First Movie For My Toddler
nonsensehere25 August 2021
My almost 4 year old daughter enjoyed this movie. It had its cute moments but I have definitely enjoyed some other animated films more. This movie is special though because it was the first film My daughter saw in the big theater. My husband and daughter really liked this film and gave it 10/10.

Fun movie for kids
ivanmessimilos1 September 2021
The popular cartoon series for children also got its feature film. As expected instead of one rescue they now had to add a few of them to the film however I didn't see any problem there. The puppies leave their bay and go to a big city where, as expected, they then have a great adventure. The film has its main story that is followed by several smaller ones. Each puppy got his moment in the film where they shone, but one puppy got a big part in the film where we see also a part of his past, all in order to teach us a valuable lesson. A few funny scenes, a lot of expected and quite predictable scenes with questionable logic, but still this is a movie where little dogs save people from difficult and dangerous situations, and besides it is a movie for children so they are all forgiven. Also a plus for the film is that it doesn't look like some extended episode but like a standalone film that is an upgrade to the whole series. A fun movie for kids.

Did we have to get a Paramount+ account so my kids could watch it again after seeing it in the theater? Yep.
jace_the_film_guy14 September 2021
This film accomplished exactly what it set out to do; it was a fun, summer film that my kids fell in love with. As someone who has seen nearly every episode of Paw Patrol due to my four young children, there were some great callbacks to the series. The animation was fantastic, the music was surprisingly good and there were enough jokes to keep parents invested.

At its core, the film had a great story of overcoming fear and adversity, while also sticking together as a team. The antagonist was oversimplified and lacked depth, but that's what you expect in a children's movie.

Paw Patrol: The Movie not as brilliant as a Pixar film, but it's not unwatchable like some other animated features. The film had a specific target audience, and it nailed its core objective.

Did we have to get a Paramount+ account so my kids could watch it again after seeing it in the theater? Yep.

Have they watched it a dozen times since then? Absolutely.

Do they want to buy all the new "Paw Patrol: The Movie" characters and toys? You better believe it!

Unexpectedly entertaining
Gordon-1121 August 2021
This film may be for young children, but I unexpectedly enjoyed it a lot. I find it very entertaining. The dogs are very cute, and their adventures are a lot of fun.

Good Family Fun
S_dot_M_dot22 August 2021
When Ryder and his team of team of pups must travel to Adventure City to stop Mayor Humdinger from destroying the city. Adventure awaits, as some of the pups not only face off against the Mayor, but also themselves.

This is a strong effort from an already established series. They touch on some important topics young kids are going to face and do so in a way that teaches them to believe in themselves. The animation holds up and they weave in some classic camera tricks at the same time. There are a few jokes to keep the adults entertained and a few solid action sequences.

I did feel like this was the perfect opportunity to update the theme song, but being as the target audience are children that already enjoy the show, I understand why the left it alone. Even though there were a few jokes in there, they could have done a bit more for the older audience.

Overall, I enjoyed my time watching this. The writers did nice work pacing this to keep it running smooth and taught the kids something along the way. This is a win for everyone involved.

PAW Patrol
MB-reviewer18521 August 2021
I saw some episodes of the PAW Patrol series when it was just on tv, so I knew what it was about and that kids like watching it and I had no problem with that.

Ryder and the rest of the pups on the team are all likable characters, the animation has improved since the show and is really pretty even the story fits with the theme of the show.

The villain is silly but I can see kids being entertained by it along with fun action and a pretty cool 3rd act, also there are effective emotional scenes.

Its PAW Patrol The Movie, I got what I expected. Its for kids and I can see them really enjoying this even if you have never seen the show you will still like it.

Usual bad jokes plus some new annoying characters
schmohawk-5122623 August 2021
How can you make this movie even worse? Add Kim Kardashian and an extremely annoying new pup named Liberty. I get that she is supposed to be streetwise and a city dog, but that doesn't make her any less annoying.

You've got mayor humdinger doing things that nobody could possibly get away with, a nine year old driving around town, and talking dogs.

Only thing good (read: tolerable) about this movie is how it looks.

