The topic and quality of this film are bad. This is a B movie at best, more like a high school play. The acting is bad, direction is amateur, plot is by crayons. Just as study after study shows, the hands up narrative used by Michael Brown is fake. If you remember, the title of the movie is taken from that case where a dozen witnesses said he had his hands up and was begging for his life when he was shot by the cop. At trial, they all recanted. Turns out he had just committed another felony and had assaulted the cop and tried to take his weapon when he was shot. This movie is that silliness played out on the big screen but with the lie intact. Skip it.

Not worth the time

I was expecting the movie to be about Black Lives Matter movement based off of the shooting of Mike Brown. Was I highly disappointed? Yes, yes I was. The movie didn't line up with the title. Very amateur directing and acting. Not worth the watch.
Embarrassing cliched political garbage.

This is what happens when wokeness green lights a project that would otherwise be laughed out of every serious producer's office. It seems that every aspect of this film was made through the prism of BLM. I'm embarrassed for everyone involved. It is the definition of cliched nonsense. Were any of the filmmakers or cast actual professionals? This seems to be the result of a community project where everyone shared jobs and CRT was read aloud at call time so everyone knew how they were supposed to think. There are fantastic black filmmakers and actors available to make excellent cinema, no-one involved in this absolute garbage can be considered anything other than an utter joke. Would make a good double bill with the new Karen movie for the woke brigade to applaud in their ignorance.
What a disappointment

This movie is pure fantasy propaganda. Besides the acting, directing etc being beyond horrible, none of this ever happened in real life.
From the tired stock footage in the opening to the wooden over the top bad acting you can easily skip this mess.

Hats off to the director and executive producer of this movie!! This is the first movie and directorial premiere for the director/writer! I thought the movie was very good and captured a weekend of events of real life in Chicago!!! Anyone from the Westside of Chicago will appreciate seeing familiar neighborhoods and landmarks and the majority of the actors/extras in the movie are from the neighborhood and it was really COOL seeing them shining brightly on the big screen! Please don't let the negative reviews distract you from watching...give the movie a chance for yourself! Can't wait for the writer/director to make his next film!! (Shout out to Atwater (Chicago P. D) so handsome!!)

Impactful Messaging!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved the messaging and will power of the main character captured in this film! The display of everyday struggles that inner city youth face is very real and has deep historic depth. Many fail to acknowledge the message unfortunately when dialog captures a glimpse of reality.
Unfortunately, the political climate around these issues are high and call to people to "take a side" versus humanitarian based intrigue. Many minorities have expressed for decades the unjust killing and incarceration of their family, friends and associates which most know is (proportionately) true.
As a debut film from the producer/director, I appreciate the ability to show compassion, depth and creativity in displaying so many complex issues.
