From the outset, this film portrayed Putin as a threat to humanity and freedom. However, the film nicely showed Putin rise to power from ranks within the KGB until he replaced Boris Yeltsin as leader. The are graphics images of the barbaric war in Chechnya, and how Putin's used the Chechen cause to further his own political aspirations. The are several interviews with the so called exiled 'Oligargs' who portray themselves are victims of Putin's crackdown on corruption. Needless to say, they didn't really have much to say about how they made their fortunes after the collapse of Russia, and their Mafia connections. I must say, that I had to laugh when I saw footage of Dick Cheney in a press conference talking about freedom and totalitarianism. After looking at the US under the Bush regime, and the war in Iraq and Afghanistan I would say that I found it very hard to agree with him ! I would recommend this film to everybody, but would also advise that you read up on the 'true' events of Russia and Mr. Putin in order to get balance of opinions, as this film is very much a crusade against the 'next Stalin'.
Note: seen on CBC's "The Passionate Eye".
This 'documentary' on Putin's rise to power and relationship to the oligarchy, former KGB agents, and even the Russian mafia, is a reasonably well-made but very biased and hardly insightful film.
There thankfully isn't too much 'fact doctoring' ala Michael Moore and many other 'documentary' filmmakers who followed in his footsteps, but this is a very one-sided presentation (and I'm no Putin supporter), and the facts that are in the film can be found in any first year political science textbook. I suppose for those unfamiliar with Putin's rise to power this would be a good enough introduction, but it's hardly as good as it could have been.

That is a very disturbing documentary. I was concerned about the people who were interviewed and are on the black list of Russia. I am heart-broken for the dissidents of Russia who fought against Communism and lost as well as the kids who were sentenced to jail because they asked Putin to resign. Whether the author's statement that who holds oil industry of the world he runs the world but I agree that what happened/s in Russia should interest not just people in Russia but all the world. It shows Putin's character well and open's the eyes of the viewers. It shows that people from the West who have not experienced the soviet regime on their skin can comprehend what "Russian democracy" is all about.
Documentary (biography) very propitious for the moment, eminent war Russia x Ukraine, orchestrated by Vladimir Putin, ambitious, egocentric and devoid of humanity, ... A totalitarian and fascist government that relies on its two bases of nuclear hegemony, with its pumps and energy, with a gas monopoly throughout Europe extending to other continents, nationalizing private properties and killing opponents at will...
