Worst movie i ever saw
julianstornelli3 November 2021
80% of the film is a close-up of Erica Rivas' face, the script is embarrassing and the plot makes no sense.

They sought to make an original film and the result was a disaster.

What?!

So very boring & nonsensical. How does anyone write this? Wish I'd given up and stopped watching it but I stick with it, unfortunately. An hour and a half movie has never felt so long. Do not waste your time.

Subtly disturbing 'uncanny mystery'
jonathanrogers114 October 2020
I saw this as part of the BFI London Film Festival, not really sure what to expect. The film plays with dreams, realities and hallucination via an excellent performance by lead actress and disturbing sound design. It's not an outright horror which may disappoint some viewers, but took a more subtle approach to leave the audience guessing between whether the character suffers from mental illness or supernatural oppressors.

El Prófugo/The Intruder (2020) esp/eng
grondonamanu22 October 2021
Vayan a verla! Además: Érica Rivas cautiva con su rol protagónico (de hecho, por segundo año consecutivo su película fue la preseleccionada), y bueno, Cecilia Roth siempre brilla. 8/10.

The Intruder was selected as the picture that will represent Argentina in the 'Best Foreign Film' at the 2022 Oscars. Despite some slow script parts, and a very weird editing, The Intruder is a truly great horror picture, a movie that will absolutely play with your mind, at any time. Érica Rivas is fantastic in her role, she portrays a very shady character in the most empathetic way (besides, for 2nd consecutive year her picture is selected at the Oscar-contender). Cecilia Roth is (as usual) amazing too. 8/10.

Mind made up

It is tough to rate some movies or even write a review about them. Especially movies that have a very weird mood and feeling to them, like this one. Some might and did compare to Bavarian Sound Studio. Now that is fair to a degree, but it also is quite different. Especially pacing wise, because this takes its time - like really takes its time.

Some might call it annoying or even slow and boring. That will be up to your taste of course. What you can't take away from the movie is how well it is shot, the sound design and the akward acting too of course. This is a slow burner with a lot of questions asked, but not many answered - at least not obviously answered! Because you may have aquired an answer for yourself to many things - conclusions one may say ...
