In the wake of a lengthy list of no-shows at Saturday’s PaleyFest, Paramount is still holding out hope for the future of Yellowstone.
Despite the original RSVP list announced in mid-January confirming their PaleyFest attendance, creator Taylor Sheridan, executive producer David Glasser and cast members Kevin Costner (John Dutton), Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton), Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton), Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton), Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater) and Jacki Weaver (Caroline Warner) were all absent.

In the lore of "Star Trek," Starfleet Academy is located on Earth, just on the other side of the still-standing Golden Gate Bridge on San Francisco Bay. Any Starfleet officer on any "Star Trek" show has attended Starfleet Academy for several years, learning everything there is to know about diplomacy, tactics, xenolinguistics, starship engineering, history, and piloting. By the franchise's description, it's the most rigorous and intense college the future has to offer. Starfleet Academy is open to anyone aged over 16 years (or their home planet's equivalent) and not everyone makes it all the way through. Numerous stories in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" centered specifically on Starfleet Academy..
Non-Trekkies may recall Starfleet Academy being mentioned in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," and the school's notoriously unwinnable Kobayashi Maru test. Cadets are meant to fail to gauge their character and their command skills.

This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
After the easter egg bonanza of “The Bounty,” it’s time for Picard to dial it back in the callback department. But while the latest episode, “Dominion,” doesn’t have nearly as many references to the past as last week’s episode, almost all of these nods push the plot forward. Picard season 3 is entering the final phase of its massive story and “Dominion” raises the stakes in huge ways.
Here are all the best easter eggs, shout-outs, and references we found in the episode…
Chin’toka Scrapyard
The episode opens with the Titan hiding in the Chin’toka Scrapyard. This means we’re back in the Chin’toka system, which first appeared in Deep Space Nine. This system was featured in several DS9 episodes, such as “Tears of the Prophets” and “The Siege of Ar-558.” The Breen and the Dominion blew away...

Starfleet wants you!
That, or whatever the Federation’s recruiting slogan would be, is something you’ll hear over the next couple of years, as Paramount+ has given a series order to a new live-action show, “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” the streamer announced today just two days after confirming multi-season orders for “Strange New Worlds” and “Lower Decks.”
Paramount+ will not confirm this to be the case, but the “Starfleet Academy” series is likely a spinoff of “Star Trek: Discovery,” which will conclude in early 2024 with its fifth and final season. The speculation then is that it would be set in that show’s 32nd-century timeline. A Season 4 plotline on “Discovery,” in which Mary Wiseman’s Ensign Tilly served as the in-the-field instructor for a group of Academy cadets before leaving the show altogether to continue being their teacher, feels like a backdoor pilot.

It’s official: Paramount+ has ordered a Starfleet Academy TV series.
After more than a year in development, the streamer has greenlit Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, plus released a description of the show.
The new series description and quote below from the showrunners seems to hint at a more soapy YA Trek than the other shows, as well as increased diversity (which, given this is the world of Star Trek, could refer to species diversity, as well).
Starfleet Academy “will introduce us to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”

“Star Trek” has had some memorable villains in the past: Khan, Q and The Borg Queen to name just a few.

As the season progressed, her true, tragic origin was revealed. Here’s everything we know about the villainous Vadic.
Warning, this post contains spoilers through Episode 7 of “Star Trek: Picard.”
Who Plays Captain Vadic?
Vadic is played by Amanda Plummer on “Star Trek: Picard.” She is an original character introduced in Season 3. She appeared in promos ahead of the season premiere, and debuted in the second episode titled “Disengage.”

When J.J. Abrams' feature film "Star Trek" was released in theaters in 2009, there seemed to be a clear creative mandate at work. "Star Trek" was set prior to the events of the 1966 TV series on which it was based, telling an alternate timeline version of how the well-known "Trek" characters all first met. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and the rest of the crew were all depicted as younger, hotter versions of themselves, each one more youthful and impulsive than their adult counterparts from 1966.
Given the hot-headedness of the Enterprise crew and the entire 2009 film's "action-packed" vibe, the mandate mentioned above seems to have demanded the filmmakers kick everything into Overdrive. It's as if they wanted critics to respond with the phrase, "This ain't your grandpa's 'Star Trek.'"

In the final episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," called "All Good Things..." (May 23, 1994), Capt. Picard (Patrick Stewart) had become unstuck in time and was randomly experiencing his past from seven years prior, his present, and his future 30 years hence, all out of sequence. This was an exciting premise for "Next Generation" Trekkies, as it allowed them to see one possible future for all their favorite characters. This has been a notable episode ever since the debut of "Star Trek: Picard" in 2020, as certain elements of the "All Good Things..." future timeline have sneakily made their way into the franchise's official canon.
For instance, "All Good Things..." features Picard tending to his family's winery, something he does in "Picard." "All Good Things..." also posited that Picard was diagnosed with Iromodic syndrome, a rare brain ailment. That syndrome becomes a plot point in the third season of "Picard." Notably, in both "All Good Things.

Paramount+ is boldly doubling down on its ever-expanding “Star Trek” universe: The streamer has given a two-season renewal each to beloved series “Strange New Worlds,” which debuted in the summer of 2022 to the greatest acclaim for a first season of “Trek” ever, and quirky animated comedy series “Lower Decks.”
The news comes just a few weeks after word that flagship series “Star Trek: Discovery,” which kicked off the whole streaming “Star Trek” universe on CBS All Access in 2017 before the streamer became Paramount+, will be ending with its fifth season.
