Christmas with the Loud House
MB-reviewer18527 November 2021
I really like the Loud House animated show and the Loud House Movie on Netflix, but now we have a Nickelodeon movie called a Loud House Christmas in live action.

The actors looked close enough to the Loud siblings and they acted like how the characters would act in the show.

It does have the Nickelodeon movie feel to it and can be either cringe worthy or weird looking, because it is different than how it is in animation.

I'm not going to say go and see it but I will say give it a chance if you do, they do have accurate things from the show that looks good in live action.

Overall I think it's bad but it's entertainingly bad with similarities to the show, its just another Nickelodeon movie to watch on TV.

A Lump of Coal

Warning: Spoilers
This was probably the worst thing I had seen in my life. It's been maybe two years since I had quietly tuned out from the show mostly since it didn't feel relatable anymore as it was employing more sci-fi/supernatural elements to it like ghosts; Flip being threatened with the notion of going into outer space; and recycled plots. Hadn't watched the Netflix movie so I can't really comment much on that.

Casagrandes...it was more or less just the Loud House but with Ronnie Anne Santiago with her extended family. It was more or less a skip for me. I do like Ronnie Anne as a character, but I fail to see how she was considered interesting enough for a spin off.

When I heard about there being a live-action Loud House special...I cringed mentally. I just hate live action adaptations of cartoons and anime largely because they fail to convey the visual creativity that the cartoons demonstrate. Instead of vibrant colors and lively animation, you would get a bland, mundane world.

This Christmas special was not good. In it, Lincoln is upset that his family is seemingly splitting apart when his sisters all have gigs for Christmas.

For one, the actors look nothing like the characters they play especially in regards to their hair. Sure, at the least the actor playing Lincoln has that small point in his hair, but for other characters like Lori, I initially did not know that was meant to be her because of the way her hair was done. I also couldn't help but feel some of the kid actors were miscast with Lisa and the twins looking too big. I mean, sure, I understand the reason for that, but it was distracting.

If anything...the actors all looked uncanny. Legitimately, I felt unnerved seeing all them act and move. Very, very creepy. Especially with Lucy, though I guess that was intentional. But Mr. Coconuts...I'll be sleeping with one eye open tonight with a frying pan beside me.

So how is the plot of the movie? Lincoln is simply the worst character in this film. I understand his concerns, but the lengths he takes in this special are purely despicable. Since I doubt no one really cares about spoilers for this: Lincoln convinces Luna that Mick Jagger was coming to town (even though she already met him before; albeit he was wearing a disguise but still) which causes Sam to break up with her; he and Clyde pretend to be senior citizens at a nursing home and sabotage Luan's chances of entertaining for the elderly folk; he steals Tanya the mannequin and fabricates some cryptid called a sharkidle and passes it off as being at Miami, Florida, driving a wedge with his family's plan of going to Miami on vacation.

Naturally, while Lincoln's plan seemingly goes well, the ramifications become apparent and his attempts at fixing his mistakes results in the news reporting that the aquatic monster was now in Royal Woods and they issue a curfew which ruins Lily's chances at lighting the town's Christmas tree.

Really, it reflects the problems some fans have had with the show where they paint Lincoln as a jackass. What's worse, Lincoln is hardly punished for his actions being given as much as a slap on the wrist. While he does break the fourth wall by saying he'd have to do 100+ hours of community service for the destruction he caused, that amounts to nil.

Christmissed Potential

I remember when the Loud House first aired on Nick in 2016. It was a breath of fresh air for Nick given a steady stream of mediocre shows. However, the series has had a decline in quality with most episodes now being bland and safe. So when I heard about this, I was skeptical, but curious. After watching this movie, I can safely say that this movie this well.... kinda pointless.

I feel that the plot of this movie is underdeveloped. Lincoln wants his entire family home for Christmas. However, his eldest sisters are planning different events while his family is planning to go to Miami. To keep the traditions, Lincoln sabotages all their plans, but goes too far. He then tries to make things right and admits he was in the wrong. While I would have done a few tweaks to Lincoln's story, the writers should have spent more time on other B-plots, especially with Lori's return home.

