Star Wars IX - The Rise of Skywalker

What a garbage dump the new Star Wars Trilogy is. I can't even....the acting, the screenwriting, direction, the casting is just not even in the same universe as the original trilogy. It saddens me that this once epic story has been butchered with the new iteration of films. The characters are completely lackluster. I can hardly remember their names. The writing and dialogue is a sight to behold for its lack of realism and corniness. The casting is just bewildering. And why in the world would you cast a mega-hit star like Dominic Monaghan for a 2-bit, 5-minute part in Star Wars? It is so distracting and you can't help but think why there's a hobbit in Star Wars....and why said hobbit has a phony American accent and why a hobbit of considerable fortitude and valour would lower himself to do what amounts to an "extras" role. Lol. The answer is he probably just wanted the opportunity to appear in the film. That's great...but shows a lack of care for the flow and authenticity of the saga with such a shocking choice. Just one of many problems that detract from the authenticity of the new trilogy. The extreme drama and close-ups in this latest film are constant and intense without the underlying psychological momentum or emotional scaffolding, or plot progression to move the characters (nevermind the audience) to meet the level of veracity of emotion for which they portray in seemingly every scene. This is what I describe as over-acting melodrama. The original series had authentic characters who were witty, scrappy and relatable. They portrayed realistic individuals and relationships. They were smart and scrappy and the audience truly felt swept up in the story--a far cry from the wandering, non-sensical, hammy production it's now become. By the end of episode IX, I was seriously rooting for the Empire to wipe them all out and rid us of this awful abomination to the original series once and for all.
