The lives of Mouna, a weather scientist who falls in love with Yaazhan, a quirky and loving guy. What happens to their relationship after a couple of years and how things take an unexpected turn after the arrival of Malarvizhi?

Mouna (Aditi), falls in love with Yaazhan (Dulquer) but after two years of their marriage she grows bitter to his constant complaining and talking and tries to get rid of him. Soon she chances upon Malarvizhi (Kajal) to devise a plan but what ensues is a complete twist of events.

Yaalan (Dulquer Salmaan) and Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari) fall head over heels in love with each other and they get married. Mouna studies storm wind patterns while Yaalan is a software engineer. After two years of marital life, Mouna becomes annoyed by Yaalan's overly affectionate and talkative nature. Yaalan is very inquisitive and questions everything and everyone. This is why nobody comes near him. She decides to separate from him to live a life of her own and on her own terms. Mouna even begs her boss Kaundhi (Pradeep K. Vijayan) to give her a project in Pondicherry, just so she can be away from Yaalan for a year.

Ram (RJ Vijay) is Mouna's colleague at work who recently got divorced from his wife and is very happy. Ram helps Mouna plan her divorce. Mouna says that Yaalan is very talkative and is always cooking and feeding her (due to which her weight is increasing). He is a self-professed expert on AR Rahman. Ram advises Mouna to be a sloth and not bathe, but this only turns Yaalan on. She tries a serum to numb Yaalan's tongue, which works but Yaalan continues to mumble which still annoys Mouna. Mouna pretends to flirt with a stranger on phone, in front of Yaalan to make him jealous. But Yaalan figures out that its Ram trying to flirt with Mouna.

Mouna finally leaves for her project in Pondicherry but finds that Yaalan has followed her there to the company guest house. He intends to stay with her for the entire yr. Mouna's friends are RJ Divya (Nakshatra Nagesh) & RJ Shiva (Abishek Kumar), to whom she confesses the truth that she feels stifled. Her project team includes Paarvathy (Soundarya Nanjundan) & Samanth (VJ Kaushick Gabriell). Things take an ugly turn when Mouna lies to Yaalan to attend a wedding all by herself. But she leaves her mobile at home and the wedding host calls and ends up inviting Yaalan to the wedding, who picked up the call. At the wedding, Yaalan picks a fight with the caterer over the quality of the food, earning a rebuke from other guests.

One day, Mouna meets a psychiatrist named Dr. Kajal Malarvizhi (Kajal Aggarwal) (who lives just next door to her company guest house). Malar specializes in separating loving couples from each other by revealing the truth of their relationship to them. Mouna devises a scheme with Malarvizhi to make him fall in love with her so that she can use it as an excuse to get divorced. Malar agrees only when Mouna threatens to commit suicide if Malar won't help her. Malar tells Mouna to refer Yaalan to a profession, where talking is the main skill. Mouna helps Yaalan meet Divya and Shiva to begin his career as a RJ. Unknown to Yaalan, Mouna is paying his salary via Divya. Yaalan' show becomes a hit as he brings innovative topics and a unique thinking to the table. Many listeners call in to seek his advice on their life issues.

Malar strikes a good rapport with Yaalan (after she finds out everything about what Yaalan likes and dislikes) and the two form a close bond over poetry. Malarvizhi begins to fall in love with Yaalan, and although he is unaware, he blossoms with his newfound career as an RJ and with his friends. But then Yaalan finds out that Mouna had come to Pondicherry just to be away from him. He is selected for a RJ show in Chennai and decides to go there. In Chennai he exposes Paalmali Baba (Yogi Babu), who rapes young kids and runs a drugs business in the garb of his ashram. Yaalan buys a new car as well.

Meanwhile, Mouna realizes she is losing Yaalan and schemes to separate them, setting Malarvizhi up to be discovered by Yaalan as a fraud. She finds that Ram blames Kajal for his divorce from his wife. Kajal has a reputation as a home wrecker. Upon Mouna's request, Ram calls Yaalan anonymously and gives him a tip about the home wrecker Kajal. Yaalan is shocked to find Kajal there. Kajal says that she only exposes men who are unfaithful to their wives.

Malarvizhi professes her love to Yaalan, who is confused and troubled. Mouna tells Yaalan the truth about their scheme and that Malarvizhi's love was not real. Yaalan is devastated and leaves telling Mouna that she gave up on him and doesn't deserve his love anymore. He starts divorce proceedings, leaving Mouna heartbroken. Malarvizhi is happy at first, as she thinks Yaalan reciprocates her love. However, Yaalan tells her that though he can't be with his wife, he does not see anyone else in her place. Yaalan tells Malarvizhi that though she lied that he believed she was truthful in her time with him and leaves a heartbroken Malarvizhi. Mouna learns about Yaalan's conversation and realizes how much she had hurt Malarvizhi and apologizes to her for involving her in the scheme and causing her heartbreak.

Six months later, Mouna and Yaalan meet at family court, where he ignores her. Mouna asks Yaalan about why he smiled the day he saw Malarvizhi sitting opposite him at the coffee house. Yaalan tells her that he was thinking about Mouna the day he met her for the first time in similar cafe and didn't even realize it was Malarvizhi who was sitting opposite to him because he was thinking of Mouna. As Yaalan walks away, Mouna realizes how much he had loved her, and she had tested him. She runs after him and begs for forgiveness, telling him how much she loves him, where the two reunite. Malarvizhi takes up Yaalan's RJ job and decides to spend the rest of her life fixing troubled marriages through her newfound job.
