Reminds me of Psych
hotwheelskit21 October 2023
The show is a little off-beat and started off a little slow but by the end of the first episode we realize that there is a lot more here than meets the eye at first.

Everyone seems to have a past that they would rather no one else finds out about and some go to great lengths to keep it a secret. And then there is the dead wife that he is constantly talking to. At first I thought that she was giving him clues but then we realize that she is just saying what he wants her to say because she is just a figment of his imagination.

I'm only through episode 3 but I can't wait until I can watch the nex one.

Question on the music: I love the theme song. Is it available anywhere? Who is the singer?

Not bad for what it's worth
AfricanBro3 October 2022
I don't know what exactly made me watch this, I found this show by chance and all I knew about it was Luke Kirby from his supporting role in Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It's not top draw acting, feel like it's on par with comedy skits or tiktoks, it's bearable it's just unbelievable. The opening sequence in the first episodes basically scream Florida man and that's pretty much what you get as the series progresses, a lot about the show just seems unrealistic or far fetched but it doesn't feel like the writers are trying to convince you it is.

It's a Roku original so I didn't have any high expectations, maybe that's why I'm enjoying it. It's not a cop show, it's put as comedy/ romance genre but I think it's more of a mystery drama. There are scenes that are meant to be funny that aren't, but doesn't get annoying because it doesn't look like they're trying to hard. It's paced really well as the story progresses pretty swiftly, nothing feels rushed or spent too much time on.

First couple episodes are pretty plot heavy, so much happens in an episode that would usually happen across several in other series. It's almost refreshing to see so many big reveals and twists in only just the first couple episodes. Even though, there's still a lot left to unpack and the series isn't horrible so I'll keep watching. It's not the best show around but it knows what's it's trying to be and I like it for that, doesn't bite off more than it can chew.

Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this show - minus the unnecessary sex/nude scenes. Although it wasn't often, it wasn't needed.

This show reminds me of a mix between the tv show "Monk" and the movie "Clue". Seeing familiar actors on shows is always fun too. Who commuted the murder? Was it a brother, husband, dad, crooked employee? When I thought I figured it out, there's a twist.

The sarcasm, eccentric attitude and clothing of Bell was great too. The flashbacks, hallucinations and visual effects was an entertaining add to the show.

I look forward to more seasons with twists and turns in the story line.

This show is easy to binge watch in a whole weekend, it draws you in and keeps you.

A different approach
femalesworldng15 October 2022
I love the fact that this series is showing two different sides of two different characters. Great acting from both lead actors. I have fun and laugh when watching this. You just have to take your time to sit down and watch it for you to enjoy it.

Luke is doing a create job with his character. Very nice to watch. Tiana is amazing too. I can't wait to see the secret she's hiding. It's going to be a tricky one.

Luke's mom is an amazing actress. She delivers her character well. So did every other actors in this series. Like I said before, you need to take your time and relax to enjoy this series.

a little quirky
SnoopyStyle23 November 2023
Agoraphobic Bell Prescott (Luke Kirby) hasn't left his home since the murder of his wife Vida Perez Prescott (Lorenza Izzo) five years ago. He's living with his mother Millicent Prescott (Lesley Ann Warren). When he finds a body on his property, he calls 911. Speed-trap cop Cammie Lorde (Tiana Okoye) answers the call. She's the only one left standing on the police force after the town went under. It's a town full of quirky characters. Most of them hate Bell for abandoning his revitalization plan. County Sheriff Grant (Glenn Morshower) is supposed to be the one investigating local crimes. Cammie keeps investigating including Vida's murder with help from Bell and others.

It's quirky, but not actually funny. It has a murder mystery, but it's not actually dark. The characters are all likeable or fun. It's a Roku show. They don't have a long track record. I don't think it ever had a chance. Another studio may give this more rope. It's never anything groundbreaking. It's too bad but it's not a big lost.

clever and witty

It is psych meets monk.

I enjoy this show so much it is a spin on the monk/psych formula done very well. It also has a couple underlined mysteries that are present in the storyline through out the episodes that I find very interesting.

The characters are developing nicely and have great chemistry.

The Florida setting is fitting and adds a good amount of its own humor.

This show makes me smile.

Finally another show I can really enjoy. This show does not take itself to seriously which I like and while it deals with serious issues it is done so in a light and comical way. I am loving it 10/10 I hope that it has many seasons because I am addicted.

A must watch.

Sweet spot
cambell-bennett13 October 2022
This show is aiming for a very niche audience: our, 'detective with a burden' is battier than Monk, drunker than House, smarter than Sherlock, and doesn't seem to have a gun, although the charming Leslie Ann Warren playing his mother loves guns and is seen cleaning and oiling a vast collection of antique muskets and rifles which she uses to deter the advances of our tec's giant pet alligator. Our grounded sidekick with their own life is a single mom who is also the cop in charge of collecting enough speeding tickets to balance the city budget. A previous reviewer took issue with the scene where Bellwether (of course that's his name, but most folks call him Bell) smokes Toad but it's a bravura bit, and the show spent a bunch of FX money animating the horns and flies and stuff. As for the niche bit, it's written with the headiest post-peak-tv dialogue imaginable - "Do you prefer hefeweizen or muscadet with oysters?" is used as a distraction - and the metatext is the application of therapeutic practices in the damaged lives of our subjects, and how they are both going to make each other better people. Catch it now, there's no way in hell anything this far up my alley is going to be renewed.

