Starts bad, never picks up.

I watched this with my partner as she's Vegan, for the record I am not.

This film does a shockingly bad job at portraying vegans positively. The main character is so unlikable! She's arrogant, aggressive, confusing, her moral compass is all over the place, and yet we are supposed to root for her to succeed, why?! The films message is confusing too, is this a vegan movie or a coffee movie? Cos it fails to be either or blend the two in any 'interesting' way. At one point the main character drinks a rivals MILK coffee and says it's good forgetting her messages of NO MILK- never brought up. Also, the film seems to make 'fun' of the idea of the coffee competition which sits at the core of this movie, characters will say stuff like 'wow, people are watching now!' and 'you can catch this show in a prison near you!' Like, what?

The editing and use of music is abysmal, the film can't figure out how to end or start scenes, you just get thrown in without warning besides a random shot of a faucet or oat milk being poured, the b roll is E4 tattoo fixers worthy, it's atrocious and they happen soo often that it really drags you out the film. The film can't decide when it what's to slowly explain something to you or bash it over your head, so it kinda does both, the opening 'rant' sequence is a great example of this.

The style of this film is pretty good tho and it's why it's a 4 and not lower, some really well thought out shots and the use of colour and lighting to get ideas and messages across is pretty clever, it's just a shame they also decided to grab ideas from 2008 n blast lens flares every chance they get. And could we please have got a scene without a backing track- omg !!

It's a well shot movie with SOME heart but it's message is obscured by it's own inability to coherently portray a sequence without 9 million cuts or abrupt music changes/stings ruining any flow it may have been gaining. The Vegan stuff is forgettable outside of the odd 'cows are forced to make milk' tired old argument thrown at you over and over. The main character is a pretentious asshat who literally breaks her own lifelong rules multiple times for personal gain.

Tl;dr: if you ain't a vegan and you ain't watching this with someone who is then AVOID at all costs. You will learn absolutely NOTHING about veganism besides the same nonsense you will already likely know, this film brings nothing to the table besides a sour glass of oat milk. 4/10.

Cute, funny, movie with heart and a message

It was very good! Funny, not too preachy but it had a great story and it made me rethink some choices. My family and I have cut back on milk for quite a while now and I just bought plant based heavy cream today and although most of my changes were selfish since lactose wrecks me....it was good to know small changes help the planet in a big way. I wanted to watch this movie and was delighted to see that it was available on Amazon. It was very well done and I was really impressed that coffee wars and competitions like in the movie actually take place...as shown in the credits. Incredible talent and artistry!!

My boss has been pushing the advantages of a plant based lifestyle but this movie wasn't pushy, just fun and thought provoking. I am hoping to slowly introduce more changes in my life and subtle movies like this help. Bullying, shock and awe doesn't do it for me.

A unique taste that won me over in the end

Coffee Wars was an enjoyable watch. The theme centres around Jo who Is a strong advocate of Oat Milk.

For the first ten or fifteen minutes I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the film as the colour palette , voice over, general cinematography and set design took a bit of getting used but as the film went on it was clear to see that the style really did suit the story being told.

Jo moved out of her parents place, who own a successfully diary producing farm in their own right, to open an independent vegan coffee shop. As she and her shop begin to struggle financially, Jo has to decide whether to enter the World Barista Championships that she's previously had issues with, not least because Oat Milk is banned in many aspects of the competition.

The film tests Jo's beliefs and principles as well as those of her friends and employed whilst also taking a look at some of the faults of high street chains and it did it all in the setting of a quirky independent coffee shop.

The support characters do a good job of bringing enough laughs and charm to the film although they can be over the top in certain places.

The visuals during the coffee making scenes are great. I especially enjoyed the underground coffee battle scene, my favourite scene of the movie.

Whilst it took a bit of getting used to, Coffee Wars won me over as an enjoyable comedy with a decent message. I hear all that all profits will be donated to charity, good on the team for that one.

Not worth the time it takes to watch it. Terrible performances by otherwise good actors means it's on the director.

Randall Miller's lackluster attempt at a satirical comedy that falls flat on every level. The film tries to explore the cutthroat competition between two coffee chains, but instead of delivering a sharp commentary on corporate greed and consumerism, it resorts to cheap gags, offensive stereotypes, and uninspired storytelling.

