- Martin is building a company producing traceable animal collars, but urgently needs a major new investment by Christmas, when he must present and improved product at a New York meeting. His sister and deputy hires canine therapist Erin, whom he initially just charges with minding a litter of twelve puppies needing new homes, abandoned after a photo shoot. She son proves valuable inspiration to re-design the collars, and drags Martin along to deliver the puppies, mistaking his distance for a gringe aversion of dogs, next he takes her along to sell the product, while forcing her former BFF to poetic penance for stealing her fiance, albeit almost the other way around. They learn to appreciate each-other's views and qualities, clearing the path for Cupid.—KGF Vissers
- Canine therapist Erin Thompson's Cyber Monday move from Brooklyn, where she had a private practice doing clinical work, to Silicon Valley - specifically Cupertino, CA - into research and development of a yet undefined nature at a dotcom called Doggone, which is developing a dog collar with a GPS locator, is not as she expects. She did not move there as a married woman as her fiancé Travis, a traveling salesman, left her on their wedding day in confessing that he was having an affair with her best friend, Taylor. She finds that her new boss, egotistical CEO Martin Young, didn't hire her and thus has no defined work for her of an ongoing nature, she instead hired by Martin's sister Carly. She further discovers that while not not a dog lover, Martin is dog phobic. And she learns from Carly that the company is at risk of going under in the product not satisfying investors and that she was hired to "save the company", Carly only saying that things will eventually become clear with regard to this matter. The only assigned immediate task given to her from Martin is to find homes by Christmas Eve for twelve pups that were left behind in the office by a publicity company after a photo shoot. Erin will find that that Christmas Eve date is important as that is when Martin is meeting with their primary investor who may pull the plug if things are not moving in a new direction to his liking. Beyond the twelve pups, Erin takes it upon herself not only to call Martin out on various issues in the way he operates, but to get to the crux of his dog phobia in relation to why he developed this canine-centric company, all the while while trying to come to terms in whatever way she needs on the Travis and Taylor betrayal issue.—Huggo
