A Decent Thriller Flick
A great spy triller attempt from Ahishor Solomon... completely loved the way he handled those motion captures through out the film avoiding all the commercial phrases And a great choice of characterisation by Nagarjuna.. that never compromising attitude which he carries till the end of the film is impeccable That intensifying background score by Thaman added more spice to the film Narration was so quick in 1st half that within few minutes after opening we get into the main plot which leads to the context leaving no space for emotions and basic thriller twists And abruptly screenplay falls dead slow at pre-interval block 2nd half was well executed in comparison to 1st half .. The main context of the film is set here Yet the narration was completely flat with poor screenplay but well managed to escape with that screen time And the attempt to give a twist in the climax was not that high Overall, One-time watchable Could be a nice experience if you're expectations are low.

Engaging Manhunt! 6/10
vasudevaa23 April 2021
Check out my other reviews! I give reviews for all new Telugu movies!!!

Special Note to the cinematography. Cinematographer Shaneil Deo has done quite a great a job for its budget. It shows his experience that he has also done a lot of other successful thriller movies such as Adivi Sesh's Goodachari. The scenes where Nagarjuna is enquiring people and talking, is matched to a Hollywood level thriller. One can say Shaneil Deo has took the film to the next level.

Wild Dog is a manhunt story of catching a criminal through inquiries and action. It is very routine for a investigative story and it might remind you of Akshay Kumar's Baby. Unlike Baby, Wild dog does not have have too many tension building scenes that will thrill you. Although it is plain, the screenplay is very clean cut. This movie would not be possible without Nagarjuna. The director must thank him for giving him the opportunity to direct a non-mass movie with a star like Nagarjuna.

In Depth Analysis:

First 30 minutes: This part is an ok start to the movie. It shows Nagarjuna as a former CIA agent nicknamed Wild Dog. We feel as if this part is too plain. There is no constant curiosity established killing us to see the whole movie. One thing I observed from the movie is that the director tries to establish almost everything with just dialogues. This is very weird since movies are all about SHOWING not TELLING. By only telling, the we don't completely get the feeling of the full intensity established. Luckily for the movie, the rest of it is about to be 10 times better.

Rest of the movie: The rest of the movie is pretty good. It starts out with Nagarjuna doing inquires on finding out who the villian is. The inquires initially start out slow but pick up the pace rapidly making us very involved. Starting from when "Mission Wild Dog" starts, the movie takes a step above. We get the feeling of a thriller that we wanted the whole time. The thing that was lacking at first will finally come. Even though it is very good audience that watches a lot of movies won't find anything new.

Overall the movie is a routine investigative thriller that is lacking at first but as the story progresses and as the movie picks up pace it will thrill you for sure!

Check out my other reviews! I give reviews for all new Telugu movies!!!

Scale to Compare:

9.0/10 Mahanati, 8.0/10 Kshanam, 7.0/10 Goodachari, 6.0/10 Wild Dog, 5.0/10 Saaho, 4.0/10 Agnyathavasi.

Just an above average movie 🎥
yuvangkrishna23 April 2021
Performance and some scenes are the only positives in this film. The film is less engaging because of its story. Without any story the film extends the movie and that to at the end almost like half an hour is wasted for showing how the team is crossing the border and that part is very less engaging as it is very much predictable. As an action thriller with this kind of story must deal with a lot of action scenes, but they did not show much action scenes. While watching this movie personally I never came into a seat edge experience like 'Uri : the surgical strike' or 'Raid Redemption'. The film could have been better be more interesting plot and with more action scenes. That's it for this film. One time watchable, can try if your bored. Available on Netflix.

Nice rivetting action film
sanjubhat25 April 2021
#sanjuzzreviews

Based on actual incidents, this film tells the story of our unsung heroes who, keep their anonymity under wraps, while still defending our country selflessly.

Wild Dog is about how our NIA bravehearts carried out a daring covert operation to nab Yasin Bhatkal from Nepal.

It starts off with the German Bakery blasts in Pune ( all names changed in the film) and how a team of NIA agents lead by Nagarjuna try to locate the perpetrators of this heinous terrorist activity.