The characters are one-dimensional and unlikable, with the exception of the protagonist who is merely tolerable at best. The script is riddled with cliches, contrivances, and forced jokes that only elicit cringes and groans from the audience. The pacing is sluggish, and the direction is amateurish, lacking any creative flair or visual finesse.

The film's attempts at social commentary are misguided and shallow, reducing complex issues to simplistic caricatures and trivializing the struggles of marginalized communities. The portrayal of women, minorities, and LGBTQ+ characters is regressive and offensive, perpetuating harmful stereotypes and reinforcing the status quo.

Overall, "Coffee Wars" is a forgettable film that fails to entertain or enlighten. It's a shame that such a talented cast and crew were wasted on this subpar and misguided project. Save your time and money and skip this film.

We just laughed.....great comedy

Coffee Wars is an incredibly funny and entertaining film, and has been making me laugh out loud ever since I watched it. This movie follows the story of three coffee shop owners vying to control the coffee industry in their small town. It features a great cast of characters, including an outrageous barista and an old-fashioned cafe manager. The humor of the movie is spot-on, incorporating both sight gags and clever dialogue. There's never a dull moment in this movie, and every scene is full of unexpected laughs.

The cinematography and direction of the film are surprisingly good, as the movie is largely set in the coffee shops and their surrounding areas. The filming does a great job of capturing the characters' personalities, as well as the amazing coffee drinks they serve. There is an impressive amount of detail put into each scene, and the use of camera angles and lighting help to portray the atmosphere and mood of each setting.

Coffee Wars is incredibly well-written, with a great blend of comedy and drama. The movie provides an interesting look into the coffee business, and the different coffee shop owners' strategies for success. Watching the characters going head-to-head as they try to become the coffee shop king makes for an exciting and amusing story.

If you like Notting Hill or Four Weddings etc then this film is for you...goofily funny and just a good time was had all round.

Great cast, good script,well shot and just quirkily funny and I'm still smiling about it now several weeks after I first saw it.

Coffee Wars and Me Time!

I like this movie, the characters and the plot the director did but I think it still need a blast for me to give a 10 ⭐ but overall it's good.l.

Aside giving 7 ⭐ doesn't mean that it's not perfect but it is the chance for the directors and production to be more harder in other parts that need improvements. I'm really looking forward for more of their works. It is really something special for the audience to be hear off so thanks for this review options.

Funny and something important to support!

Okay, I'm not the kind of person who writes revenues, so bare with me I'm 86. I have to say that I have never seen a film like this-- funny, colorful and 100% about an issue! The closest thing I can compare it too is Dr Strangelove, though nothing like it. This is very well acted and so inventive. It shot of reminded me of Everything Everywhere All At Once... The dialogue is fast and British, so I put on the Closed Captions to keep up, That was well worth it. It was funny and shocking at times, and seemed geared for a younger crowd than me, but I adored it. Please please watch this one! I am so happy I did.

This film is so touching and Inspiring Coffee wars is a comedy feature film that shares a powerful message about embracing a dairy-free future to improve health of the planet while bringing attention to veganism, ethical consumerism, and female entrepreneurship While being an entertaining watch, the comedy also aims to shine a light on the need to embrace dairy-free living. This, while also underscoring the importance of ethical consumption and women empowerment in the professional world.

Well researched but disappointing

While the movie subject matter seemed well researched, both from the coffee world and the 'Save the Planet' perspectives, we found it otherwise very disappointing. It depended entirely on obscenities, cheap inuendo and poor toilet humour in place of true comedy to get across what could have been a powerful message. Instead it came across as a joke, it cheapened the subject. There were a lot of unnecessary and explicit sexual references which were insulting to the adult viewer and irrelevant to the story. What a waste of an opportunity to promote a worthy and important cause. I'm sorry I wasted the money and the time on it.

Like The Bear with Coffee

Coffee Wars is slightly reminiscent of The Bear, but set in a militantly vegan coffee shop instead of a restaurant. (Don't you dare ask for a latte with milk!) The winsomely coffee-obsessed misfits take their espresso shot to the World's Best Barista competition (is there really such a thing? I hope so). I thought this one-shot movie was funny and full of heart, and almost hope they'll base a series on it with the same setting, rivalries and cast members. You'll never see your faceless anonymous coffee shop workers the same again. Tip them accordingly. And don't you dare ask for milk from a cow!

