Beautiful graphic art, covering almost content-less rehash without ORIGINAL footage
What a chore to watch.
Boring narration, tedious interviews, some dire editing and naff compositional ideas (an interviewee is in one 3rd of the screen while the back of the interviewers head is in two 3rds of it! Lol).
Everything is a 're-enactment/ artist rendition... ie fake footage- usually noted as such, but sometimes not, even when it still is a re-enactment.. The film makers have talent, but so much is wasted on 'affected' techniques, which are just fashionable rubbish- ie -deliberate and poor use out of focus... wonky angles, glitchy editing...and the really annoying use of the 'scratchy film, deteriorated vhs plug-in'. Making the whole debacle almost unwatchable in places.
There is nothing but HEARSAY in this , while there IS a lot of genuine, and seemingly genuine footage, actually available none of it seems to have been used here.
What were they thinking when they made this- who did they actually make it for?
This documentary doesn't prove anything, and it may work to actually negate and belittle any genuine encounters. Someone unfamiliar with these events would probably remain even more unconvinced after watching this- was that its real aim?
All the skill in this (the artwork is beautiful and the fx are very good-for what they are) they should have just made a good fictional film incorporating all the most valid and resonant elements of the tales they've been told.