First cinema experience for my son
siransom-198415 August 2021
Took my son to see this this afternoon. Could not have been a better experience. Our son is autistic so we weren't sure how he'd react sitting still for so long... He sat, for the entirety of the movie! He clapped, he got excited in certain parts but most importantly he sat still eating his popcorn from beginning to end!! πŸ˜€ very, very proud parents here. I love all things cinema, film and TV so this means so much to me.

Also, film was pretty decent to be fair. Didn't feel like a lengthy episode. It felt like an actual new movie 🎬

As a childless adult who loves animation
Galop_Inferno21 August 2021
First off, I have never seen PAW Patrol prior to this movie. I know what it is and children having something to entertain them isn't wrong, by all means one that promotes friendship, family and all those good values, especially in comparison to the content on Disney and Cartoon Network. The film is in no short supply.

10 year old Ryder and his team of rescue pups are summoned to the nearby Adventure City by adoring fan Liberty, as the Patrol's arch-nemesis Humdinger has become mayor. The large ham villain steals a weather device to control rain and shine, and it's up to the squad to put a stop to it. But Chase, the police pup, has a bad past there.

I'm going out on a limb here that, because it's for the big screen, the animation quality is better than the series. The voice acting is top notch, save for a (probably) three-minute cameo by Kim Kardashian, whose role as a stuffy poodle serves no use whatsoever other than being the royal pain we all know her as. Of the more profile names, I'd single out Yara Shahidi and Jimmy Kimmel; Yara as a young scientist whose scientific jargon flies over almost everyone's heads, and Jimmy as the aptly named reporter Marty Muckraker.

One thing I couldn't get out of mind is the thought that Canada is mocking the US, in that Humdinger is such an unabashed expy of a certain reality TV host and "businessman", adults will see it from the get-go. There's also a self-awareness that the franchise exists to sell toys, and I'm sure Spin Master has already made all the toys they can. I mean, with all these Transformer-style vehicles, the merch better hold up.

Being a first-time viewer, I had random questions, including the location of Ryder's parents, the fact that he can drive, where did all these other dogs come from, who would allow a man like Humdinger to run for- no, wait, we know the answer to that. Kids won't notice these nitpicks, and I guess it's what works.

Overall, from the eyes of a casual, uninitiated viewer, PAW Patrol: The Movie is a fun time passer for the kiddos, and the parents will find something to chuckle at as well.

This was just bad.
Bubba3261830 August 2021
This was bad but the animation looks really nice and it has Jimmy Kimmel in it so that's a plus. Kim Kardashian plays a dog in this and her acting is awful. I hated that she was in this so much but what did I expect at the same time from Paw Patrol: The Movie. The movie isn't funny, the villain is very basic, the movie is very predictable. The dog Liberty isn't a good character at all. The dialogue is also horrible. This was just bad. Now, I know this wasn't made for me and that this made for a completely different demographic but this was just really bad. #Humdinger.

Good Fun!

Paw Patrol

A full throated action movie with 5 puppies and a boy, the so called Paw Patrol, as action heroes.

Over this was a great movie with the target audience being very young children, the animation was bright and crisp and the characterisations were really quite brilliant. I loved the scoring!

However I would make two niggling observations:

The negative characters:

Litter man on tube - middle aged white man

Mayor humdinger - middle aged white man

Evil henchmen - middle aged white men

Man blocking rescue in car - middle aged white man.

Can anyone spot the pattern!

Secondly to have the central story of puppy struggling with an untreated mental health condition is all a bit touchy-feely for a very young child's movie.

I'm giving this a firm 6 outta 10 for good fun!

Fantastic (for Paw Patrol)
Cappomutato26 August 2021
For what it is, it's really great. I'm glad they didn't try to square the cartoon universe with reality. They really improved the look without crossing into gritty realism. It was a shame that the characters with the most lines were recast, but that's the nature of the business with kid voice actors. Stunt casting Iain Armitage as Marshall was pointless. Giving Kim Kardashian West a role was a terrible decision, but at least it was a tiny role. The music was surprisingly restrained for a modern kids' feature film. It stands a good chance of not sounding horribly dated in five years. In the end, it's a fancy toy commercial with an authoritarian bent, exactly what Paw Patrol fans want.

