Sex & Nudity

  • There are multiple scenes of a man who lusts over a woman because she produces breast milk.
  • The show features numerous scenes of graphic sexual content. This includes 2 scenes of porn, multiple sex scenes, and a few instances of graphic male and female nudity.
  • Stormfront and Homelander have 2 graphic sex scenes. One shows multiple shots of them in different positions while they're fighting. He then lasers her breasts and she enjoys it. But another scene shows Stormfront masturbating Homelander and then they start to have sex.
  • Popclaw with a sexual outfit gets cunnilingus performed on her by sitting on a man's face. She starts thrusting on it and when she climaxes, she gets agitated and applies pressure to the man's head bursting it open. She realizes this later, but his brains are already all over the floor. Very graphic.
  • Two men attempt to rape a woman but they are stopped.
  • Early on in one season, a 'supe' orgy shows people with superheroes having sex graphically. This is shown for a few minutes as people have a conversation in the building.
  • Starlight gets a costume that is much more sexual than she would like, but she is forced to wear it.
  • In S2, a TV shows a naked woman with her bare buttocks close up.
  • A supe turns into a hot naked female & has sex with a male senator. The naked female blindfolds the male senator & sexually rides him while displaying female breast nudity. Before they climax, the supe turns back into a man. Their sex is recorded & this video is shown later displaying the same female breast nudity again. No male nudity.
  • A woman goes into a room and gets sexually assaulted by a superhero.
  • Multiple sex jokes and sexual references.
  • There are couple instances of rape. However, nothing graphic is ever shown during these scenes.
  • At a party, a man has sex with a doll as everyone else watches.
  • The Deep has sex with a woman as he gets turned on when he sees an octopus behind the woman.
  • The Deep gets a blowjob from an octopus.
  • Full male and female nudity.
  • MANY supes are shown either partially and fully nude or engaging in a massive orgy, with just about every sex act one could probably think of is being depicted in extremely graphic detail.
  • The Deep has some sort of body dysmorphia. He has gills that he's very ashamed of, and Homelander tries to make him feel insecure about it. In one scene however, Deep starts to have sex with a woman. She puts her fingers in his gills, and he asks her to stop but she doesn't. He's clearly in pain and is very uncomfortable during this assault.
  • Season 3 includes an orgy sequence through almost an entire episode. Although it's explicit, it's purely comical and comedic.
  • In one season, someone is watching porn. Nothing is shown, but it is implied and you hear some moaning.
  • In S3 Ep6 Herogasm it is a MASSIVE orgy with tons of supes
  • SO1 E1: (SEXUAL CONTENT:8/10)An invisible man reveals he is fully naked. His genitals are seen for a few seconds. Super heroes have sex in a bar in different positions, but it's not graphic.
  • SO1 E2 (SEXUAL CONTENT:6/10)Breasts' nudity for a few seconds and some crude dialogue.
  • SO1 E3(SEXUAL CONTENT:7/10) A woman sits on a man's head in a sexy way and a lot of sexual dialogue is heard from her.
  • SO1 E4(SEXUAL CONTENT:4/10) Mild content and a few sexual references.
  • A man sees a video which shows him having sex with his ex, nothing is seen. A kiss scene and profanity.
  • SO1 E6(SEXUAL CONTENT:4/10) Mentions to genitalia, nothing too graphic and vulgar.