There were some moments that made me chuckle, but not laugh out loud.

Overall, I feel that this movie could have been a good adaptation of a cartoon. However, I think that it suffers from the seasonal rot of the show. It's something that I probably wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This Movie was terrible !! I was skeptical at first but after watching it . I really hated it more.
JCar-1629530 November 2021
The movie was bad and a miserable experience !! A 0/10 film that was although short ( at 1 hour and 18 minutes ) thankfully. It however doesn't makes up for in the writing ,storytelling, and the message of the film. Lincoln was very manipulative and his Mom didn't punish him or yell at him. The rest of the cast's performances were boring and cringey as well. Oh yeah and the town believes A shark / crocodile hybrid is real.

The casting was barely spot on.

I may as well add this movie felt like a low budget Hallmark and Lifetime original Christmas movies on TV. What the Heck was Nickelodeon thinking when they announced this train wreck back in 2020 ?

Warning: Spoilers
I knew this movie was gonna be bad but my GOD is it worse than I thought it would be. The entire film is about Lincoln Loud, the hero and character we're supposed to root for being a selfish brat and ruining his family's plans because he wants to spend Christmas with his family. Lincoln goes so far as to get Leni fired from her job, make Luan question her entire character, break Luna's heart, and even almost kill his oldest sister Lori throughout the course of this hour-long movie all because he wanted everybody to do what he wanted. The worst part is that in the end despite all the selfish acts he's done, he's immediately forgiven and isn't given any consequences for his actions.

It's awful
BabyDexter444419 December 2021
The Loud House is a really overrated show in my opinion, it's awful, but, this movie, it's 1000 times worse. If I where a fan, I would hate this movie, because it's so cheap looking, and it has an awful story. I would rather watch Family Guy Season 12 again, than this movie.

Enjoyable!
charlesgdallas27 November 2021
I enjoy watching the cartoon series along with my daughters. So when I first heard they were doing a live-action movie I was skeptical. Because of so many live-action remakes that have tried and failed. But, I have to say they go along with the series. The characters in the movie are similar to the cartoon. Both my daughters and I enjoyed watching it! I honestly hope they consider doing another movie and/or a live-action tv series!

Cute
jgibson7528 November 2021
I thought it was cute. I'm clearly not the target audience but I watched it with my 6 year old son. He was glued to the tv. He absolutely loved it. So for me I think it succeeds at what it is trying to be.

We're the writers drunk during the production
davidaempatton27 November 2021
This movie is just about Lincoln being a selfish little bratty prick. He ruins his family's plans by scaring the crap out of the town. He nearly crushes his sisters dreams by messing them up. Then the family forgives him even though he destroys the town.

Garbage
gorgejazzsherman26 November 2021
I watched this with a bunch of people and we had to take like 18 Breaks. It hurts to watch. The plot is stupid. It's unfaithful. The CGI is bad. The jokes are unfunny. The only good part were the actors.

Very poor Christmas special
R4m3n27 November 2021
It's pretty obvious that The Loud House has been on decline for a while, but this puts the nail in the coffin. Terrible acting (aside from the dad), jokes that never land, and predictable cliches. I don't know what Nickelodeon was thinking when they decided to make a live action, when that has also been on the decline.

Overall: 3/10.

A Loud Disaster
sgrell-9806728 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
-Cast- This movie was just unbelievably inaccurate to the source material. While a majority of the casting was fine, they messed up Bobby's character terribly. Bobby is meant to be a Mexican-American boy with tan skin, but they cast a Caucasian American from Texas for the role. What's worst is they had him try to pass off as Hispanic by having him falsify an accent and say some Spanish words which just makes it disrespectful. Part of the appeal was the diversity in the cast.

-Plot- Another letdown was Lincoln. While he isn't perfect by any means, he's usually the hero of the story who goes out of his way to help his sisters. But they took it too far by making him an outright villain. He nearly destroyed his sister's lives in order to get his way. He got Leni fired from her job, got Luan fired and almost completely destroyed her relationship with her grandfather, he inadvertently made Luna and Sam break up breaking both their hearts, he ignored Lori's wishes and tricked her into coming home in dangerous weather (nearly killing her), and ruined his entire family's plans for Miami, making them depressed. What's worst is when all this comes to light at the end, he's instantly forgiven like he didn't just ruin their lives.