Some cats
ray11520 August 2021
Famous TV series on the big screen. Definitely recommended for all the youngest cinema visitors even if they haven't seen the series. All others got what is expected - some rescue missions, some bad people, some heroic behaviour; and not expected - some cats.

A new beginning for Paw patrol
terryajoseph13 August 2021
To A lot of people paw patrol is a kid show. But after watching this movie... I feel like I am a new fan of them. As an animation lover, the way they animated the pups are simply too adorable to resist. Story line isn't bad either. Following the kids show premise, with character back story and development in it. You get a full movie.

I m 24. And I cried. A few times... One of the character goes through something that I understand deeply. And every time I see it... every time I cry. This movie will remind you that even the big and strong can be mentally hurt. And that it doesn't mean they are weak.

Not just a feature length episode. Surprisingly good.
petelaws15 August 2021
Ignoring the fact this is Paw Patrol, this pawsome movie stands mighty on its own merits and is a fun, cool, exciting adventure from start to finish. This isn't just 86 minutes of what you get on TV. This is all new, revamped Paw Patrol which has been redrawn in a new style and modernised for its cinema audience. And ifs fantastic.

The story starts off in the familiar Adventure Bay and we are re-introduced to the characters with a typical rescue from Rider and his team of mighty pups. Then the narrative whisks us off to Adventure City where Mayor Humdinger is up to his naughty tricks once more and its up to the Paw Patrol to save the day again.

Its exciting from start to finish and the story is surprisingly good considering its source material. Chase takes centre stage with strong character development that delves in to his origin story and tells you how he became part of Riders rescue team of puppies. The only downside really that I can think of is that we didn't see enough of some of the other pups. It was too focused on Chase who I think is the dullest of the crew but it can be argued this was the point of his story. Rubble brings some comic relief from time to time but nowhere near enough and the likes of Rocky and Zuma are nothing more than background extras. Without giving anything anyway the squad also meet a new pup who serves as a guide to Adventure City and gets second billing after Chase.

The graphics and direction is superb and nothing less than what you would expect from a summer blockbuster animation movie. All of the team get brand spanking new costumes and vehicles and are showcased in the action brilliantly. My 4 year old little girl who is a big fan of the franchise already, loved every moment of it - laughing and clapping throughout and shrieked with glee on more than a few occasions. It even managed to pull on her heart strings and there was a moment i swear I heard a sniffle. By the end she was dancing on the floor in front of us and wanted to stay and watch it again when the credits rolled up.

This movie is an absolute blast and the Paw Patrol certainly are on a roll with this one.

A bit too scary
annahsvensson21 August 2021
The first part of the movie is pretty much perfect, very light and in the spirit of the show. Near the end it goes kind of dark, with a lot of explosions, storms, collapsing sky scrapers, angst... my 4 yo was terrified, thinking that Chase was going to die by burning, falling och getting squished under a rock. Seriously? Why so violent?

Add to that no real message and no story beyond "Humdinger does random stupid stuff".

It was entertaining enough and my 7 yo liked it a lot, but I do feel they missed the Paw Patrol age group. My 4 yo loves PP, the 7 yo usually think they are childish. This movie scared my 4 yo and entertained my 7 yo.

Fans will like it, not much for others
AdrenalinDragon7 September 2021
Perfect for Toddlers and Fans, not much to offer for anybody else. Paw Patrol: The Movie is a super basic formulaic Animated rescue film. It's stupid to get too worked over it as it entertained my very young Nephew. The Fans will have a blast with it and some of the music is a bit catchy.

They seemed to put more effort into this compared to what I've seen of the TV series. Animation is simple and clean. Voice work is fine for what it is. Could watch worse movies honestly. Jokes are a bit weak, but hey it does the job if you need a young kid or Fan to entertain.

3.5/10 (6/10 for Fans)

Surprisingly Good!
mgentalen28 August 2021
I had never heard of Paw Patrol before I saw the trailers for the film, went this afternoon; thought it would be terrible to say the least, yet enjoyed it!

Paw Patrol has a super simple story,, pups acting as emergency responders. Granted the story is completely unbelievable, but the animation was stellar and had a good script. I generally avoid animation, but I would come back to this adventure if ViacomCBS produces a sequel!
