What's everyone's deal???
nathanmanson25 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why does everyone hate this film so much, I'm seriously confused. I've started watching films without checking the IMDb rating first and I comfortably gave this a 7. I was shocked when I saw all the reviews and ratings. The film was powerful and it was really enjoyable to watch, with a happy ending what more are you asking for. It even made me tear up and one point and I would say that doesn't happen often but it happens more times then it should and it's concerning.

Just watch the movie instead of reading those bashing reviews.
deloudelouvain2 February 2020
I only read the first page of reviews, which all portray this movie as really bad, and to be honest those people need to get a life. I won't say it's the greatest movie ever, I wouldn't go to the theater to watch it, but it would be good enough for a tv-movie. The story is entertaining, there are some intriguing questions that keep a certain level of suspense, the acting isn't bad (some actors are just slightly better than others), but overal it's a watchable movie. I would have put the twist at the end a little bit earlier in the movie and developped that better, just to make it more thrilling and attractive, that's all. The story might have been a bit predictable but it's really not as bad as some reviews made it look like. Just give it a try.

Unrealistically Written
zacharytharris-5146617 January 2020
Begin as a great movie but doubtful scenes and outcomes weren't practical. Another Tyler Perry project disillusion with the same redundant casting. Tyler Perry has sacrificed everything to build a brand with the largest movie studio ever but its time he trust other accomplished writers to cultivate his artistry.

Well those 1,2,3,4 reviews are really so childish. I don't know why majority gives so less to this movie. I felt this it was pretty good about 60-80minutes. The ending was kind of stupid and ruint the whole movie. Still it's really enjoyable to watch and as 2020 it's one of the best movies so far. People with 20% of brain cells, please, don't write reviews if you can't say anything smart.

Make it make sense
tmatthew-1606418 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, why does it look like Madea fluffed up her old wigs to put on these people heads? We have a lot of holes in this movie. The worst was the cop husband. He legit went to the house and watched a women jump off a roof there. Later in the movie he was driving his wife to the address and not for one second said hey a woman jumped off the roof of that place. Also he would have to question the owner of the house during the time, but he acted like he didn't know her during the whole trial. To top that one, he ran the guys name and said he came up clean. The guy had stolen the dead women's name, so there's no way he could have came up at all. Also the cop should know the name of the woman who committed suicide right in front of him. Did he not have to write a report? And finally the biggest discrepancy, how are they having trial over a man that is using an alias? He shouldn't even exist in the books to say that he's missing. When they pulled up his name they should have noticed something was wrong. If I called myself Ronald McDonald and then went missing, before a trial even happened they would have to figure out who I really was. The bodies in the basement was cheesy, no Black women with millions of dollars is keeping all these bodies in the basement in a regular neighborhood. Not one person would take these women for millions of dollars just to live in a regular house with a bunch of victims in the basement and drive a basic van. Please make it make sense. What did she need or use the money for? Both her hair and her son's hair looked jacked, so it couldn't be that.

Beware, Ladies and Gentlemen! This Is What I Came Away With From This Movie
VintageSoul569 March 2020
I liked the movie more than I thought I would. BUT, the main thing that I came away with from this movie is to be careful of who you let into your life. Be proactive in protecting your identity, reputation, your financial situation. This stuff happens everyday. Not to sound paranoid, but be cautious. There are a lot of con artists and scammers out there.

Reading some of the reviews, yeah, some of it did become interesting at the end. However, it wasn't that much different that some Lifetime or LMN movies that I've seen. There are also true events that involve people being held captive in basements, bunkers, etc., so it wasn't all that farfetched. I did have a problem with the husband being alive after the wife baseball battered him to death, or so we thought. However, the plot twist involving Grace's friend, Sarah, wasn't farfetched either. I remember a TV movie that starred Mary Tyler Moore in 2001, "Like Mother, Like Son: The Strange Story of Sante and Kenny Kimes". It was based on actual con games and murders mother and son had committed together. So, this is what I came away with "A Fall from Grace", sometimes you DO have to look a gift horse in the mouth because not all is what it seems.

Plot twist ruined the movie
itspax19 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe it. I watched the movie and liked it. Then came the plot twist and I totally lost it. It doesn't make sense for one second and she really killed this guy with a baseball bat and hit him on the head with full force a million times and he turned out to be fine with just a bandaid on his head. You are kidding here right?