  • SO2 E4(SEXUAL CONTENT:7,5/10)Crude sexual references and 2 mild sex scenes.
  • SO2 E5(SEXUAL CONTENT:7,5/10) Comical sex scene beetween supers without nudity.
  • SO2 E6(SEXUAL CONTENT:7/10) A couple has sex at the beggining of the episode. No nudity is shown.
  • SO2 E7(SEXUAL CONTENT:8/10) male full frontal nudity in a porn video and breast nudity is also shown. The sexual content is exclusively in comical sequences of 2 guys watching adult content.
  • SO2 E8(SEXUAL CONTENT:6,5/10) Homelander is seen masturbating at the end of the episode. We can hear the noises and see the buttocks. Comical and not graphic.
  • SO3 E1(SEXUAL CONTENT:10/10) Extreme aberrant sexual content at the beggining of episode, full frontal nudity and an explicit scene of a super who can reduce his size entering in his partner's penis. We see everything.
  • SO3 E2(SEXUAL CONTENT:3/10) No sexual content, only suggestive dialogue around Soldier Boy having sexual activity in past.
  • SO3 E3(SEXUAL CONTENT:7,5/10) Buttocks nudity and a brief sex scene without nudity.
  • SO3 E4(SEXUAL CONTENT:5,5/10) Buttocks nudity is seen briefly; a woman attacks multiple man with dildos(non sexual)
  • SO3 E5(SEXUAL CONTENT:8/10) crude sexual dialogue and reference and masturbation. Not that bad, played for laughs. Two characters have sex in a way similar to Homelander and Stormfront in episode five of season two.
  • SO3 E6(SEXUAL CONTENT:10/10) Extremely graphic sexual content throught the episode, including full frontal nudity, explicit sexual activity and incredibly graphic sequences of nudity. It almost reaches a pornographic video.
  • SO3 E7(SEXUAL CONTENT:7,5/10)Breast nudity and suggestive scenes. Much milder than the predecessor episode.
  • SO3 E8(SEXUAL CONTENT:0/10) None.
  • Very explicit series overall.
  • Most of the sexual content is comedic and not a ton of explicit activity is shown onscreen. There are a lot of sexual references, sex scenes and nudity but they aren't graphic in a way like Game of Thrones, but are more so executed like a raunchy comedy. In seasons one and two, the sex scenes do not display anything explicit but there is one scene in season three that shows an erect penis explicitly. Otherwise, it is done for laughs and nothing too horrific is displayed.
  • Seasons one and two have mostly moderate sexual content with it verging onto being graphic at times. Season 3 has two episodes (3x1 and 3x6) that have explicit sexual content that would usually be seen in pornography which is shocking even for this series.
  • Season 3 is the most sexually explicit, while seasons 1 and 2 are much more tame compared to 3, yet still graphic.

Violence & Gore

  • In a very sexually disturbing and graphically violent scene, Popclaw accidentally kills a man by crushing his head whilst sitting on his face, caving it in. Tons of blood and gore is seen splattering on the floor, and we see the extremely graphic remains of his split-open head in multiple shots after. With brains poured all over the place and masses of blood surrounding them. The scene is extremely bloody and gory. See the Sex & Nudity section for more details.
  • A baby has laser eyes and uses it to take out three men. The baby cuts them in half and we see large amounts of blood, gore and viscera spraying everywhere. Bloody and gory.
  • A woman is murdered in an alleyway. She gets stabbed and her blood wound is shown as she's lying on the floor dying. Surprisingly, not that much blood is shown in the fight.
  • Translucent and Billy Butcher have a fight. You can see the blood on Translucent floating, then Hughie electrocutes his butt and seen unconscious.
  • Starlight fights a few men in an alleyway who are about to assault a woman. Quite intense.
  • The Female breaks Mesmer's limb.
  • A woman attacks and kills a group of men in various ways, each of them are very graphic and bloody, including her ripping a man's face off cleanly.
  • A-Train gets hit in the leg and blood is shown all around his leg.
  • One supe blows up in a building and kills many people.

