Valuing Human Life

Warning: Spoilers
"Iterum Nata" (A New Beginning) starts by recapping the deaths of the two arch villains. The poor boy from Nebraska, Elliott Brandstetter, was terminated by his own lethal concocation shortly after sending the file containing the secrets of biochemical plot to a mysterious woman. His henchman, the oily Dawkins, met his end at the bottom of a well deep below the family farm of Em and her dad.

The loose ends to be tied up in this final episode point to two women who were facilitating the dastardly plot to attain power and use it to the detriment of humanity. Em, Nick, Cal, and Crown work closely to piece together the story of Brigitte Kerlan, the head of the pharmaceutical conglomerate and the key player working with Elliott Brandstetter.

Nick and young Flynn go into hiding with Gramps after a fake explosion in their home made it appear as though they were killed. Em bids farewell to her family, as she proceeds to entrap the two remaining ringleaders.

Em works closely with Jimmy at the arcade to release the file data publicly that will incriminate and lead to the arrest of Brigitte Kerlan. Project Quill was the reality behind the facade of Brigitte's philanthropic work. An especially cold individual, Brigitte escorted in handcuffs out of her high-rise office and into a squad car. Don't bump your head as you are entering the vehicle, Brigitte.

The second facilitator is Julianne Gunnarsen, who was the individual responsible for sending the file to Dawkins and for giving away the location of poor little Kai at the mall. Miss Gunnarsen looks great in her orange jumpsuit, as she likely faces years in prison where she may contemplate the circumstances of wanting to feel "special." Her ex-lover the law professor, was apparently completely bamboozled by her feckless paramour.

Young Flynn has learned from his experience that "in life, you don't make choices out of fear, but in spite of it." Another truth comes from the prison conversation between Em and her nemesis Gunnarsen, who never thought twice about murdering Alice Durand. Gunnarsen aspired to living among the privileged. But Em reminds her of the value of human life.

The denouement depicts Em working undercover in Europe at Café Sofia's and receiving a surprise visitor in Cal. The battle continues, the hope remains strong, and the quest for truth will never die.

When producers call to tell you that the show won't be renewed for the next season
framedformurder23 July 2020
Seriously, this episode was absurd on a conceptual level. They've spent the whole season trying to make something out of a story that would work better as 90-minute straight-to-DVD movie and when big guys called them to tell that this is their last season, writers decided to go all in: they've presented the new storyline that could easily be groundwork for a fourth season and wrapped it and the whole series up in less than 55 minutes. I think that it's the new benchmark for the rushed endings. I applaud everyone who made it possible!
