Spike Jonze directed the entire opening sequence of Jackass Forever. It was originally supposed to be a simple bit where Chris Pontius would perform with a penis-puppet in a miniature set, but because the group had enlisted some of the best miniature artists and special effects people in the business, the sketch became so elaborate and looked so good that they chose to make it the movie's opening scene.
After his firing from Jackass Forever, Bam Margera went on his Instagram and attacked Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze for what he called "torturing" him with many conditions to keep part in the film such as random drug tests, going to rehab, and remaining sober, to which he admittedly didn't follow. He also sent death threats to Jeff Tremaine and his family, which prompted Tremaine to get a restraining order against Margera.
In a GQ interview, Johnny Knoxville said that Jackass Forever will be his final contribution to Jackass.

This isn't the first time that all cast members came back together since Dunn's death. Back in July of 2020, Steve-O released a special called Steve-O: Gnarly (2020) that had Knoxville, Bam, Wee-Man, Pontius, Preston, Dave, Ehren and Novak.
