Lame mixed-combo video, Eastern style
lor_9 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I always wondered how Bud Lee continued his porn career after losing his meal ticket Hyapatia Lee. Besides marrying Asia Carrera (and she's also gone as his breadwinner) he manages to carry on, but CONCUBINE, shot during his Asia period, is prime evidence of his hit or miss approach.

Lame story line has an American business man Wayne (poorly played by Chris Cannon when a big star was needed for the role) traveling to Hong Kong to ink a big client (Mike Horner, reliable as usual in a non-sex assignment) to a contract.

The local custom is not to transact any business the first day, so visitor Wayne is treated to entertainment on Horner's tab, consisting of sexy girls servicing him or stimulating his voyeuristic tendencies.

Horner, using an indeterminate accent (his name suggests he's Dutch) even narrates briefly the role of the concubine in an historical context, and in particular Wayne is smitten with Tan as his potential concubine. After humping and watching a lot, he ends up taking the lass home with him (and having a long flight to ponder "some 'splaining" to his busty wife Kristi Myst when he arrives), after having outwitted the evil Horner.

The gals are pretty but the budget is low, so auteur Lee fails to generate the atmospherics that would qualify this throwaway video as entertainment. Peculiar casting of Victoria Style in the title role as Oriental beauty Tan is a big mistake: she's a Latina/Mulatto bombshell who sticks out like a sore thumb next to authentic co-stars Charmane Star and Kamiko. Exacerbating the error, Lee throws in another Latina, Catalina, to the Hong Kong mix -you mean to say he couldn't find any modern-day Mai Lins or Linda Wongs in the state of California to cast? Obviously using Asia Carrera would have exceeded his budget cap.
