Pantheon might just be the best sci-fi show to date. It is deep, intelligent, intriguing, plausible, relevant and yet at the same time human, touching and sometimes even emotional. It is a show equally driven by lofty ideas, tight, clever plot and interesting three dimensional characters.
It's also very concise, which is a positive for me, but may not be for everyone. It requires focus - shift your attention away for just a few minutes and you'll miss something important.
The show is not driven by action. There is some of it - and it is quite decent and imaginative - but it's short and simple. What's also simple is the art style but in this case I think it's a good thing - it keeps the attention on what's important. Perhaps the visuals could be a little more detailed but that's it.
On top of all that, the authors managed to wrap it all up in a very satisfying ending that will leave you contemplating it for at least a couple of days. Provided you will not be preoccupied missing all those interesting, likable characters you've just met.
This review was written just days after finishing the second season for the first time. Will definitely rewatch the whole thing again.
