Very refreshing

The art is so refreshing, seeing the characters displayed this way. The sound is very good indeed, the development of the characters is also consistent with everything. The way it deals with gender equality and equality between people of different location and social status is very nice. I enjoyed the whole race.

Didn't live up to its potential

This anime's excellent first half came to a screeching halt later, thanks to a generic Nietzschean villain and a total absence of thematic resonance. People have compared this to Dr. Stone, but Dr. Stone was always about science, even when there were baddies to fight and people to rescue; this anime drops science, creativity, and exploration in favor of... friendship? Punching?

There are also some fundamental quality issues that I started to notice in the second half, maybe because the story became less engrossing; villains appear out of nowhere from the middle of the desert, a time bomb randomly fails to go off, and a key character backstory winds up totally unexplained and unresolved. (That same character gets the same, exact flashback scene six or seven times, which really bogs things down.)

Still, I might recommend the first 4-6 episodes as standalone material, and I'm interested to see what the author/studio come up with next.

If the original Death Race 2000 and Doctor Stone had a baby...

A baby that loved cars, history and crazy / interesting character designs, it would be this anime. It's pure fun to watch, even if the plot is fairly predictable thus far (as of episode 7).

Such a good concept and execution

I love this anime. The concept of a cross-country race in turn-of-the-century USA is so much fun, especially for those of us whose interests include both motorsports AND anime (although I recognize this is a niche). The show is mostly light and punchy, and the visuals are spectacular. At first the design of the cars kinda bothered me but they grew on me, especially Appare's boat car. The characters are also pretty well-defined, and each is given a satisfying arc. It isn't afraid to be violent or serious, while most of it is PG-13 in terms of themes and dialogue, making an interesting combination.

Unique Premise and Characters.

A bizarre story with a wide array of different characters. The main character is hard to like; appears to be some sort of autistic clown, but the supporting cast makes up for it.

I don't normally write reviews but we need season 2 now!!! This show is very entertaining, characters are perfect, comedies are clean, funny, graphics are very excellent. I'm very picky on my animes but this one is definitely on my book!

People must understand that every anime is not a action anime its a anime about cars and science and i m loving it.
