingling background music to create a sense of foreboding and dread even with just a pair of shoes! With rustic characters, raw violence, psychological turmoil and human ego driving the story forward, Malayalees especially will feel a sense of Lijo Jose Pallissery-ness in this story, such is the quality and vibrancy of Raj B Shetty's construction of the narrative.

Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana is a landmark not just in Kannada cinema, but in the annals of Indian cinema as well. It is no wonder that celebrated auteur Gautham Menon quickly snapped up the Tamil remake rights for this gem.

All superlatives and praise fall short for this sensational gangster saga. Highly, highly recommended. An absolute must-watch!

This film is an experience
scorpsathwik19 November 2021
Characters> Story. It happens very rare that the characters Overpower the story and it has worked. You will come out with an experience.

I saw audience laughing when shiva kills a man and that is insane. I have seen this response only in once upon a time in Hollywood.

The level story telling and Raj B Shetty has made an impact with shiva.

Predictable yet powerful
mohandas-6246728 November 2021
A movie which needs to be appreciated for its various dimensions.

It begins with a very beautifully crafted english song which captures the essence of the characters "Shiva" and "Hari", they are synergistically very powerful but bring out the worst in each other.

5 mins into the movie you would see how graphic and realistic this movie would be. Be it the costume, language or acting, its all very natural.

The narration could have been better and in a few places you would find needless slow motion scenes. But having said that, Mangaluru gets a powerful scene setting as the beautiful city, its beautiful temples and the amazing people have been depicted well in the context of the movie. There is so much more but Kudos.

Last but not the least, "Hulivesha super marre"!!!

Raj B Shetty, Rishabh Shetty and your entire crew deserves standing ovation!!!!

Raj B. Shetty, The trendsetter!
SoumikBanerjee199622 January 2022
Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana signifies Raj B Shetty's conceptualization of typical gangster dramas. By comprising the traditional tropes with the essence of mythology; I must admit, Shetty's ideation was nothing short of a courteous attempt. Such metaphorical depiction of Brotherhood, Betrayal and Eradication is something that I have never been a witness of!

What stood out to me the most is its rather unconventional take on Power Dynamics and how methodically it defines the consequences of inherent Obsession and searing Rage. Elucidated through three eclectic personalities; Brahmyaa, Hari and Shiva. One creates, one nourishes and the remaining one annihilates!

These three central figures are interwoven with a rousing narration that does seem to lose its grip in the middle; however, it remained steadfast on its better dispositions until the last possible second. Firmly backed up by a fantastic score and some impeccable performances. Not to mention, Raj B Shetty, who was by and large superior to everybody else!

As a matter of fact; It's not easy for an artist to even out two extensively different conceptions. One, while staying in front of the camera and the other one, while supervising from behind. At any given moment, these two varied opinions can easily cause some issues and hinder the prospects of the final outcome.

Luckily, in this case, that didn't happen. Barring a few insufficiencies, Mr Shetty has shown equal commitment and maturity in both of his positions; thereupon, giving birth to an inimitable tale of authority and vengeance.

Raj's writing is genuine
vishnusampathk7 June 2022
The movie opens avenue for film makers to be more unique and tell stories in own voice and also to be genuine to the story and not the audience. Raj is excellent in his acting, the movie could be easily rated 7-7.5 stars.it does have some slow movement shots the scenes are intresting and not dull its an amalgamation of angamaly diaries and city of god.

Totally new saga..new dimension to sandalwood movies..not even single point to blame (If you don't like crime better stay away). Story in one line : how one can become creator and destroyer by themselves but the narration is totally new kind..though violence is symbolic still chills the blood..no heroes no heroines..no blockbuster song..everything has coastal Karnataka fragrance..all the fields of movie making at superior level..Raj Shetty made us to laugh nonstop in his first movie..in this he bursts out all navarasas within us..but fear rules all and scare us the most (If you don't like crime better stay away)