Sad but True
authorkradir18 January 2020
I felt this one. How he finessed her then turned to a vicious viper! Men, people like that are out there. This movie was waaaaayyyy believable. Some might say it's a typical plot. It might be BUT it's so real. Aside from the plot, I've seen better productions. The movie did come off like a low budget project. With Perry' exp you'd think Netflix would have given him a better budget or he would have cared to spend a little more money.

Warning: Spoilers
Just happened to watch this film on Netflix today.

Here is a quick synopsis An African American woman is framed for killing her younger husband, but is there more to the story that meets the eye.

Without giving away too much the plot twist was definitely something I never expected to happen.

Is this a Netflix joke ?
negoitavladnicolae20 January 2020
I don't usually review a movie but this movie totally deserves my feedback.

I can't find a positive aspect in this movie. It was a disaster and all the viewers should receive a free-month from Netflix as a gesture.

I actually liked it
raechelle-2405118 January 2020
I actually really liked this movie. It kind of reminded me of acrimony at times. Which was a movie I really enjoyed by Tyler P. I liked that it seemed different from most of his lovey dovey movies. I also liked the plot twist.

I thought this was good. A little slow at first and I thought I might lose interest, oh but that twisty ending was great!

This is basically if an intern at the hallmark channel was forced to write a law and order episode... In 5 days.

Good Work Terry.
yusufpiskin17 January 2020
Each character displayed its own set of challenges based on their role in society and provided very relatable character demeanours and personas that each viewer could explore and become attached to. You get twists after twists. Tyler Perry does do some good work. I didn't care for his character though. There were moments that caught me off guard. Some stuff were predictable. The finale was interesting, had intensity. Somewhat confusion. I enjoyed the chemistry between Grace and Jasmine. One of the better Netflix films given to us so far this year.

Foreclosure...after 42 days.
kimbpaul24 February 2020
A mortgage gets taken out, 1st payment is 30 days past due only 42 days after "closing" on said morgage, and banker says make a payment now to avoid foreclosure??? What stupid fresh he!! kind of foolishness is this? It took 14 months for my house to be foreclosed after making late payments for 6 months (waiting to get refinancing approval after the 2008 crash when my employer went bankrupt) Obviously, Mr. Perry hasn't had a mortgage. Don't know why I'm still watching this dreck. I had to pause the movie and walk outside for a smoke. Good God almighty. I'm determined to see the crazy ending people are talking about. I need a good laugh. I'm gonna need to watch The Waterboy after this mess just to recover a few brain cells.

Ok Premise, Terrible Execution.
mildbillt-5-66599818 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I can deal with B list actors. Everyone has to start somewhere. But I can only suspend reality so much. The defense lawyer, with weeks and weeks of experience, is most annoying. Most incredible is she calls a defense witness and allows that witness to perjure herself, get caught, then the witness destroys the case. She apparently has never watched an episode of Law and Order! Her conduct is ridiculous and just ruins the whole movie. Pure lazy writing. Nice twist at the end though. That gives it a 6 versus a 2.

HORRIBLE

It's almost like a Tyler Perry said, "Let's make a really stupid movie and pretend we were being serious, and then laugh at everybody that actually watches it all the way through.

I don't know if I am biased, but as a menopausal woman I felt such a connection to Grace.

The attention, the romance, the kindness - I would have fallen for it. Serious hats off to the young man who played the role of Shannon.

Jasmine was a slow burning awakening, and a joy to watch. Strong young woman who found strength by witnessing another strong woman's fall.

I don't even know the ending and I love it

Although the plot of the movie was intriguing....... the script and dialogue were less than subpar. The acting was absolutely perfect....... for community theater. An epic fail for Netflix and Tyler Perry.

Slow burning and surprising
brianbrickles17 January 2020
Jasmine, a lawyer with a penchant for plea bargains takes a case that seems to have a foregone conclusion.

The film gets really exciting as it approaches the 60 minute mark and Perry succeeds at telling us a multi-layered tale with unexpected twists and turns.

You will be rewarded for your patient inspection of his latest work.