Overall, this movie was just completely unfaithful to the cast and characters and had a really weird plot. They could've delayed it another month to release it closer to Christmas like it should've been but instead released this train wreck out of season.

Should have left it as a cartoon.
matt-953413 December 2021
Watched this because my son is a fan of the cartoon.

This should have been animated as the live action is just off-putting.

The casting is terrible as all the 'kids' look like they're at least 30 years old; Luna may as well be played by Winona Ryder, Lori looks older than the mom, the baby in the cartoon is about 1 year old - here she's about 5 and Lola looks like an undesirable from Breaking Bad.

The acting is also incredibly poor.

The story would have been passable in the animated version but it makes for a very poor live-action movie.

I hated Lincoln.
anthonymichael-9358528 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie started out great, introducing us to all the characters just like in the first episode of the show. Then, everyone went in the kitchen for food. That's when everyone found out that Lori, Luna, and Luan wouldn't be staying for Christmas. After that, everyone except Lincoln decides that the family is going to Miami for Christmas. Lincoln doesn't like this, so he makes Lori come all the way home, he gives Luna a fake phone call which unintentionally makes Sam break up with her, he makes Luan get fired which makes her hate her grandpa and makes her question herself if she should pursue comedy, and as the grand finale, Lincoln and Clyde come up with something so stupid that it forces the family to not go to Miami. They called it a sharkodile. Now, Lincoln, thinking that he saved Christmas, actually ruined it for everyone in his family. In the end, when everyone finds out the sharkodile was Lincoln, everyone forgives him for it as soon as he apologizes. They have a big party at the mall and the movie ends with the family sliding down Tall Timbers Hill on a toboggan. That's my summary of the movie, now my rating? 5/10.

A surprisingly decent live action movie adaptation
TheIrishJackomon28 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a fan of TLH, its one of the few Modern Shows I keep up with, and when I saw that there was a live action TLH movie that was Christmas Themed, I had my concerns, but I am surprised that I enjoyed it. So, first of all, let's start with the Positives:

1. Leni, Luna & Lynn are portrayed really well in the movie (most of the characters are imo, but those three are what stood out to me the most)

2. The song Luna sings at the end is really good

3. Bruno does a really good job as Clyde and can't wait to see more of him as Clyde in Season 6

4. The plot is generic, which is to be expected, but its generic enough that you can have it on in the background

5. The CGI reminds me of Spy Kids, which is either good or bad depending on how you view the Spy Kids trilogy, personally, it felt nostalgic

Here are the negatives:

1. I wasn't a fan of Sam's portrayal in this movie

2. There were parts of the movie that felt rushed

3. Some portrayals didn't feel right at all, such as Bobby Santiago & Rita Loud

4. The worst portrayal of the movie however was Lincoln's, I found him to be incredibly rude & selfish in this movie.

A Fantastic Watch!
louddefender1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Now, I've got a lot of things to say. There's gonna be spoilers ahead.

So, being a fan of The Loud House for around 4 years now, I got super giddy when I found out there was a live action movie coming out. I'd start squealing and jumping around whenever a new behind the scenes episode comes out, marking my calendar repeatedly for the awaited day.

Okay, but that last part is exaggerated. But the point is, I was super excited to watch the film.

Where do I begin? The casting is amazing! It's like The Loud House characters literally jumped out of the toon and into real life! This ain't no exaggeration, just plain truth. Along with this, is the amazing props and realistic places they used. I'm seriously awestruck by the accuracy and effort put into this movie. They managed to nail the replication of the entire show, from Franklin Avenue 1216, to the Downtown Mall. It's all really amazing.

But of course, nothing really beats the original, as people say. I'll have to agree that seeing them animated feels much better for some reasons. Beginning with their voices, it just doesn't sound the same. Though, Leni, Lisa, Luan, the twins, Rip Hardcore, Katherine Mulligan, Lynn Senior, and Lincoln and Clyde were terrifyingly accurate. Luna's singing voice in real life is just as good in the cartoon, but Sophia Woodward's speaking voice doesn't match with how raspy Nika Futterman's voice is. I'd say it's close enough!

