As if the casting on this show couldn't get any better, here comes Linda Hamilton. This episode had some great laugh out loud moments. Darcy walking out with the plate of pancakes lol Can't wait to see where all this is going.

Elvy is divine

Am I the only one who thought Ruth Negga had walked on the set when Harry's wife appeared? But no, it was Elvy, an actress new to me who did several scenes with Alan Tudyk. The surprise of the episode--my first--was how alien several characters seemed. That weird sheriff, his strange deputy, where do they come from? It was nice seeing Linda Hamilton again, without an assault rifle in her hands. I give it 7.
It just keeps getting better ...

Glad to see comedy cop duo getting a bit more air time. This show just keeps getting better and better. Linda Hamilton was an absolute plus - hope to see more of her (won't give away plot points though :-))
By episode 2 or 3 I thought this had a real chance at being a hit - by episode 6 I REALLY HOPE it's a hit. Always leaves me wanting more, and wishing the episode lasted longer. I think they've hit gold with this series, and hopefully we'll have many seasons of this. Alan Tudyk absolutely NAILS IT in his role as the "Resident Alien", but that's only part of the charm. The rest of the cast keeps getting better, and the show is doing well at building the character development.
Not sure I've ever given any show or movie a 10 - but this one is getting close. I'll say 9.5 and looking forward to the next episode.

She's back... and now on a hit TV series!

Warning: Spoilers
As others have said already, so it's probably not a spoiler anymore, Linda Hamilton (aka the badass Sarah Connor from the Terminator franchise) has landed for another sci-fi adventure! Her acting isn't any less remarkable in here, just like all the other amazing actors/actresses in super funny show! I didn't expect to see her, so hopefully people are reading this after watching the episode. The surprise introduction of new cast members are usually some of my favorite parts of any really good new TV series, and Linda is no exception.
Great beginning. More story is told to keep you on the edge.
It's just done so well. I hope the writers stay and go for season 2, while also hoping SyFy has a brain and renews this incredible series!
The recently introduced wife of Harry the alien doctor is delightful and her introduction makes you really start to wonder where all this is going! Will any one person find out? Will the government find out? If anyone does find out his origin, and I haven't read any of the comics, it should be a wild ride!
I have a gut feeling this show will do wonders for any viewers that stumbled upon it. I'm so glad my dad introduced me to this show.
Keep it up writers!! Kudos!! You too, Trudyk.

Strangely different tone
xbatgirl-300298 November 2021
I guess I'm in the minority, since I found this episode to be a lot less funny and the tone almost like a different show. One reviewer suggested maybe this was Covid and I think I did see they had to halt production after only a few shows and then start again later. So maybe that's it. There's different people involved. But humor is subjective so everyone will have a different take. I think almost the only times I really laughed were due to Alan Tudyk's performance and once for the comical faces Linda Hamilton was doing at the end. And the police duo were doing their best with what they were given. I really love the deputy. Looking forward to what happens next. But I also hope they decide on what type of show they're making soon.
They've knocked it out the park again!

This show can do no wrong, another excellent episode of Resident Alien. Linda Hamilton in this as an alien hunter is the best idea ever whoever thought of that needs a raise. Fantastic ending too cannot wait to see how all that plays out next week.
Funniest episode yet

A mix of cringe and cliche
johnnyzmayhem14 December 2023
Generally this show lets us see Harry's awkwardness in a genial, humorous way, without delving into outright cringe. Some people like cringe humor, and that's fine, but I don't. In fact, I find cringe humor to not even be funny, so when this episode veered into it - for example, when Harry was trying to one-up Ethan - I groaned. Being socially awkward without being hard-core cringey is a difficult trick to pull off, and until this episode, Resident Alien managed it. But, this episode felt like it was missing a step.
But, there's also the cliche elements. I loved the fish out of water story of the alien trying to fit in with the small-town locals, all while trying to dodge around a murder case, and a little kid who knows who and what you are. But, whenever you have a space alien, I suppose they have to get chased by the FBI/CIA/Men in Black (doesn't matter what branch they're from, it's all the same.) Up to now, the hard turn into cliche-land wasn't so bad, as it was very limited. And I'll admit, parts of it were funny, like in this episode, when Lieutenant Logan first meets his new partner. But, it all starts getting dull very fast. I'm hoping the next episode will give us a surprise on that score, but I'm not hopeful.