  • The Female gets attacked by a man in a building but when she escapes, her nails are shown with blood on them.
  • Starlight saves Hughie and punches a few people in the building.
  • The Female gets beaten up by A-train in a fight. He hits her face against a wall.
  • The character, A-Train, runs straight through another character (Robin), causing her to pretty much explode. Lots of blood and gore shown flying through the air in slow motion with some blood splattering onto the character, Hughie's face. After it happens, Hughie is left holding two hands that were separated from the body at the impact, and he then screams "ROBIN!".
  • The violence overall is EXTREMELY graphic, gory and inordinate. Although it's done in a more comedic fashion like South Park rather than dramatic fashion. However, when it's not, it can be extremely disturbing and unsettling.
  • Billy Butcher is shown being caught in an explosion. However, it is revealed he was saved and he is shown laying on the ground unharmed. It's not revealed until much later, how he survives but he ends up unharmed in both scenarios.
  • In Season 2, a man's bloody arm is shown. A man lets another man slice his arm off and a man's head is slammed and blood spurts. Then, a woman's head comically and briefly explodes.
  • In Season 2, a lot of people's heads explode throughout with extremely bloody results.
  • In one episode from Season 1, a dolphin being rescued by The Deep from captivity gets launched from his car and into the street. It's all shown in slow-motion, and eventually, the dolphin is ran over by a truck, and we see a huge amount of blood splattering all over the road from the distance. This scene is pretty bloody, but it's rather over-the-top, looks kind of fake and mostly played for laughs.
  • Unexpected, bloody scenes can occur while having a walk or just doing your daily routine.
  • In one scene, Homelander slams a man's head on the wall while behaving sexually with Stormfront. Brutal, but not shown for more than ~3 seconds.
  • In Season 2, we see them ram a boat into a whale which kills it. But then, we see them inside the whale covered in blood and guts.

  • While on V-24, Butcher fights Gunpowder and punches him multiple times in the face, partially caving it inwards. He then uses heat vision to partially slice his head in half and you see part of the head fall to the ground.
  • SO1 E1-LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:(8/10)- Parts of a woman's body can be seen flying in a slow motion scene. A fight occurs with punching at the end. Homelander throws a man and he falls.
  • SO1 E2-LEVEL OF VIOLENCE(8,5/10)- A man explodes and we see everything. Guts can be seen after the explosion on the floor.

  • SO1 E4- LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8,5/10) Homelander uses his laser and we see a medium quantity of blood. A woman attacks a group and we see gory details.
  • SO1 E5(8/10) Two men uses a baby as a gun and the baby uses his laser against a group of men. The laser cuts the men in half and we see the dead bodies after the attack.
  • SO1 E6-LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:7,5/10)- The less violent episode of the season, but we see implied injuries and some blood.
  • SO1 E7-LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10) By far the most violent episode of the season. A man smashes other man's head in a bathroom and A-Train is attacked in leg, exposing the bones.
  • SO1 E8(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:8/10) Homelander attacks men and a woman with his laser and we can see gory details. The main characters fight against a super.
  • The first season is rated +16 in Brazil because despite being graphic, the show has comedic and fantasy aspects that reduce the impact of the violence. The third season is rated +18 because the violence had increased in a aberrant way, so does the nudity.
  • SO2 E1 LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9/10)Gruesome violence at the beggining of episode and a gory head explosion.
  • SO2 E2 (LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:7,5/10)The violence just happens 1 time and less than 1 second when a girl graphically breaks a man's neck. Injuries and gore are seen quickly, despite being a brutal attack.