About the plot itself, it's really generic. It brings me back to the season 1 theme with Lincoln being a selfish jerk to his sisters. I try to mentally justify his actions by thinking "Dude scooped poop and did all that stuff just for his hard work to blow up on his face!". But still, that doesn't really conceal the enormous weight and grief he had caused to not just his sisters, but also the whole town. Pretty hardcore for a 12 year old kid. I mean seriously, what happened to his character development?

I found it really sweet though by the ending when Lincoln admit to his faults and they all hug it out. It's a cliche back in the first few seasons of The Loud House, but knowing how season 5 was, I'd say seeing the whole family have their group hug following the first movie is a blessing. Thank you, Loud crew.

Moving on, I can't really compare this Christmas movie to the first one on a personal level. They're both awesome and entertaining movies, but they all cover different themes and issues. Though, they do show Lincoln's much more insecure side, and I like that touch of realism. But the fact that it's been getting more childish and fantastical is kinda bugging me. Like, are people in this film actually believing that a Sharkodile exists? They could've added a scene where the people were suspicious or something, which ends up with Lincoln crossing the threshold and end up doing something that convinces them that it's real.

I found the movie shorter than expected. But all in all, it's humorous in every way. I was laughing all the way! They've done a really good job in this movie, unrealistic plot and generic storyline aside. I'm giving it a 7 out of 10, for the good cast, and awesome backgrounds making up for the plot. Would recommend!

Should have been done in cartoon form
dotsonrebekah4 December 2021
My 8 year old son is a very big fan of the show. To be honest, it's my favorite one to watch with him. He and I were both excited for the movie. We made a movie night out of it at home with candy and popcorn. He became disinterested quickly. While there were some funny scenes, it was just all around cheesy and didn't depict the characters as well as the cartoon does.

For me, it's like when we were little (90s baby) we loved Hey Arnold and The Rugrats, and when they made the movies they were equally as awesome. Maybe it was bc they stayed true to the original show and what people are used to.

MarthaJonesSmith29 November 2021
Aside from a few bad wigs, this Loud Christmas movie was really good...in the way that the cartoon is good! The sets were amazingly accurate and the child actor who played Lisa was eerily on point! It's comical and fun. Don't critique this as jaded adults, look upon this with the wonderment of a child.

Horrible
davidpovara4 January 2023
This is just bad The plot is absolutely horrible . It s just the same formula that The loud house has done for years. Lincoln is dumb does something terrible bringing miserry to everyone then trays to fix it ,fails.

Then his family understands him . It s not even fun it s stupid .

Secondly the cast it s just horrible . I mean why do live action movies have always bad cast apart from Disney.

Third Lincoln is extremely annoying and only pisis me of the whole movie .

This just fells like a normal Loud house episode but it s 1 h long . It s seems to me like the Loud house francise it s dead . I liked the first two seasons but the rest it s just bad . But that s modern nickelodeon.

Lincoln the Psycho Boy
Robloxreviewer27 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why is Lincoln flanderized. Boy, No one cares about Your little feelings being hurt because your family isn't together No Mo. They had plans! The acting is pretty mediocre too. The effects were pretty Horrible (and makes Henry Dangers effects look better). And the Sound Track is hurting our ears! Most of the characters are absent for some reason. Makes it look like a Episode and not a "Movie". Too much Product Placement. I am pretty sure this movie was only made to rush this out for Christmas. I ain't Watching that "Movie". What is even worse than ever is that this is where The Loud House is now a laughing stock to people, even to the point it feels like it's now a soulless money maker than a thing of its own anymore. What a shame. 1/10.

Oh my freaking god this is the worst christmas movie ever next to rapsittie street kids believe in santa. Not only that it even ruined the loud house itself even though i like the loud house but not this movie of trash. I would prefer The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frozen, Frozen 2 and Ice Age better than this godawful piece of trash.