A movie with unique appeal

This film may not have the best acting, or the best plot. And I may not even be particularly interested in coffee. But regardless, this is the first film I've seen that weaves interesting and socially important vegan ideas into a non-documentary story format type of film, and presents these ideas in the context of a fun and optimistic, feel-good, and uplifting story rather than conveying its points in a depressing sort of way as so many other vegan films would typically do.

Therefore, this film is in a category of its own and has few (if any) competitors. On that basis, because there are so few other films of this type, I think I am justified in giving the film an excellent score because of its unique nature and characteristics few other films have.

Winning Barista Championship makes an unique theme for Movies.

The movie is really great.

Coffee aficionado, Jo (Kate Nash), is doing her best to keep her plant-based, independent, coffee shop afloat alongside her band of misfit employees.

In a last-ditch effort to save her business, Jo and her team embark to battle it out as the underdogs competing in the World Barista Championship in order to finally have a chance to prove herself in the dairy-dominated world of coffee.

As you can see, the movies tells about the competition to winning Barista, its so different with anothee movies. You will see how great their teamwork and work.

This is the greatest competition !!

Garbage

Directed by convicted murderer in violation of his parole, Randall Miller demonstrates his usual unprofessional mediocrity. Like all of his tepid filmography, his work is at best derivative and at worst, mind-numbingly tedious. Coffee wars is no exception. Shot in the few locations on earth where Miller can show his face around a film crew without being recognized as the killer of camera assistant Sarah Jones, the film lacks any professional polish or technical quality.

I would assume the people who worked on this "film" only did so because they didn't know the director had been convicted of murdering a crew member or because they were truly desperate for money to feed their families.

The film is cheap, pointless, and supports a person who should never ever be allowed on set. Don't waste your time or money on it.

An Orgy of Caffeinated Money Shots

The Espresso Strikes Back in this high-octane Comedy that had me Jonesing for a Cuppa Joe from the moment I hit Play.

Whether you're a Coffee Connoisseur or not, you'll absolutely want to sip your favorite Elixir while steeping in this full-bodied Satire. Sure to become for Java Junkies what "Cocktail" is for Mixologist Mavens, what "Half-Baked" is for Cannabis Culture, what "Beerfest" is for Libation Lovers, and what "Fight Club" is for Soap Salespersons... "Coffee Wars" pours fast-paced Quirk for the well-versed palette of Baristas and their flock of Mud Maniacs.

Writer/Director Randall Miller's (CBGB, Bottle Shock, The Sixth Man, Houseguest) passion for all things Cafe' is unquestionable, with a Shakespearean-like articulatory agility that would give Ol' Willy himself the Shakes. Miller's brilliantly brewed dialogue is deliciously percolated by an All-Star Cast led by Kate Nash (Rhonda Richardson of "GLOW") with Toby Sebastian (Trystane Martell of "Game of Thrones"), Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin Quinn of "Derry Girls"), and Owain Arthur (Prince Durin IV of "The Rings of Power").

How such powerhouses from the United Kingdom came together under the Salary Cappuccino for an Indie Film whose proceeds go 100% to Environmental and Animal Welfare Charities is beyond me... but Closed Captioning definitely aids the typical Americano with catching all those rapid-fire punchlines!

And yes, folks, there is a strong Environmental message amidst this fast-paced take on the World Barista Championships (which is a legit thing-- a decade of winners' pictures punctuate the end credits!)... so file this under Charming *and* Progressive. Change comes better Latte' than never!

Fun, funny, and important!

Kudos to all narrative filmmakers who use their tools to make a movie that tries to do good in the world. May there be more folks in Hollywood who follow this lead. Coffee Wars will make you laugh and make you think. With any luck, it might even encourage you to try to save this planet one cup of coffee at a time. I hope so. All the revenue made from this film will be given to environmental charities, animal charities, and organizations dedicated to the betterment of this world and those of us who want to keep living off of it for generations to come. It is incumbent upon all of us to try to make this world a better place. Watch the film. It might teach you a thing or two, and if not, you might just have a few hearty laughs.

I'm enjoying this film like a drink a cup of coffee in the morning!

Full of taste, funny, colorfull, creamy, bitter, sweet, sad, tense, happy, and many more you can feel it!

I love the main character, umm especially all character on this film. They're sooo powerfull and not domination to each other. Clear storyline, unpredictable problem, strong characters, good acting, and also the meaning or value from this film is real and can be felt on every audiens. No worries to watch, coz it's very very enjoyable for your leisure time or self reward after during your activities. Hahahaha i recommend this👍🏼

Wow, what a film!

