They almost got me.
tompeggy-414-811092 January 2020
The setup and evidence just seemed too "good" to be true; and the inclusion of real-life, respected, former "Ghost Hunters" member Steve Gonsalves really helped to sell it, but at about the 1:35 mark credibility went out the window. A secret, new approach is attempted; and the situation becomes so contrived, and the reactions so in-authentic that the "documentary" went from being an amazing, in-depth, legit, paranormal investigation, to just a pretty lazy indy horror film. Actually, let me say that that was the last straw, since credibility was strained beforehand with some hammy reactions from the actors, and one suspiciously well-timed cat cameo. I was trying to figure out if Haunted Saginaw was the real deal, and descriptions of Mr. Shippy's "organization" are all suspiciously cagey; but I know a very scripted plot twist when I see one. It was fairly intriguing until that point, but once the balloon was popped it all became just a wasted 90 minutes... why even finish it?

Why is it always "too dangerous"
fittybones18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't believe in this kind of stuff, but I do love movies like this. This one is ok. I just HATE when they finally have something happened, but then "oh no this is too dangerous we gotta stop." Isn't that what your asking for the "ghosts" to do!? Why is it anytime something happens they're mad lol and quit whatever part of investigation they were doing. Makes zero sense to me. So why ask them to communicate anyway they can, then they slam a door or touch u and oh no that's it this is outta control we gotta stop? Lol otherwise this movie was ok.

40 minutes too long
douglashiller8 February 2020
The film was fun. Like an extender reality ghost th show. Definitely 1.5 hr is what a film like this should be.... not Scorsese length.

Lots of good footage, need a expert doc editor to come and clean it up to give it a tighter narrative

I'll have to watch more and make up my mind
firefox-4594523 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is the first Ive watched in the series of paranormal investigations. I got a few creeps and jump scares from it, but the girl? I found her completely unbelievable and definitely acting. The cameraman was pretty believable, the one smaller guy was and Steve Shippy was ok. I think I liked the cameraman and the other guy the best. I felt they seemed the most sincere.

I did feel the evidence was pretty weak. Any of it could have been done by someone else. There wasn't much done in front of them, and since the family alleged it happens all the time to them, why didn't it happen to them?

Geez, I'm listening to the chic talk to Victor right now about an Easter basket. OMG, she just ruined the whole show. There is no way I believe crap this now.

But it's entertaining. Fake, but entertaining.

Too bad though.

SO SCRIPTED, VERY BAD ACTING
shailosweetkittycat18 January 2020
The worst part of this is the monotoned, lengthy speeches these people give to the ghosts... It's brutal to listen to the long winded, babbling.... Paused and restarted again (very scripted) b.s., it just goes on and on, with no real evidence. Its cheesy and fake.

Interesting
valhallalujah23 December 2019
Regardless of my skeptical nature, I found this to be interesting. Entertaining at the very least. One must take any produced piece with a grain of salt, and that's no different with this. In comparison to previous installments of this series, the quality has improved quite a bit. Not only in actual production, but in their investigatory method. There are still some "cringe" moments here and there ("mediums" and the like), as well as that typical 'spooky" music whatnot, but that seems almost mandatory with these things (for some reason). While the overall quality has improved, there is still evidence presented that asks quite a bit of me to take at face value. Even though it isn't anything over-the-top, there are times where it feels too much is being made of mundane occurrences, which tarnishes the validity of other findings with doubt.

SO produced
toriala21 December 2019
The evidence they claim to have is vague and inconclusive. There are more than just two people on their team and any one of them could slam doors or make footstep noises. I would like to actually see them investigate the noises they hear instead of just talking about it and then cutting to something else. They don't seem very surprised by any of the thumps or door slamming that happens. This, in my opinion, is an "investigation" trying to be a TV show or movie. I've seen better footage of investigations on YouTube.

True paranormal investigation
bbbalson27 December 2019
I see all the low ratings because people think the show is staged and one person even said "vague" evidence and I have to think people don't realize that all of the shows in this series are a conglomeration of their complete investigation which spans months, even up to a year, in the location. This is not your weekly tv show where they spend one night, two if you're lucky, and make a decision. The evidence they collect is always pretty shocking because of the time they spend in each location. So I suppose that if I wanted to watch a show like this and the evidence put before on film would alter the way I had to think about the universe and my surroundings I would call it fake, vague, staged and even fugazi, too. Lucky for me I am not so naive about the afterlife. All that being said, other than the first couple "A Haunting on ...." (where they weren't as experienced at presenting their evidence) the series presents some of the most shocking evidence of hauntings I have seen on a consistent basis from a show. This episode (for lack of a better term) does not disappoint. I suggest watching it with a very open mind as it will test some people's belief systems but if you can you will enjoy it.

Hmmmmm....
mexicanbubble4 November 2021
This entire show series seems too scripted..... From the first entry to the last exit.... I tried to keep watching....but ended up laughing.

There are some truths to paranormal involved, but it's mainly scripts and bad actors.

Things that go BUMP
hemipirate29 November 2019
I've been a fan of paranormal shows for many years, since Ghost Hunters. Unfortunately some shows give the paranormal research field a bad name. I really like Mr Shippy's investigations. They're all very entertaining. His passion for his work really shows in his documentaries. It's a bonus when Steve Gonsalves is involved. This one, A Haunting on Brockway Street gave me chills on multiple occasions! The fact that it's over two hours long is icing on the cake! Well done, Mr Shippy and crew, well done!

