Second Sight

Vicky undergoes a procedure to reverse twenty years of blindness, which is a success, as she opens her eyes she sees her husband Barry, and their daughter.

This was such an unusual drama, the theory for most people who never have to worry about their sight would surely be that those that are blind or partially sighted would have an easy time adjusting to life should their vision return. This drama questions the everything's fine theory.

Life for Vicky seemed somehow easier when she was blind, she questions whether her feelings for those around her were real, or if they were somehow based on her dependency.

The moving on name truly does suit this drama, imagine seeing someone for the first time in twenty years, having lived with them for all that time. Very interesting.

Ainsworth was terrific, she's shown in Grantchester just how good she really is, and I thought she did a great job here.

Very good, 8/10.