After a couple of near misses where the target manages to give them a slip, they finally land up in Nepal based on a tipoff. How they manage to nab him and get him back to India forms the crux of the plot.

This is Nagarjuna's film all the way. At his age Nagarjuna looks extremely fit to play the part of the protagonist & carries the entire weight of the film on his shoulders. Saiyami Kher & Atul Kulkarni play their part decently.

Slick editing, engaging storyline and rivetting action scenes make it a decent watch.

Similar to Akshay Kumar's Baby, but a little low on the tense adrenaline rush moment's that kept us on the edge of our seats.

Adios🙂

This movie is a one time watchable flick. Plot is similar to some movies we already watched. So this not that impressive. If you have lot of free time, you can worth a watch.

Disappointing and not impactful
yashwanthk-2813223 April 2021
Again the overused story in cinema has been used again..ok-ish screenplay..some scenes were overperfomed and clichéd..nagarjuna has done good....same dialogues in almost every movie can be heard here..some scenes were illogical too.

Pls skip it..you have already heard this story.

If you like this GENRE you'll LOVE it too.
MandalBros-522 April 2021
Wild Dog is not new in terms of story, you may have seen this story in many films like Baby, Phantom, also in Family Man. This film also falls under the same genre.

No over the top scenes are there, it fully focused on it's story. Screenplay is very fast and engaging specially in the 2nd half. That's why you'll not get bored while watching.

Some scenes shines very well specially one FOLLOWING scene is there, that is executed exceptionally.

Ashishor Solomon in his debut feature has done a brilliant job. The lead character is not shown in a heroic way. They've tried to show us everything in a very real way. We all know it's a patriotic film but patriotism is not shown by pointing out our eyes, that's another positive thing of this film. It's a very well researched film, so I think you should watch Wild Dog for it's DETAILING.

Available on Netflix.

Decent
Abdulxoxo23 August 2022
Wild dog is a tense action thriller that doesn't relent as soon as the action starts. The set-up isn't something we haven't seen before, but the film is well paced, and Nagarjuna Akkineni is more than capable in the lead role. There's no cliche romance, no singing and dancing, it is about soldiers who feel obligated to do the right thing no matter the cost. A solid film about good guys vs bad guys and soldiers' unrelenting love and devotion for their country.

Terrible from the word go!!!
amanrajabali23 April 2021
Looking at the star cast, I was hopeful for some entertainment but alas... this one turned out to be a major disappointment.

I could barely pull through this one for 40 mins. Phew!!!

Nagarjuna's and Atul Kulkarni's talents are wasted.

And so is my time...Alas!

Decent Thriller and comeback from Nagarjuna!!
chiranjivmalla2 April 2021
Despite the 2 hr duration, the film is bit slow but it has definitely a good content. No nonsense and no deviations in the plot. Some similarities with Uri & Baby films. Climax is very engaging and amazing action sequences. Overall a decent comeback from Nag after Devadas. We are not good with numbers. Given the low budget involved and apart from Nag, the rest all cast is almost new, so remuneration costs will also be less, and having the pre Netfix deal in hand, we think Wild Dog would end up as a profitable venture.

Spectacular but predictable
geethu_suresh23 April 2021
The movie is based on a realistic story which gives a really nice touch. The story line and the narration is lost in the mundane routine. The dialogues and the scenes are rather predictable. On a good note, the acting was commendable. For a non-commercial movie and the attempt that is taken is good. The end did have a good feel towards it. A decent movie.

Bad
mayurpanchamia9423 April 2021
Wild Dog is anything but wild nor a dog which grabs attention fod it's cuteness and deserves respect for it's loyalty.

Those who have watched this movie will agree that this movie has absolutely absolutely nothing to offer, not in terms of story, logic, acting, SONGS, BGM, even the dialogues are the exact copy of every other movie you see.

Annapurna productions have to up their game, a movie by Arjun Kapoor called India's Most Wanted was based on the same story and even that was better than this one.

It's sleezy, lazily made with a one liner and is a no brainer.