Sexy Beast opens with a flashback. We see an unnamed man and little girl at home during a stormy night, As the storm gets worse, we find out that the man is a lighthouse keeper and that the light is out and the clocks have mysteriously stopped. As they look outside, the man and girl see a large UFO overhead and the the girl takes a Polaroid picture.
Back in the present, many things are happening. Sheriff Dave and his deputy Liz are trying to track down who stole the missing prescription pad while they investigate the murder of the former town doctor. The Sheriff has a funny scene while he interviews a high school student, but it's Deputy Liz who makes any real meaningful progress here. Later at the station, Liz proves to be quite useful and proficient at police work and her efforts are finally beginning to get the recognition she deserves. Go Liz!
Later, Dave and Liz find out that Asta's daugher Jay is not on their list of potential suspects, but Asta tries to deflect blame and later pins the blame on her former ex, Jimmy who she runs into during a girls night out at the bowling alley. Whoever stole the pad, lets just hope they get this tidbit figured out so the plot can move on past this minor point.
In a very touching and delightful turn of events, Harry's wife returns to town and she and Harry seem to connect well at first. Like others, this reviewer is unfamiliar with the actress, but she does a great job, especially as she puts up with the many changes to her estranged husband in some hilarious ways. Harry, of course does his best, but ultimately she is seen as a distraction keeping him from completing his mission and later he comes up with a rather rotten way to keep her on the sidelines as he continues to hunt for his missing spacecraft pieces. Like other reviewers, Elvy is a breath of fresh air in this stifling mountain hideaway.
Another turn of events see's Harry replaced as town doctor as Dr. Ethan Stone arrives. Immediately well liked by almost all, Harry regards him with jealousy and resentment, though D'Arcy can always be counted upon to make anyone feel welcome. At the very least, the town is now safe from Harry's rather unorthodox medical practice. An attempt at comedy at the 59 bar felt rather flat and mostly awkward. The infallible new characters shtick has been done many times before by better series than this.
Joining the cast this time around is also the excellent Linda Hamilton who is the person in charge of the alien investigation, who later has a deeper connection revealed to her.chosen vocation. Her charges, Lisa and David finally make a huge discovery in their search for the crashed alien ship though what Lisa thinks of David is pretty clear. This spells trouble for Harry who is now very much in danger of being exposed as an alien as the government closes in around him. It will be interesting to watch and see how Harry manages to navigate this new problem in his life.
Pretty good episode, though historically, shows that bring in famous characters usually do so in order to prop them up and encourage viewers to make up for less than stellar ratings. RA continues to be funny enough to make this reviewer want to see more, yet continues to struggle in other areas that take away from some of the fun. Extra point for song choice and the hilarious Elvy. 8/10.

What happened to the show? 🙁
logins-814-4579411 March 2021
The tone, writing, and cinematography all seemed to change with this episode. It's as if the writing and production teams changed. And then inclusion of several new characters...just because.
Was this a victim of Covid? It seems production was halted while filming and this seems to be the unfortunate breakpoint. The show became more about cheap laughs and even more cringeworthy awkwardness. Sad to see the show change so drastically.

Better humor, bad photo-shop
avnrulz5 March 2021
Well, some of the humor was better, but the poor photo-shop with the new doctor ruined it. Bit of a stretch the woman he (or the human he killed and is impersonating) is married to would not take issue with how different he is the hardest theme to accept.
Sexy Beast
Prismark1012 March 2021
When the episode starts with a flashback 50 years ago. I realised that this means 1971.
That makes me feel old. A little girl takes a polaroid photo of an alien ship.
No surprise that the little girl becomes Linda Hamilton. She plays General Eleanor Wright who has for years looked for evidence of an alien ship.
She has instigated a covert mission to find the ship and alien. Harry would not have learnt on Law & Order that aliens can be spotted. Maybe he should had watched the X Files or The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Harry's job as the town doctor comes to an end. The replacement is found and he is a bit of a dish and maybe just a little too perfect. It is a little like Beauty and the Beast.
This is not the strongest episode. Harry just comes of as childish and looks like someone who has given his cover away. I'm not sure if the new doctor was needed at this point.
