One of the better NZ movies

Just saw "The legend of baron to'a last night and it was a big surprise as another New Zealand movie.

It has a lot of great action and great camera work throughout, I have to say that Uli Latukefu really made the movie what it is with his great acting and most of the fight scenes he has.

I would recommend this movie to anyone that wants to eat some popcorn and laugh for about 2 hours

Ok film. Lacks the classic kiwi humor I thought it might have

I'm not sure why this is labeled a comedy, it has a couple of witty lines but is otherwise a drama in my opinion. The storyline is a bit melodramatic, but overall I enjoyed.

A beautiful, beautiful, beautiful movie

The Legend of Baron To'a is a love letter to wrestling, the relationship fathers and their children, legacy, community and most importantly Tongan culture. I loved the fact that the cast was very diverse, with the only white guy there playing a drop in and out role. This movie is sincere, and funny. And the action is wonderful. Definitely one of the best movies of 2020. If there is any justice in the world, the cast and crew deserves Oscars. But unlikely given the continuing lack of transformation.

Potential, but very slow

We watched it for a while and it seemed like it had potential, but half an hour in an nothing had really happened. The trailer made it look like a fast moving action comedy but it was more like a wannabe Tongan Quentin Tarantino movie, with dialogue that tried to be slick but needed another couple of passes through the editing room. Wow, the dude was cut though! Some shirtless scenes for the ladies.
