Background viewing

I don't think anyone could just sit and watch this without doing something else at the same time. It's too dull for that kind of focus. Everything is slow -- they had a couple of scenes where they literally baked cookies and cleaned a van. That's just not particularly entertaining, and yet this movie does have a bit of charm.

My main complaint is the childish writing. A lot of "Looks like someone's in LOVE?" types of lines from the side characters and too many linguistic slip-ups from the leads (ex. Asking "Do you like me?" instead of "Do you like these?" as if that's even a possible slip-up.)

But it's Hallmark, you know what you're getting with it, and it delivers on that expectation.

Play it in the background while doing chores
hallmarkmov28 May 2021
This movie was pretty bland. Nothing exciting, nothing interesting. Another fashion themed movie, overused soundtrack, throw in a property the main character inherits, random outburst with 20 minutes left of the movie and quickly made up within last 5 minutes. Got bored 10 minutes in and started doing house chores. You can play it in the background and look up occasionally to get the gist. Wished the movie tied more into the title. I guess love's second chance referred to the used clothing business? Other than that I didn't see the connection.

Poor all around
Jackbv12311 January 2022
The first thing that struck me was how unnatural the acting was in almost all the characters. That made me wonder if it was the directing or just a poor cast since I am not familiar with practically any of them. Gabrielle Christian and Matthew Smalley were so unnatural that their characters seemed weird. Both of them and Cody Ray Thompson seemed like they were trying too hard. At times I wanted to see more of Anna than Rose. I would say that Sarah Christine Smith was horrible, except I think that was exactly how she was meant to be - an over-the-top Influencer.

The story is bad on several levels. It does seem like it was written by a kid. It was a little confusing exactly what Rose was trying to do. The incident and follow-up that caused the conflict were stupid. What if the owner of record was an absentee landlord or corporation? On the other hand, what led to it should have caused some friction. And then by magic the inevitable happened. Poof.

There was also some stupid dialogue. "Do you like me. It. These fabrics?" followed by "Yeah, you're great... they're great" is just one example.

Not the usual Hallmark standards
ukheather8 August 2021
I have seen a lot of Hallmark films and know the usual standard is about the same.

This was the worst hallmark I have ever seen. The acting was very poor! Never seen acting this bad in a hallmark film.

My mom loves hallmark movies but even she hates this
garobin418 January 2022
My mom watches hallmark all day every day, and yet even she couldn't get through this whole movie. By the halfway mark the only thing keeping us watching was roasting it to death. The acting is SO awkward to the point where some scenes feel unbearable to watch because it's just so cringey. The plot is even more contrived than your typical hallmark movie. Would not recommend unless you like bad movies.

Terrible Acting
drkskyes9 July 2022
This is some of the worst acting I've seen in a very long time. The characters don't seem real and the lines are stilted as they are presented. It would have been better to be presented as a high school play.

Almost good, but misses a few things.

This is better than some Reel One movies, but not quite as good as Colours of Love (based on the book Tycoon's Kiss) etc. I like that no matter what stage in life the characters are in, they are all trying to find purpose and adapt to constantly changing situations.

However, the lead fella is often treated like rubbish - everyone, including his brother, expects him to work for nothing yet even the brother judges him for not being able to afford a home! Reel One movies often have such lines which are meant to be plot set ups but actually end up being quite nasty, and there's a few in this one, like a stranger commenting on how pregnant a woman is as they are introduced. That sort of ill thought writing puts me off these movies and is one of the reasons they are inferior.

Accidental (I hope) insults aside, the movie is essentially all-age friendly, but I'm not sure they are particularly a good example or even interesting for youngsters, or other ages for that matter.

Ho Hum!

Warning: Spoilers
Too many critics blame these movies on Hallmark. Just because it's made in Canada doesn't make it a Hallmark movie, especially if it's a recent movie. That said, this movie is definitely in the minor league which I saw on the UpChannel. The business plot was a bit hard to follow. The lead actors were stiff with little chemistry; liked the secondary leads. I always pay attention to the Big Kiss at the end. Not great.

nice. at final.

Obvious, not the most brilliant Hallmark romance. The basic motives - the bad dialogue and the modest acting . Not the last, the boring cliches , not sustained, in this case, by nothing.

But the cinema evening and the crumbs of Charles Chaplin gags, the mobil fashion shop - I know, a cliche used too much , by pretty in this case -, the prepairs of baby bed are just charming.

Sure, a film demonstrating the lack of inspiration and a sort of improvisation not very clever but , being only a Hallmark, the high expectations about it can be only eccentricities.

Knowing the end, it is easy to see it as reasonable option after a tough work day.
