A dark and almost suicidal production.
TomReed12 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
A lot has been said about Packard's dark view of the film industry, and how he wrecked himself financially by giving away free copies of his earlier films. Despite his personal eccentricity, he has a point to make about film culture. By making it explicit in this film, he sheds light on his earlier productions like "The Untitled Star Wars Mockumentary" and "Reflections of Evil."

The big SPOILER is Packard's belief, stated overtly in this film, that the world was scheduled to end in 1985. He says mankind's ideas were supposed to run out at that point, and by continuing to exist, our creative efforts are just bad copies of mankind's last intended works. I don't think Packard means this ironically or comically. All his "mashups" of old video seem to worship the sex, violence and exuberance of 70's movies. I think he believes he would have thrived in that environment, and also believes that contemporary movies and cultural products are worthless.

Having said that, aside from just trying to make a buck, why would anyone with Packard's philosophy continue to make movies at all? Once you get through the silliness and oblique references (Packard seems to think we know as much about cultural history as he does, a severe miscalculation) "SpaceDisco One" leaves you feeling pity for Packard. He seems lost in the past and can't find any satisfaction in the present or future.

Completely unwatchable. A monkey with a GoPro could create something more engaging.

Sequel? I don't think so...
tousign17 November 2018
Here's my theory...

...a group of Sci-Fi fans got together and decided to make a sequel to Logan's Run. On the first day of shooting, the director (named Puppy) told everyone that he would be doing the filming. But somebody else, we'll call him Chris, brought his own camera and had been hoping he would be the cameraman. Then Puppy noticed the look of disappointment on Chris' face. Being a nice guy, he decided to put Chris in charge of the "making of". Everyone was pretty happy with the arrangement and shooting began in earnest. We're burning daylight here folks!

Once principal photography was completed, Puppy got to work on editing his magnum opus. But alas, he left the memory cards on the dashboard of his car during a particular hot Florida day and they completely melted. And being the carefree guy he was, Puppy did not have any backups.

Luckily, he remember that other guy walking around with his own camera, what was his name again? Of right, Chris! After a few phone calls to other crew members he eventually got in contact with Chris and asked him for a copy of everything he had shot. Chris, feeling very happy that his efforts were being recognized, gladly sent them over.

Puppy was then able to string together shots of actors speaking about their characters, bits of rehearsals, camera tests and a healthy amount of "borrowed" (I hope copyright lawyers aren't reading this) footage from classic movies and TV shows. The result is a jumbled mess of nonsense.

P.S. I had nothing to do with the making of this movie. This review is merely my own "fan fic" of the making of this "fan fic" movie.

Absolute Garbage

I couldn't get to the 10 minute mark without stopping the program. It's not the sequel that it claims to be and I am surprised that lawsuits didn't happen.

I'm so sorry!
clem-273 December 2023
After reading misterrfalcon's brief review, I had to see it for myself. I'm so sorry that I didn't heed his advise.

I'm also sorry that these idiots ever found a working camera.

I'm sorry that nobody proofread the text in the first few minutes, there were many glaring spelling errors, and a terrible misuse of an apostrophe in reference to a camera that should result in someone's punishment.

I'm sure that had someone tried, there could have been humorous takes on the some of the scenes, or a running joke throughout that might have loosely tied things together, but this is proof that daydrinking exists, and is a problem for some.

Not a real movie
mikesfakeaccount8 September 2022
It's like a few friends got together and did some bad improv. Like kids playing dress up and coming up with a stupid story as they go along.

You've got:
  • clips of friends at a roller rink skating around while having an imaginary lazer fight
  • acting out a bit of 1984
  • telling us the plot of Battlestar Galactica
  • telling us that a character is Logan's daughter from Logan's Run
  • then a bad amalgamation of all those

They didn't know where to go with it so they ended with they're all fictional characters, and the set being shut down.

Bad story, bad acting, bad narration, bad sound, bad camera work.

This has no redeeming qualities.
