No, not like a Shib-Nandita movie at all
tanmoybhattacharjee21 May 2022
Lots of facts have been used to establish a single fact. Faridpur, Muktijuddha etc were used with very quick and incomplete instances. Loose script was saved by the great duo Soumita and Sathilekha. Kharaj was not used as he should be , some copied script from Belasheshe was used unnecessarily . I really was disappointed.

Belashuru - A new beginning
anikb-8709911 June 2022
Belashuru means "A new way of living" or "accepting a new way of living". This film quite well justifies this title . But it has its own issues

This sequel has no connection with whatever happened in Belasheshe. There is not even any reference to that film. Only the characters are carried forward. A Nandita-Shibo film means litres of tears flowing through character's eyes even in situations that dont require and this film is also no different.

The best part of this film is the constant effort put by Biswanath to bring back the memory of his wife Arati suffering from Alzheimer's and the sweet love and care for his wife despite his wife having forgotten him. The two share a terrific yet heart warming chemistry. Actually, this film is dominated by Swati mam and somewhere Soumitra sir feels a little sidelined as the story this time is not revolving around him unlike the previous film. But definitely this part is the highlight. Second great thing was Kharaj . Terrific comic timing bringing in the much needed comic relief in this emotional journey, some notable ones being Arati constantly calling him a milkman or newspaper man due to her illness was really fun to watch. The last good thing are the songs. All are terrific.

Now comes the weak points. A 2hr 20 mins film stretched with those usual expected subplots of the children and grandchildren and this time it does not work at all. An unnecessary gay angle popping up from nowhere (I wouldnt say where as it would be spoilers but wherever is comes, it just feels too forced ), the Sharmishta - Barin story that suddenly disappears at the end with no conclusion and the Palash-Piu story that is so awkward all contribute to nothing but only increase the length of the film. The subplots have no impact at all. Nandita-Shibo should have not opted for this old strategy rather should have focused on the main plot which was very interesting.

The final climax does justify the title brilliantly but then you know, it felt so abruptly ending that audience in the theatre were like "Oh thats the end?" The makers should have ended it in a better way rather than in an abrupt way although i understand it very well justifies the title of the film Belashuru.

Swatilekha mam is the show stealer and this film completely belongs to her. Her behavior as mentally unstable lady is really heart warming and at times heart wrenching to witness. Next is no doubt, Soumitra sir. His chemistry with Swatilekha is terrific. He doesnt dominate the film but has really good moments throughout. Next is Kharaj. His comedy made my day. Others also have done a great job and help in rescuing a film that could have gone down due to poor subplots.

Overall, this is not as good as Belasheshe but definitely a great one time watch. Wont leave a lasting impact on you but you will definitely feel atleast you watched a decent film.

Great experience
kamaljitsingh-3369126 May 2022
A film which will remain in our hearts forever. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. We get to see how soumitra sir portrayed his character with vivid emotions as his wife fails to recognize him.

Not a continuation of Belaseshe
daspalash-0305322 May 2022
I should have known that the actual storyline ended with Belaseshe. People can watch this movie without watching Belaseshe. A typical movie related to Alzheimer disease. Earlier there had been some movies on Alzheimer. You gain nothing except Soumitra and Swatilekha's acting.

Poor execution of real life tragic story
lookitsmeashi30 May 2022
Except for Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha, you can't watch anyone. The story is inspired by the real lives of Pabitra Chitta Nandi and his wife Gita Nandi and the emotions were properly brought by the lead actor.

BUT there comes Poor editing, silly jokes and unnecessary Nyaka dialogues. Quick transitions of scenes and stories.

Most Importantly, is it necessary at all to show in every Shiboproshad Nandita movie that working women are incapable of being mother or a good wife ? LOL . Seriously and normalize periods and stop showing it as a special thing to crave sympathy for. Women are winning over the world with it and a husband really doesn't need to keep his job behind to take care of his BABY wife for preparing hot bag who has apparently left her job to enjoy motherhood and dancing on top of her husband with nags and rants. All three daughters are settled as housewives basically and the daughter in law who is doing something on her own has been divorced.. What a regressive, outdated portrayal.

Waste of time
soumyabanerjee18 October 2022
This is not a film at all, it's very hard to watch till end. Nonexistent script, missing storyline, weak acting and lame dialogue juxtaposed together to show the current hollowness of Bengali film industry. It's a pain to watch and sad that this will be the last film by Soumitra. Shibu-Nandita were mediocre at best with their previous attempts, this is just a disaster!

This also lacks basic preliminary research about the Alzheimer's disease which is supposed to play a central role in the film by trivializing the disease and the struggle the patients and their families go through. Film maker should have honesty, sincerity and intention to work hard, and not resort to tricking audience.

Unique in it;s way
riyadey-2683525 May 2022
The duo on screen and the duo behind the camera have done a wonderful job. Directors can think of such a portrayal that itself is unimaginable. Congratulations to the whole team and thanks for such a beautiful film.

This journey could have been way better
soham-2135821 May 2022
We should know where to stop . May be director duo forget this essential point. They made this sequel only for business . This is the last film of iconic Soumitra-Swatilekha pair. There is nothing that will impress the audience except the songs of the film and the outstanding performance of Soumitra-Swatilekha. The script and story of the film are very weak. The editing of the film is not crisp. Needless to say, the fascination that was created after watching 'Belasheshe' was ruined by 'Belashuru'. You should definitely watch this movie only for Soumita-Swatilekha .

Soumitra- The Legend
sarkarsouvik-1530525 May 2022
When you talk about Soumitra Chatterjee the first thing which strikes the mind is an eternal actor. Throughout his career he has gifted the nation a lot more than we expected. Belashuru is the new beginning where his play was final. Will remain in our hearts forever.

Must Watch
rasalking25 May 2022
One of the best family drama. Shibo daa's vision is incomparable unlike other directors. The bonding between two on screen couples is eternal. It's always more than a treat to watch your film.

Hit the Reality
sumanlahiri-5250126 May 2022
To all those critics who commented that the film is not good, you people are unaware of the reality then. Every family now and then goes through this kind of situation. Only a person knows hoe it feels when his beloved can't recognize him after spending the whole life. Brilliant film. Thank You for such a masterpiece.

Shiboprosad Mukherjee & Nandita Roy- Salute
mandeepvohra26 May 2022
I am an aspiring film student. From storyline to cinematography everything went perfect. This actually happens in most family. Some relationships fades away with insecurity and misunderstanding whereas some sets an example to all marriage couples. It's a treat to watch your film.

Resonance of life
sanjanagangopadhyay31 May 2022
Some emotions can never be articulated. One can only struggle hard everyday to honour the love and devotion that is the foundation of every relationship. The trauma projected by Soumitra Chattopadhyay, the sufferings of Swatilekha Sengupta, who is a victim of Alzheimer's, the turmoil of their children, only makes us realise how difficult and challenging human life is. The audience would be bidding their final adieu to the Soumitra- Swatilekha pair with tearful eyes as they have delivered a world class performance in the film. The one ardent wish of the husband, to be recognised by the wife, remains unfulfilled as the audience leave the hall with a heavy heart.
