The Nazis are now occupying Denmark, and their fingerprints are all over everything. One must have a special permit to drive. Things are off kilter all over the place. The menace seems to be too easily accepted. We have the arrival of Bertha Frigh, the sister of Leslie. Her mother continues ruling the roost, including firing a good friend of Bertha's at the tobacco factory. A man whom she met on the train flatters her and she is now interested. Weyse has learned nothing. He is still the petulant child that he has always been. Helene puts up with a lot because of the children. Madsen and Molin continue to play with fire when it comes to the Germans. Madsen thinks he has more power than her probably has. Amanda is now running the hotel. Otelia and Edith continue to have issues although Otelia keeps the upper hand.
