Jeremy decides to become a naturalist by doing something about Britain's depleted insect population; in order to make his farm more bug-friendly, he attempts to dig a pond, dam a stream, thin out his woods, and install some bees.

Jeremy Clarkson decides to become a naturalist. Jeremy is dismayed that insect population has fallen by 25% in the UK. He thinks farming has contributed to loss of 140K miles of hedgerows, 40% of ancient woodlands, 97% of wildflower meadows.

Jeremy decides to make parts of his farm more insect friendly. Process calling wilding. But before he can do that, he has to get Govt inspectors to inspect his farmland and figure out if his plans harm any of the animals already living there. They red flag a lot of areas where the pond was supposed to be. The inspector thinks a water vole is living in that location, which is a highly protected species. Jeremy plans to use motion cameras to confirm whether it is a water vole. He cant do any construction there, if it is. It turns out to be a mouse.

Jeremy is in business and brings in a JCB. The site is at the bottom of a deep ravine and Jeremy gets in. As he digs a hole for his pond, he gets 10 feet deep and water from the ground starts seeping into the pond. Jeremy has to pump the water out before he can carry on. So Jeremy decides to build a dam and another pond. Lisa is pissed at the mess he has created, and all the top soil he has dug out. He makes a makeshift dam that somewhat leaks, but it stops the stream water and Jeremy diverts it to fill his 2nd pond. At the end of the day, Jeremy cant get out himself as the ground is too slippery with the mud. He calls Kaleb for help. Even the Lamborghini cant rescue Jeremy and Kaleb also gets stuck. The next morning Kaleb assembles a relay of 3 tractors to pull Jeremy and the Lambo tractor out of the pits.

Charlie arrives and is upset at all the tire marks all over the farm. Jeremy has compacted the soil, which will stop the water from running off and is in violation of the rules. Jeremy's damage could result in loss of 5% of Govt subsidy (which amounts to 10-15K pounds) he gets for his non-farm land. Jeremy gets Kaleb with a smaller JCB to tidy everything up.

Next Jeremy hires a tree cutting machine to clear up some of his woods. He gets 200 tonnes of timber, but is trolled on social media for it. But in the woods, more sunlight can reach the floor and that stimulates growth. Jeremy also wants to help the owl living in an abandoned barn on one plot of his farm. He wants to attracted more owls and installs more owl boxes all over his property. Kaleb and Jeremy can agree on how to install the tall poles on which to put the owl boxes. Jeremy listens to Kaleb, but the pole topples over and destroys the fence on the farm. Eventually they get it right, but forget to put the owl box on the top of the pole.

Meanwhile the dam broke and Lisa and Jeremy have to get in to repair it. Jeremy also buys a quarter of a million bees to open a honey making bee farm and also to pollinate his crops. If a man bee stings you its sting comes off and if it has sex, its penis comes off. Bees live for 1 month in summer and 6 months in the winter. Queen lives for 3-4 yrs. She lays 2000 eggs per day and night. The dam breaks again. He repairs it. He then hires a chap who puts up telephone poles for British telecom to erect his owl poles. Jeremy teams with Ellen to give ultrasounds to the sheep to find out how many lambs each is having. one empty, 15 singles, 1 triplet and the rest are twins. The cultivating for spring plantation continued.

As spring approaches, Jeremy sacrifices some of his winter crops to create a super highway in the middle of his crop fields, to allow the insects coming back into the field, to move around a lot of it a lot faster. Eventually Jeremy's large 1st pond is also fully dug and he fill it with water from a stream. Jeremy introduces trout fish into the pond. The dam is finally holding after 3 weeks. But soon, it starts leaking again !! But the wilding project is a success as insects start thriving in the various areas that Jeremy worked on. Charlie is happy with the changes.. The winter wheat, barley and rape is looking good. and the spring cultivating is done.
