Robert Morris: Retrospective (1994) Poster

Rosalind Krauss: Self

Quotes

  • Rosalind E. Krauss : Your work has, from the beginning, kind of insisted on the fact that it exists as a multiple, potentially as a multiple, and that you make a big object like this- say you have no place to store it, or you dismantle it, you take plywood from the Passageway, you remake it into another work. There's a sort of sense in which the finished quality of the original was something you attacked from the very beginning, and so the fact is, these are reconstructions that you made for the show, but nonetheless, you made them in 1992, not 1962.

  • Rosalind E. Krauss : on Hand and Toe Hold: The more I look at this piece, the more I'm just amazed by the relationship between order and disorder. It seems to be both stable and kind of spreading by certain kinds tension, and therefore gives a sense that it could spread anywhere. It's a kind of combination of form and anti-form.

  • Rosalind E. Krauss : on Portals: Your body and space are in a kind of set of counter forces in relation to each other, and counter pressures. So that while it's articulating your passing through it, you're leaving a trace of it. And I love this idea of sort of seeing your trace through your peripheral vision.