  • SO2 E3(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10)a woman graphically breaks a man's pulse, and the main characters impale a huge whale with a boat. Guts and organs are seen everywhere and the violence is very brutal.
  • SO2 E4(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:5,5/10)By far the less violent of the entire show, no blood or gore but there is a scene where a man breaks another man's neck. Comical and not gory.
  • SO2 E5(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:10/10) Homelander lasers a crowd, however, this is not really seen, only from above. Bloody/gory aftermath seen. Homelander accidentally (after lasering a terrorist) lasers a boy, cutting his stomach open, bloody and gory, seen for a very long time. Very violent instances and a grisly image of a woman ripping out a man's face. By far one of the most shocking episodes.
  • SO2 E6(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9/10) Homelander smashes a man's head in a wall, gore and blood are seen. Acid falls in a man's head and the scene is in close-up, we see everything.
  • Probably the most known sort of violence in the show, Homelander often (in almost every episode) uses his heat vision on people, exploding them into gore.
  • SO2 E7(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9/10) Heads are seen exploding quickly in a bloody sequence. Black Noir fights Starlight.
  • SO2 E8(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10) By far the most violent episode of the season, gory details, stabbing in the eye, carbonized bodies and head explosion. The scenes are prolonged.
  • SO3 E1(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:10/10) Aberrant gory violence in prolonged sequences; a man explodes other from the inside(shots and zooms of the guts) and a woman graphically explodes other man's face.
  • SO3 E2(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10) Disturbing physicological violence; a man explodes in graphic details as usual and at the end of the episode a character's face is cut in half by a laser.
  • SO3 E3(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10) Men are seen exploding in graphic details and The Deep eats his own friend(Timothy), very disgusting and disturbing.
  • SO3 E4(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9/10) A woman attacks multiple men with dildos, gory details and it also include bone cracking.
  • SO3 E5(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:7,5/10) Brief scene of a super being tortured and some blood in a footage sequence and a huge explosion that kills a lot of people(not gory)
  • SO3 E6(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:10/10) A woman brutally stabbs a man MULTIPLE times, a super cuts his own pulse and other extremely gory images are seen in this episode.
  • SO3 E7(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:9,5/10) Strong animated violence; strong bloody violence, headshot and a super smashes a man's head multiple times with his shield.
  • There is much blood & gore in the show, however, the scenarios are very unrealistic and mostly played for laughs. Therefore, it isn't as violent as perceived.
  • SO3 E8(LEVEL OF VIOLENCE:10/10) Extremely graphic blood and gore, a man rips out other man's guts with his own hands, a man graphically sticks his finger in a woman's eye and there is some fighting sequences. A man explodes another man's head with heat vision, and the aftermath is briefly shown.
  • Homelander slicing people in half with his heat vision are the least violent out of all the violence, as it happens in most episodes and viewers can actually get used to it by time.
  • Season one has milder violence than the rest of the show, but still a lot of blood and gore. Season 3 is more violent than both Season 1, 2 and the spin-off Gen V combined. Season 4 is expected also to be explicitly violent.
  • While the first 2 seasons could pass as an R rated movie, season 3 is extraordinarily more gruesome and filled with extreme explicit violence. The third season would likely be rated NC-17.
  • All of the violence in this show is done in a stylistically over-the-top manner where the goriness is done for catharsis rather than to disturb or upset the viewer. There are many scenes that can be considered disturbing, but all of them have a comedic tint to them.