Horribly Produced Film
deidrekirk20 January 2020
A Fall from Grace was exactly what this movie was. I guess Tyler did not get expert advice on producing this film. Why did he invite such talent to be in this movie then poorly produce it? The man wigs alone were start of a bad movie. I can't stop just there. The diner seen where the guy was drinking from an empty cup, chewing with no food in his mouth, he looked in the camera as if he was ready for the screen to be over, the leather coat under his left armpit as if he was ready to leave while sitting at the booth. The extras in a movie should not get more fan fare than the main cast of the shoot. The shaky camera during the car, and drama screens. The baseball bat to the head was worth more than a bandage over the head an black eyes. I understand he remembers and respects the black actors that came before him. However, a check should not be more than dignify. Isn't that what most older people preach. Someone should have enough courage to say to him this will be produced better. Our audience deserves it. It makes a difference in what we have to critique. I haven't touched on the undiverse movies that he always make. This movie just wasn't produced well and is an insult to his audience.

injustice doesnt go along the way
tamartapiero1 March 2021
Extreme Prejudice it is a movie that takes place nowadays. Its told in the first person by Grace Waters while she´s on jail and she tells her experience finding her assumption love of her life, Shanoon; she goes through her happiest days with him until something seem wrong. The tension builds up when strange things start to happen. So its Grace´s layer Jasmine who need to work hard.

I really liked this movie, although it is a heartbreaking story. The characters could transmit their emotions, wich makes you unnerving. It passes the felling that you want to fight and support the characters and make sure that in the end everyone gets what deserves, And there are scenes that shows you a reallity that you can never imagine.

So if you like and are strong enought to touching movies you should deffinetly watch it, i really reccomend it !

Ignore the 10 star ratings...
irishjenna19 January 2020
This movie is so bad! Crystal Fox used to star on In the Heat of the Night. Take the worst episode of that show extended into 2 hours and it would still be Oscar worthy compared to this. Bad acting, terrible lighting (why is everything dark blue?), horrible background music, awful directing.

The courtroom scenes were a joke and so childishly done it was like watching a film made by high schoolers. Fox's narration over the flashbacks was annoying. The bad guy was such a caricature I couldn't even take him seriously and the cop husband was just straight stupid. What was up with all the men with hair that looked like late 80s Bobby Brown after he left New Edition or Will Smith during his Fresh Prince days?

And my god, who was the writer cause they should never write another movie again! At one point the lawyer lady tells Tyler Perry she wants a blood splatter expert. It's blood spatter, not splatter. In another scene Fox says her marriage was a WORLD wind instead of a whirlwind. It's no wonder normal folks have such bad grammar these days when people portraying white collar workers can't even speak appropriately. They can do better than that for black actors, can't they?

There is so much more stupidity but I can't even go on cause this movie already wasted too much of my time, don't let it waste yours.

It may keep you up late
eduramater14 April 2021
Okay, granted, this is far from the most awe-inspiring thriller ever, but it hooked me just the same. Crystal Fox's performance alone would have carried it. Yes, I thought Jasmine's character was silly at best -- What law-school graduate, or even a non-grad who's watched Perry Mason, would stoop to behaving as she did? I was irritated by her boss dismissing her so easily at the beginning, but almost sympathized when she utterly blew her closing argument. And the wrap-up was just a bit too fairy-tale. Before Silence of the Lambs, this storyline might have gone further, but in 2021, it's solidly been-there, seen-that.

HOWEVER...I finished watching the last episode of "The Sinner" and wasn't quite tired yet, so I thumbed through my Netflix list and thought Oh, what the heck? Crystal Fox looks up from the table she's shackled to, opens her mouth, and Bam! There's no way I would have turned this off before the final credits rolled. It was obvious, it was cliched, but it did exactly what a script of this kind is supposed to. It makes you suspend disbelief -- I wasn't even interested in trying to guess who the true villain was. I let Grace figure it out before me - another reason to cheer for her. Then shortly thereafter I enjoyed, for a few minutes, Cicely Tyson's final role. Ms. Tyson could have played the part of a mop in the corner of the kitchen and it still would have been worth it. I would have liked a bit more time spent on the other victims who are revealed at the end. I wasn't happy to see one villain get clean away; wondering what purpose this serves? Yes, there's plenty wrong with this entire picture, but it did what a movie is supposed to do: it entertained. I didn't mind staying up till nearly 3 a.m. With this one. "Trailer Park Boys" and "Little Evil" would not have been worth it.