It's good but she withholds crucial information.
summerdaises12 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
That makes her look shady! Plus they mention the cellar once....I have a feeling that needs some more delving into. Someone was kept there....but ignore it?? Aloso why does she suddenly recollect who it may be at the very end? That irked me, as did her hiding information originally. Plus the bone they found.....that should have gone to the police.

The fact that they used an ouija board and did "charlie charlie" irked me to no end because it's so irresponsible. Plus they have pets and they allowed this darker entity to come in, invited. The whole family just comes across as irresponsible in this one, especially the lady. That cellar should have been investigated more, and she shouldn't have withheld crucial information that they clearly needed upfront.

An hour too long...
blue_wolverine14 May 2022
Shippy loves the reality show angle with all those confessionals! They serve no purpose other than letting him hear his own voice. And what's with the flashlight when all the lights are on? I guess you got to need to make your own reflections for the movie. Why don't the cameras film the doors closing?

A Snoozing on Sleepy Street
bhsfacebook11 January 2020
Two hours of creaky doors, noises in walls, and half-baked speculation. It's *like* a documentary, but it's not. It's two hours of your life YOU CAN NEVER GET BACK.

Love Shippy's work
sarahlouisemoran18 February 2020
I've had an interest in the paranormal my whole life, I'm 50 - I've watched a lot of paranormal tv shows and films. I really enjoyed the whole of this series. The lore is explored in depth but, most importantly for me, the people come across as credible (the folks being haunted) that's very rare in this field. It doesn't come across as scripted and the investigations are done over a large period of time.

I Can't Believe I Wasted my time watching this
bluepearl9520-966-3685487 January 2020
Total waste of time. Thought maybe the documentary makers would have done some more research of the home or the property. Nope. They just stand around asking questions to the air.

Great documentary.. not fake
hazelangeleyesxo20 July 2020
If you're a skeptic, you're always going to find a reason to call shows like this "fake". I've seen ppl post that anyone on the crew could have slammed the doors, made the noises, the footsteps, the voices etc.. Again, if you're a skeptic, that's always going to be the claim. For me, it comes down to whether you trust the people doing the investigating or not. These are respected paranormal investigators who have literally given their lives to this field as well as their reputations. When these specific investigators say there was nobody else there, either you believe them because you trust them, or you don't. I've been following the work of these guys and I do trust them. If you don't, or don't believe in this topic, you're always going to find a "logical explanation" and dismiss what's happening as somehow setup. So don't watch or go to a haunted location to seek the truth with your own eyes and ears.

Too many camera angles
TheBaerIII27 December 2019
You're not going to convince me that you're doing an investigation into the paranormal when you have four different camera angles of one person talking, and none of the angles show the other three cameras or their operators. There's lots of cameras for sure, but they're recording the actors, not the environment.

I thought for sure I was going to be presented with outrageous evidence in conclusion, thus revealing itself to be a fake documentary. Instead, I'm left with underwhelming findings and lame 'reenactments' that are common with this sort of stuff.

In conclusion, I think this movie/episode of this team is very scripted and boring.

They need CPS, not a ghost hunter
kayhansen11 April 2022
The home owner tells the ghost "researcher" that during renovation ten years prior, they'd come across what seemed to be human remains. 'Is that important?' She wonders. When asked if they'd notified anyone of their find she said no, they'd just reburied the remains and then stayed clear of the area.

Then she shows the researcher a crawl space they'd discovered while trying to do some plumbing. The home owner says she'd sent her adolescent kids into the crawl space where they'd discovered a man and woman's shoe. That seemed a bit freaky, so the homeowners sealed up the way into the crawl space and told the kids to stay out.

So this is where I pretty much gave up on the show. When the researcher went into crawl space to check it out, we discover that it's littered with vintage broken glass, tin cans and other nasty, rusty, sharp things. Excuse me! But who sends their kids into a dank, dark, dirty hole filled with nasty, rusty, sharp things ... and, frankly, God knows what else.

'Have fun, kids. Mind that you don't get tetanus.'

I hope the ghost gets 'em.

Fantastic production!!
joshnoon29 November 2019
Hi Prozac I'm wondering if you've ever considered an alternative theory to explain the amazing phenomena you encounter. Instead of the traditional Victorian idea that ghosts are dead people. Maybe an idea from a respected Paranormal expert named "Paul Eno" that this is more of a Quantum mechanical Multiverse phenomenon. Anyway your passion and talent is undeniable so keep them coming please :)

An Abrupt About Face
markd-855365 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There is a complete shift toward the end of the film. In an unprecedented move, Prozac locks his fellow investigators out of the house and in true Geraldo Rivera fashion comes up with nothing.

Playing Hide And Seek With a Dead Kid?
courtneypedersen18 April 2022
The beginning of this "documentary" wasn't too bad. But then about halfway through, activity suddenly ramps up with no explanation as to why. Oh and the "psychic medium" they brought in that was scared by everything? How is she good at her job if she's afraid of every little bump and creak?

And why was the crew so focused on Victor? Why didn't they do more research into the history of the house and it's previous owners? Stupid question, they didn't do research so they could fake the evidence.

This "documentary" was very clearly scripted and poorly acted. And I'm sorry, but what kind of idiot do you have to be to try to play hide and seek with a dead person??? And this Shippy moron was actually yanking back shower curtains like he was going to suddenly see a dead child hiding there. I'm pretty sure Shippy wouldn't know a real ghost even if it bit him.

You might enjoy this if you go into it thinking it's a "mockumentary" or a found footage horror movie because this sure isn't a true investigation and there's no proof that the house is haunted other than things that can easily be faked.
