At home, a young MODOK is crying and tells his mother that the kids at school broke his invention, and called him Big Head. MODOK's mother tells him that his head is beautiful, and one day MODOK will change the world.
The Present
MODOK has his AIM soldiers attack the NYC stock exchange and the SHIELD helicarrier to defending it. MODOK tells a SHIELD soldier that destroying the stock will let him bring on a new technological utopia. Iron Man arrives and attacks MODOK, watching 'The Great British Bake Off" in his helmet while they fight. He finally kicks MODOK, kicking his boot off in the process and wedging it in MODOK's chair.
At AIM HQ, MODOK shows his minions that they have Iron Man's boot and proclaims victory. Monica Rappaccini comes in and complains that Iron Man knew they were coming because MODOK Twittered his plans. MODOK ignores her and goes back to partying with his minions,
Later, MODOK goes home and takes the garbage cans out because no one else in his family did it. He goes inside to the kitchen and tells his wife Jodie that he got Iron Man's boot. She says that her book made it onto the self-publishing self-help charts, and is getting approached by major companies about sponsorship deals. The shapeshifting Supes-Adaptoid is working as the smoothie machine, and MODOK hits it to get it working. Jodie tells MODOK that he needs to talk to his son Lou about getting a bar mitzvah suit. Their daughter Melissa comes in and says that she hates her life, and got detention for telling everyone at school about her rival's blood disorder. MODOK tells his children to listen to Jodie's news, she's going to sleep on the couch so he can share his marital bed with the boot. Jodie is not thrilled.
The next day at the HQ, MODOK gets a report on how much he spent on the attack from his minion the CPA Supreme, and wonders if he's a good businessman. Monica storms in with a mutated dog and tells MODOK that they need to talk about the organization's leadership. She tells MODOK that it's time that he step down and let her run AIM. The CPA Supreme reports that they're almost out of cash, and a furious MODOK blasts the arm off another minion.
MODOK tells his minions that he plans to rob Fort Knox to get the cash needs. The lights go out because they couldn't pay the power bill, and MODOK says that first they'll make the power company pay, for trying to make them pay. Monica angrily says that AIM is finished because MODOK bankrupted it, and MODOK tells his minions that he'll fix it. They're not convinced. Austin Van Der Sleet of the tech company GRUMBL arrives, and knows that MODOK needs money because of his Internet searches. GRUMBL wants to buy a controlling interest in AIM, but MODOK refuses. An Aim minion wonders where they're going to work if they don't take the money.
That night everyone gathers at MODOK's house, and MODOK says that they need big plans to save AIM. Lou complains that he still doesn't have a bar mitzvah suit, and Jessica complains that one of the minions spilled acid on her boyfriend. Jodie talks to her husband privately. She suggests that it's time for MODOK to let AIM go, and says that she's making enough to support them. MODOK doesn't even know he is without AIM, and Jessie figures they need to have a serious conversation about their relationship.
The doorbell rings, and MODOK answers it. It's Austin, and MODOK agrees to go with him to be wined and dined but insists that he's not selling AIM. Austin talks and tells MODOK that GRUNBL is hands-off and will let MODOK kill all the Iron Man's he wants as long as MODOK produces a new tablet for them by Christmas. They stop by GRUMBL so Austin can take of something, and he tells MODOK to make himself at home in Austin's office while he's gone. He finds a MODOK toy in one of Austin's drawers, and Austin comes back in and admits that he's a huge fan and explains that it's the only thing he salvaged from his childhood home after the fire.
MODOK tells Austin that Austin passed his mental tests, and he'll let GUMBL invest in AIM. Later, MODOK goes to his HQ and discovers that GRUMBL has given the minions a lounge and turned MODOK's torture chamber into a daycare. MODOK goes to his workshop and finds the one-armed minion, Gary, there. When MODOK wonder why no one is working on his cerebral cortex manipulator, Gary explains that GRUMBL reassigned the rest of the team to their Fitbits for Pets program and he's the only one left.
MODOK looks for Austin and discovers that he's redesigned his mural. Monica freely admits that she's one who complains that it was inappropriate, and MODOK tells Austin that he wants everything back to the way it was. Austin points out that MODOK gave away control and it was all in the contract. He asks MODOK then they can expect the tablet, and later tells the CPA Supreme that he wants to chemically castrate Austin, and the Supreme recommends a suspension. The Supreme uses a neural inhibitor, and points out that due to his contract, MODOK can no longer blast employees. MODOK hands over his security access card
As MODOK leaves, he finds his minions outside complaining that GRUMBL laid them all off. One minion notes that GRUMBL doesn't control AIM yet, and the company exes have to review the contracts before they arrive for Austin to officially sign. MODOK figures that they can change Austin's mind for him, so they'll heist Austin's mind.
Later at MODOK's house, MODOK warns his minions that the mind-heist is dangerous and most of them won't be coming back. He'll give their families butterball turkeys, and explains how Lou will slip into the daycare, hide, and let MODOK and his minions in. Then MODOK will modify the manipulator, shrink down to microscopic size, enter Austin's brain, and plant the manipulator. SA will change into a ladder so MODOK can get hi shrinking pills on a high shelf.
As the team go in to get the pills, Monica finds them and complains that they're trespassing. The experiment eats the pills, and most them are mutables, which turn the experiment into a ferocious giant. the inhibitor is still on MODOK, so he grabs Gary's arm, attaches a bomb to it, and throws it into the experiment's mouth. The bomb explodes, killing the experiment, and MODOK and his team walk out past the blood-covered Monica.
Outside of Austin's office, MODOK takes the last shrinking pill and minion puts him into a dart, and then shoots it into Austin. The minion hits Jodie by mistake, who is there to talk to Austin. MODOK plants the manipulator and then realizes who he's in, and Jodie is there to become a brand ambassador at GRUMBL's invitation. Austin assures Jodie that she's there because they're interested in her, not because she's MODOK's wife.
A male secretary brings in the final contracts, and MODOK finally finds one of Jodie's memories where she told him that his plans are worth fighting for, and their marriage is a two-way street. MODOK takes that as permission to take control of her body, does so, and has Jodie knock the pen out of Austin's hand and then kill him with a mounted polo stick. Austin tries to sign the contracts anyway, and Jodie drives a pen and sneezes the miniaturized MODOK out. The shrinking pill wears off, and Jodie runs out, mortified.
Austin finishes signing the contract and sends it out by pneumatic tube, and says that he's going to have to take harsh disciplinary action against MODOK. He tells MODOK that if MODOK doesn't play ball, his time at GRUMBL might be limited. MODOK asks Austin to give his minions back their jobs, and do it for him because he was Austin's favorite childhood toy. Austin tells MODOK that he picked up the toy on Craigslist, and MODOK makes the tablet and offers it to Austin if he rehires the minions. Austin agrees, then tells his minions that he vanquished their foes. The minions all cheer.
Later, MODOK and Jodie have dinner at a restaurant to celebration. She points out that MODOK ruined her deal, and he says that her memories told him to do it, so she should be angry at herself. MODOK insists that Austin wasn't making a legitimate offer, and was just using Jodie to get to him. Jodie says that she signed with Roxxon as a lifestyle advisor, and had offers from tons of companies. She tells MODOK that she wants a divorce. MODOK says that he'll focus more on her, but Jodie isn't convinced and walks out.