First they wanted to release it on Netflix, they producers deferred then they released in cinemas on April, in 22 days they released back on Netflix that's Wild Dog for you.

Even in the remotest part of the world, people start speaking Telugu (full respect to language) but that's seems so unnatural, imagine a MP from Nepal speaking Telugu 🤣.

Just a time waste, better watch any other movie or series with 'Wild' name in it than this one.. For starters try "Wild West Country" with hara bhara kabab or Paneer Manchurian or Threaded Paneer or simple Pakodas fryed to crispy golden brown, gulp it down with Pepsi or Aam panna or lemonade.

SLOPPY, SHODDY AND ENTIRELY MISCASTED. NAGARAJUNA DISAPPOINTS THE MOST. WASTE OF TIME.
sudhareddy-srk25 April 2021
Very poorly executed movie. Director seems to have researched well, but has failed hugely. Editing has gone haywire. Screenplay is fine, but everything else is wrong. Looks dull, sleepy and Nagarjuna and the whole cast except Sayemi Kher look just out of bed. Nothing is right about their acting, body language, postures or the way they have handled the weapons. Cinematography and music are just ok. Looks the ratings have been manipulated HERE. Nagarjuna disappoints the most. He looks tired, old and sluggish just like his appearances on the promotions for this movie. Three stars only for the right content.

Right from the opening bomb blast shot the entire movie carries the intense thrill. Enjoyed the forest shooting scenes couldn't take eyes off from Nagarjuna. Enjoyed the director screenplay in showing how NIA hunt and keeping it everything natural the writers of the movie has shown the real incidents happened. A big round of applause to the Writers, Director, Actors and Producers for making a brilliant movie !!! A must watch movie 🎥 the bgm is great too.

An action thriller India can be really proud of.
Achyut_Prashast_Singh22 April 2021
When I first heard of Wild Dog, I was excited to see Telugu cinema attempt another action thriller of this kind, but was worried it might take the route similar to other Indian action thrillers which somehow limited their appeal to domestic audiences only by adding songs, comedy and romance tracks. This is one front where Wild Dog vastly improves on. No comedy, no romance, no unnecessary melodrama or songs (no, not even at the very end), but only pure action and suspense. While the story and presentation might not be very groundbreaking especially if you've seen a lot of similar undercover operation stories, the execution is arresting and makes Wild Dog a racy watch.

It's great to see Nagarjuna in a different kind of action role, one that involves both brain and brawn, but with zero shades of his "mass" hero charisma as we have previously seen. He is totally apt for this character and there is not a single moment where he seems inconsistent. Saiyami Kher is stunning, and her character is pretty well written. Atul Kulkarni is impressive as usual. The actors who play the team members are also effectively used, and the actor playing the villain does a similarly fantastic job.

Wild Dog's biggest plus point has to be its taut narrative. Almost no scene can be edited out without affecting the story, which is quite surprising given how most Telugu action movies have something you can always easily discard without harming the plot. The action sequences are very good, grounded and fairly realistic. The final one, especially, relies on the background of the situation and arising tension due to which it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's also good to see the CGI work deftly handled; a lot of similar Indian action thrillers I've seen in the past have left me disappointed with their unfinished CGI work but this film manages to get that aspect right as well.

Thaman might not have been given a scope to provide us with songs, but his background score is stupendous and remains with you even as the credits roll. While having seen a lot of similar Indian (not Telugu alone) films, such as Action (2019, Tamil), Chanakya (2019, Telugu) and even web-series such as Bard of Blood (also 2019) creates an occasional sense of déjà vu, the fact that Wild Dog is inspired by a true story, is devoid of "masala" and is just focused entirely on the story means I am ready to overlook any flaws it has. It's finally the action thriller even international audiences can enjoy without worrying about unnecessarily popping out songs and dances, and something whole of India can be proud of. Yes, the sense of familiarity can be a flaw off-putting for those who've seen a lot of this genre, but to even see Indian filmmakers trying to create something like this without packaging too many things at the same time, is both impressive, relieving and worth encouragement from us viewers. Go, stream it on Netflix!