Profanity

  • Constant and pervasive profanity used throughout every single episode. Words like "fuck," "cunt," "shit," "asshole," "twat," "bitch," "dick" etc. are all said repeatedly.
  • Racial slurs and jokes are used.
  • The N-word was used 1 time in Season 1.
  • "Cunt" is mainly said by Butcher throughout almost every episode.
  • Season 1: 400 F-Words, 23 C-Words, Season 2: 373 F-Words, 29 C-Words, Season 3: 474 F-Words, 21 C-Words. Therefore in total, there are 1243 F and 73 C-words. However, this is not the only profanity, racial slurs & more minor swearing is used even more often. See the points above. In conclusion, this is one of the most profane shows of all time.
  • Each season is more profane than the previous one.
  • The show contains strong language just as The Sopranos, South Park, and Big Mouth.
  • Season 3 has much more profanity than the previous two seasons.
  • The word "cunt" is used by a character in each episode of the series, but the word is not used in a derogatory or offensive manner. It is used by an British character who uses it for comedic effect.
  • The most frequent swears are fuck, cunt and shit.
  • The C-Word is used frequently. Although the character who uses it is British, where that word is as severe as @ss and b*tch. It's still an American show so the word is still used and it's a severe one so keep that in mind.
  • A lot of Cursing god.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some drug use but not too much.
  • A woman injects herself with a drug as if it were heroin.
  • Frenchie offers Hughie a candy flip, a combination of LSD and MDMA. Hughie declines so Frenchie takes it and then rolls and smokes a joint.
  • Most drug use in this series is either implied drug use or usuage of a fictional drug.
  • The drug use is fairly frequent but it is never really condoned or glorified.
  • In Season 3, there are some party scenes where cocaine is consumed.
  • Season 3 contains way more drug use.
  • There are vapes and cigarettes used throughout the show.
  • Drinking throughout. Cigarette smoking throughout. Marijuana is smoked occasionally. Many scenes of cocaine use. A man takes LSD. Another takes magic mushrooms. Some MDMA use. A man snorts Amphetamines. There are also scenes where characters snort what are implied to be opiates
  • Temp v is essentially a drug that gives people temporary super powers, used in season 3, and is learned that over 3 doses can kill someone.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The show's violence is graphic, bloody, and it is shown in all detail. But at the same time, it is quite stylized and a bit over the top. Therefore not as intense or disturbing, more comedic than dramatic.
  • There is a scene where Homelander and Maeve attempt to rescue a plane that was hijacked. Some mistakes are made and the events that follow are quite upsetting to watch.
  • The character Homelander is an extremely frightening and disturbing presence, being a narcissistic, psychotic and sadistic megalomaniac with the mental and emotional maturity of a grade school bully who pleasures himself in hurting others. As such, any scene with him can be very intense.
  • There are some graphically violent scenes that can be disturbing to watch.
  • Stormfront's backstory may upset or frighten viewers.
  • Hughie is shown to be suffering from severe PTSD, which has been triggered by the violent and gruesome death of his girlfriend, Robin. The depiction is quite raw and realistic, and it may be disturbing.
  • The whole show is incredibly violent and explicit.
  • The show can get very emotional and sad at times.
  • The deaths may be intense or disturbing for some viewers.
  • Butcher's childhood is very sad and hard to watch.
  • The extent of most of (but not all of) the violence and nudity in this series exceeds an MPA R rating, which has been surrendered, and would likely step into NC-17 territory much like the entire franchise itself, and it also affects many other TV-MA or BBFC 18 series.
  • The deep assaults starlight, and his character goes through alot of pain, and is never really redeemed for his actions, but his pain involves others which may upset people, not particularly upset for the deep since he's a cruel guy.
  • SO1 E6(IMPACT:6/10) Homelander's presence is mysterioulsy unpredictable and it may be intense for some viewers.
  • SO1 E8(IMPACT:7/10) Bloody violence may be frightening to some viewers, despite being quick scenes.
  • SO2 E1(IMPACT:8/10) Unexpected moments filled with strong violence, it may be frightening for some viewers. Graphic instances of violence, head explosion.
  • SO2 E2(IMPACT:7,5/10) Quick violent scene may be frightening to sensitive audiences.
  • SO2 E6(IMPACT:9/10) Frightening, but less than the predecessor episode due to the comical atmosphere of the show. But still graphic and gross.
  • SO2 E3(IMPACT:10/10) Gruesome violence and an animal death may with gory details. One of the most disturbing and cruel episodes.
  • SO2 E4(IMPACT:3/10) One scene of comical violence, by far the tamest episode of the show.
  • SO2 E7(IMPACT:8/10) A disturbing scene of heads exploding in gory details. Very unexpected and shocking.
  • SO2 E8(IMPACT:9/10) Frightening and emotional ending filled with gory representations of mutilation and carbonized body.
  • SO3 E3(IMPACT:9,5/10) A man is forced to eat his own friend, incredibly disgusting and disturbing. The scene is prolonged and sadic, but it has a dark humour sense.
  • SO3 E4(IMPACT:8,5/10) Bloody violence may be frightening to some viewers, but the comical aspect of the scene lesses the impact.
  • SO3 E2(IMPACT:9/10) Sensitive themes and disturbing gory images.
  • SO3 E4(IMPACT:9/10) Very unexpecting moments and strong violence may disturb some viewers.
  • SO3 E5(IMPACT:8/10) Torture scene at the beggining of the episode may cause discomfort in some viewers.
  • SO3 E6(IMPACT:9,5/10) Bloody strong violence and extreme instances of sexual content may be uncomfortable to some viewers.
  • The intensity and violent, sexual and drug content increase in severity with each season and eventually become extreme in season three. While there are only a handful of episodes to have explicit sexual content, the ones that do are very graphic. Each episode of the third season has extreme violence while only some in the first two seasons do.
  • The entire series is very graphic in nearly all forms, but should be fine for teens 15/16+, depending on their maturity level.
  • Rated TV-MA for strong grisly graphic brutal bloody sci-fi action violence and gore, disturbing sadistic content, language throughout, strong graphic crude and sexual content/nudity, and drug use.
  • Totally extreme in everything.
