The film registers the comeback of actors Suresh Gopi and Shobana, who are best known for their characters in Manichithrathazhu (1993).
In April 2020, a few days after the film's premiere on Amazon Prime Video, social media in Kerala and Tamil Nadu erupted with accusations against the makers for mocking late LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran through a scene involving a dog. Abusive comments were made against the director, the producer, senior cast members, and even the family members of the crew. It was later clarified that the scene paid homage to a character by the same name in 1988 film Pattanapravesam (1988). The producer had to publicly apologize also mentioning that the scene, which involved Suresh Gopi, was supposed to be a joke.
In April 2020, a few days after the film's premiere on Amazon Prime Video, Chetna Kapoor, a journalist accused the makers of body-shaming her by using her pictures in the film without her consent. She also threatened litigation but later sent out a tweet mentioning that the issue was resolved amicably after director Anoop Sathyan called her apologized. Producer Dulquer Salmaan also sent out a tweet apologizing for the 'production error'.