Warning: Spoilers
If you ever watched Monk then this will be familiar. Guy's wife dies so he suddenly has all kinds of phobias. The main one is that he flops on the ground every five minutes for some reason. He has no charm, no manners and is a scrawny weed of a guy. He's spoiled and rich and egotistical. Because of that he isn't a sympathetic character and I didn't care if he lived or died. There is unnecessary swearing, presumably to get the mature rating. There is a giant hole in the plot, which the writers don't seem to have noticed. If you can't find anything else to watch or you liked Monk, then I can see no other reason to watch it.

Not your usual who done it - at all - thank goodness

SEASON 2 PLEASE!!

This show is absolutely off beat - and wonderful! And absolutely NOT PC.

Florida is a character in its own right. Imagine that! And there is a beloved alligator that roams around doing what beloved alligators do.

It's a story of love - until certain things morph and it turns to hate - in a most comical and logical way.

I started watching this because of Luke Kirby and rapidly found myself enjoying everyone involved. Kirby is his usual perfection in playing a handsome and deeply flawed man who truly only wants the best for the people in his life that he loves. And his beloved alligator.

If you want something offbeat and smart - this is your next binge.

I only watch show that have chemistry with me
kindredparadox3 October 2022
The point is finding main male character's deceased wife's killer. There are many banter or scenes between main male and main female. The male cannot really go outside his house, but go out nonetheless. The female, a traffic police, tempted to step up her job to investigate. Thus leveraged by the smartness of the male and his desire to find the killer.

This is truly a comedy detective show. Although there is no chemistry between the show and me, but that just my subjective view. I'm yet to finding a scene that trigger my focus. The show's light, yet logically constructed.

My watch history: season 1 episode 1 and episode 2.

Refreshingly not PC
atsmarosemary11 November 2022
Funny, complex interactions between two different personality types I did not feel i needed a degree in psychology to understand the natural empathy between these characters.

A pleasure to watch. I certainly hope there will be a Season 2.as the story must continue.

Love the Florida scenery, the filming makes one feel that they are there, partaking of it all.

Like I stated earlier this story must continue for those of us who invested our time and emotions and caring into it. I am tired of getting interested in a story only to have the power that be decide to end it.. What is the point of watching and liking it.

Must Watch Series, Everything for Anyone!
zpwcvndhk2 November 2022
This is the perfect combination of mystery, drama and comedy.

The consistent plot line that allows the main characters to fully embrace their backstory is refreshing. The series is a combination of my favorite shows: The Mentalist, Sherlock Holmes, and Castle.

The writers should be commended for the creativity and overall execution of the perfect balance of all aspects of the show.

The actors owned the complexity of their characters and embraced the each twist and story line with ease.

I am excited about a series that has captured my attention and has me anticipating the release of the next episode.

COUNTING FOR A SEASON 2
Godzilla_11 April 2024
I really loved this show. I love the mystery, the comedy and the chemistry between the characters. It does a perfect job at balancing comedy, thriller, drama and romance at the same time.

I definitely enjoyed this more than most comedy series out there. The comedy is very well written and doesn't even fail to give atlest a small chuckle while maintaining a good engaging story that keeps you on your toes.

It's definitely such a shame there is no season 2 yet, because this show most definitely should have more than 3 seasons by now because how good it is. Plus, with the way that the first season ended, this show definitely needs a second season.

Well, crap!

Warning: Spoilers
First episode got me. Very quirky. Well acted. Tiana Okoye was terrific! I could watch her all day. The eccentric emotionally tortured genius (a character type I usually hate), Bell Prescott, managed to do it so quirkyly that I laughed and admired his inventiveness. I looked forward to lots of fun with this show. Then, the second episode was the turd in the punch bowl. Bell smoked something that immediately knocked him into a drugged nutty land where Tah Dah his brain worked better and he figured out a puzzle. Kids, it doesn't work this way. Then the porn. We clicked off never to return. Such potential. What a waste.

Outstanding Quality Show
En_Novy14 January 2024
The story is convincing, suprising, funny, orignial, smart. The script is believable and the dialogue is funny. The authors have done a good job.

The actors are all very good and convincing. The leads have great chemistry with each other and are a terrific team. Luke Kirby was know for me but Tiana Okoye also did fantastic. One of the main characters is nature and landscape and the house crocodile must also be mentioned.

The quality of the series is fantastic when you compare it with the same old shows that is being released. I've been waiting a long time for the second season because quality has become rare. I hope we will get it.