I loved this film! I smiled and laughed the whole way through. Each of the characters spoke to me in different ways. Each was so well developed, so quirky and warm and funny. It is such a rare thing to find in movies, especially comedies, especially comedies that have a dire message. This is going to be my go-to pick-me-up when I'm having one of those stressed-out, the news-is-terrible, life-sucks days. The film even inspired me to go to barista university to learn the art. Kidding, although I do happen to be a coffee-lover, with my own little espresso machine and bean grinder. But even if you're strictly a chai-soy-latte, fruit-shake, or protein-drink person, you're gonna love "Coffee Wars."

Great movie

This movie so amazing, the movie story about Coffee aficionado Jo is doing her best to stay afloat running her own coffee shop alongside a band of unpredictable colleagues, but nothing seems to be going her way. She can make a latte better than anyone, but her customers have trouble getting past one thing: her coffee shop is vegan. Drowning in debt and with everything on the line, Jo and her team of misfits gear up as the underdogs for the World Barista Championships, where she'll face her "full fat full cream" archrival Rudy. Jo will finally have a chance to prove herself in the dairy-dominated world of coffee, and, most importantly, win the big cash prize.

Best comedy I've seen in a while

True. A Vegan, female business owner trying to make it in a non-female, non-Vegan world seems an unlikely seed for a film, but I'll be damned if it isn't a whole lot of fun.

Kate Nash is a star. Her comedic timing is inherent, and she clearly believes in the material. All of her supporting players are well cast and just as funny (if not funnier) than Miss Nash.

The look and pace of the film are vibrant and caffeinated and both enhance the experience.

I laughed more than I thought I would. I came to care about these characters, and I teared up a time or two.

Finally, I've begun buying oat milk instead of half & half, a change I'm happy to make and I have this film to thank.

Enjoyable Movie

Mona Lisa in a coffee cup!

When the underground latte competition in the movie came on I was in heaven! It was The Fight Club of Latte Art! This film was so inventive and special. It combines a social message with balls to the wall comedy! I have never seen anything like it. It's on the one hand Pitch Perfect or Dodgeball but on the other it is as wonderfully absurd as Everything Everywhere All At Once... without the buttplugs! Although there is a scene where a guy eats coffee beans, poops them out and roasts them... "A tangy yet savory flavor!" The cast is great too, reminds me of The Full Monty or Fisherman's Friend with a wonderful ensemble of Brit actors, mostly. One thing I do really appreciate is the PWD actor who plays the main barista judge, I applaud the filmmakers for casting an actual PWD for that role. A role that doesn't even call for it. Truly, a great ride, boatload of laughs, a few important messages laced in and a great way to spend the evening.

Amazing show ive watched this before and i like the plot and great characters as well. Im loving the pacing of the movies and it shows that people can do best when they try to do it. I super love the idea of this film because personally i like coffee hahahaha and i think this is a great movie not just for coffee lovers but for people who like to watch something fun and interesting. The main character shows that she is passionate about what she does and doesn't think twice before doing it for as long as she wanted something she do it with whole heart. Coffee wars is a recommend film for all ages.

A timely and idealogically correct comedy

An intriguing nowadays story about fight of 21st century values against outdated norms. A perfect movie for those who like coffee, culinary films, and a couragious revolutionary spirit. As a type its commedy though with lots of dynamic dramatic turn overs. Quite lengthy, but really easy to watch. Thus, though the plot is quite intense it does not makes You tired after it, but rather uplifted mood.

I would call it a must if You are a coffee fan, pro-vegan, or even anti-vegan ;-) Actors are sincerely playing well and diverse.

For sure to recommend it for my friends and personally will be looking for a movies alike!

We need more vegan movies!

Vegan movie! With vegan Main Character AND vegan actress playing the vegan MC!

I finally watched it and it was fresh and cheezy and sweet and sometimes sad and with strong vegan message(several messages actually) And the last scene broke me. I wish I had that too.

At times I thought it was too much to portray a vegan character this way, but then I realised that's someone's reality, that's how they are trying to deal with everyday life and that could have been me(I know the struggle all too well) I recommend everyone watch it, and we need more vegan movies, younger me would have loved to see the representation years ago. It's not for everyone, but it's for most of us.
