I think it is a little better than other ratings. It had a good story that was different to other vampire movies. So just go with it and not worry too much about anything deep.

This version is closer to the original. They can't be in sunlight, and they can only drink blood. No Eating at all. Otherwise it is a fairly simple plot..haha.. They also left an opening for a baby to be added to the script for season 2 if it gets that far.
Definitely worth watching during the lock-down.

I'm a sucker for all things supernatural but I just couldn't enjoy this series because of its flaws.
Let's start with the positives. The world in which the characters lived was interesting. The centre points of the story were also intriguing. Vampires have been used in series for a long time but this series provided some new aspects to the used trope. These facts made the series watchable for me.
I watched this with subtitles as I don't speak French. I noticed that sometimes when there were subtitles no one was speaking and it was weirdly quiet for a long time. This happened quite a few times. I don't know if the problem is only on my Netflix account but if not it's a huge mistake that could've easily been fixed.
The characters were very angry most of time. Sometimes for an unknown reason to me. That was actually a carrying theme throughout the series: people doing and reacting to things without any context. I found it quite funny how someone would start screaming over nothing but it doesn't make the series any better. I can't say that the acting was good either. There were a lot of empty stares...
The actions and decisions the characters made were surprising but not in a good way. Most of them were sudden and/or not in line with the characters previous decisions. The characters were overall build in a way that left them distant to me. I didn't find myself caring for them.
The bright colorful lights and the twisting and turning of the camera at some of the scenes was weird. Not "artistic" or "new". Weird. I also HATE when the camera is very close in front of a moving person but it doesn't move with the person and just stays still. It just doesn't look good and it was used in this series.
And wtf was up with that blood drinking?! So loud and forceful :D

Interesting story hamstrung by some tropes

Even with the teen drama aspects, this still pulls off a fairly captivating story. It isn't as deep as White Wolf's World of Darkness, but it does a good job. Unfortunately, it falls victim to many overused vampire tropes.

Not sure if the writing fell short or Netflix decision to okay 6 episodes instead of 8 or more assisted in low ratings for the series. Of course viewers want season 2 to receive closure for many unanswered questions and maybe possible redemption for Netflix!
Unusual approach to vampires

Interesting show, it treats vampires as people with a genetic mutation, vampirism can't be transferred through bite and it isn't supernatural. Because the condition runs in families, it creates some interesting character dynamics. The show also looks very "real", the actors aren't attractive and look like average people while the production design looks intentionally low-budget and dirty, but it works to the show's advantage. I hope there's a second season, this is a nice middle ground between boring animalistic feral vampires like in the Strain and the lovely-dovey high school vampires like in...almost everything.

The series was watchable but not great. The show revolves around Doina, but her character is completely uncompelling, unintelligent and does completely random foolish things. The show is stylish but overall is not a well made TV series.

I cannot understand how this could have a low rating. I loved everything about it. Great writing, great acting - interesting, dark and clever. I found this show to be compelling and engrossing from start to finish. I don't usually write reviews and I'll make this short and sweet: excellent! Watch it now!!

Series has potential but the teenage daughter Doina makes you not want to complete the series. Her character is awful or maybe that is what the writers wanted, for the viewer to dislike her. Her character is frustrating, annoying not like any other vampire show but instead a rebellious annoying teenage kid that you wish she would just get killed off from the first or second episode. If they do make a season 2 I hope they write off her character. If it wasn't for the other characters in the series I would have not continued to watch this.

A teen show similar to Teen Wolf but French (there is nudity!), gender-flipped and vampires instead of werewolves. Nothing new here but if you miss Teen Wolf (when it's still good) and Hemlock Grove you can give this a watch. Especially now since we're on lockdown not dissimilar to being a vampire.

Really great story, brilliant cast! Although, it would seem that most people can't live without the characters being played by picture perfect barbie dolls?! Otherwise I think it would be getting a much higher and much deserved rating!!

The subject and the processing of the subject were very interesting. I watched the entire series, even though I wasn't very interested in vampire stories. I do not understand why it is not liked, I hope it will be season 2.

I quite enjoyed this. But eventually it broke too many Vampire rules.
My first experience of Vampire films were the Hammer ones. There were others before them, but the Hammer films set what would become the modern standard in Vampire disposal and things that Vampires should avoid at all costs! No fire. No running water. No stakes through the heart. No garlic. Etc...
They turn to ash when they meet their ugly demise. And because they're undead demons, they don't breath! Vampires not breathing becomes very significant when we watch the head Vampire die by suffocation in the last episode! 😱
Maybe this series is some sort of Vampire cancel culture thing! Everything we've read and seen in the past never happened! 😁
If you can get your head around the "new rules", it's worth watching. The story idea is quite good despite being far fetched, and the acting isn't bad by modern day standards. So give it a try. 🙂

The main actress, the young girl was written so poorly, she made it painful whenever she was on screen, the mother has a great body I have to say but erratic the whole show. It was weird in a bad way.
Without the gimmick of vampires, what is this story? I cannot say at all.
The strange evil woman with the face burn, terrible actress.
The only one who had any sort of weight about them was the old lady, her 2 mins of scenery were the better parts of the show.
