Sex & Nudity

  • The show has a very dark tone overall, with the amount of violence per episode increasing as the series progresses.

Violence & Gore

  • In flashback, a woman hangs herself and her two children from a tree branch. A young man nearby sees and runs to their aide. He saves the children in time but the mother kicks him away and strangles to death. A quick but distressing scene.
  • The vampires feed on individuals, often with blood spilling.
  • A vampire is shown with a slit wrist feeding a woman their blood.
  • A vampire has a metal cross stabbed into their neck, injuring and burning them. They run away.
  • Vampires often shown with bloodied fanged mouths.
  • A trio of vampires in a shed feast on the carcass of a farm animal. Some blood shown.
  • A woman who has been turned into a vampire is shown to the townsfolk to prove their existence. She begs for life as the sun disintegrates her and the town watches. Somewhat graphic and intense.
  • A woman kills herself with poison.
  • A number of vampires are killed with stabs to the heart in a fight.
  • A man is stabbed repeatedly in the neck and then fed upon by a vampire.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Once the reveal is made that vampires are the main antagonists, there are plenty of creepy and unsettling images of them.
  • A man arrives home to find his child gray and dead in the driveway. He cradles her corpse and cries dramatically.
  • The vampires have a very classic depiction, pale, fanged, and sunken looking.
  • A man's wife, whom he thought to have smothered to death returns to life before his eyes.
  • A little girl, known to be dead by her whole family, knocks on their door and begs for them to open it.
  • The older vampires are depicted as even more skeletal and monstrous than the younger ones who just appear more pale and exhausted.
