Script and Circumstances were not Ideal
timesthechanrm11 May 2021
Engin is a marvelous actor. The script and circumstances were not what he deserved. This was a script written with Engin in mind - he is the headliner. In a nutshell the series title is misleading. The last 15 episodes were markedly better, but the mid-way point of this story really leaves much to be desired. Beren is a wonderful little actress and shined brightly as Melek. The actors that play Halise, Güven, and Kavruk were solid throughout. Additions to the cast for the last 15 episodes were stellar. Those additions added immeasurably to the quality of the show. For those of you watching this series stay the course - the last 15 episodes give you Sancar's metamorphosis. Hold your nose from 16 through 36 and it will be alright...the agony ends and the series improves.

Great and wonderful cast, perfectly chosen! However, the story is very slow, boring, and dull.

Great and wonderful cast. Actors are perfectly chosen! However, the story is very slow, boring, and dull. The scenario keeps on repeating itself from one episode to another. Sometimes Engin's performance is overdoing/faking it when getting angry. The story should have been wrapped up in season 1, but instead it is repeating itself in season 2. Poor writing and directing! 2 stars for writing! 9 stars for the actors performance!

Disappointing!
kkaterhyne28 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, although all the actors in the show did an amazing job, the main characters (Nare, Sancar, Mavi, Gediz, and Melek) are the best! The first season was okay, the storyline was very engaging and entertaining, I enjoyed watching every episode. But guys, season 2 didn't make justice to its processor because:

* Some new characters were added to the show but they are not even developed throughout the episodes. At least for me, they are quite irrelevant.

* There are a whole bunch of unnecessary scenes that makes the show boring.

* Nare's and Gediz's characters were "erased" from the show.

***Gediz lost his life in a sudden car accident and the actress that played Nare's role had to leave, so in order to continue with the show the producers decided to destroy her character. She was portrayed as a bad, selfish mother that ran away to a different country leaving her child behind, but that doesn't even makes sense since the audience knows that Nare will never do something like that. This makes the show look so stupid and unrealistic. Nare and Gediz definitely should've a different ending.

* The producers added Mavi's character as a new love interest for Sancar. What bothers me the most is the fact that Sancar was deeply in love with Nare and after she "disappeared" he literally falls in love with Mavi after a few episodes. Where's the fervent love he used to have for her? He forgot Nare pretty fast and again, that doesn't make sense because Sancar supposedly wasn't able to forget her in approximately 9 years, how can he forget her in just a month? (This is stated by Sancar's mother in one of the episodes).

Listen, I know a happy ending was probably not the best ending for Nare's and Sancar's "toxic" love-story but the producers really ruined the show. I'm giving 5/10 just because the first season is worth to watch.

Ps: this is my opinion, and no..I don't hate the actors nor their characters, I just truly consider that the storyline was poorly written after episode(s) 34+. The show has a very talented cast yet the producers didn't (and are not taking) advantage of that.

Engin - Tuba sizzle but are let down by a weak story
spingirl-1232 August 2021
First of all, I love Engin Akyurek - he was brilliant in Fatmagul and Kara Para Ask. He should have passed on this series. The storyline is paper-thin and is stretched into silly contortions. I couldn't watch series 1 beyond two episodes. Engin and Neslihan have zero chemistry. All Neslihan did was weep copiously. I guess that passes as acting for her. The supporting actors over-act beyond belief and the villians are completely one-dimensional.

Series 2 improves with the addition of Tuba. She and Engin have great chemistry - but again the script is weak and the story just drags on. Kid is great. Pass on this one and re-watch Fatmagul for that Engin magic.

Now sancar literally got stabbed, shot AND THROWN OFF A CLIFF and he's still alive and well but gediz died cause of a car crash??? Who ever wrote this show is dumb and instead of waiting for neslihan to get better you portray her as a bad mom who left her daughter and went off to another country and completely get rid of her character and replaced her with some irrelevant character. No nare no show she's literally in the name 🤷‍♀️ also who the hell first meets and gets married and has a kid in like 15 episodes.. no way sancar forgot about nare that easily.

Toxic Love Story - Great Casts
veenarajee31 May 2020
Chanced upon this show and decided to give it a shot after reading the reviews.

The main leads in the TV just doesn't cut it for me, Nare and Gediz seem to have better chemistry. Unlike Nare and Sancar, their love affair is so toxic from the very beginning. A man who has trust issues isn't worth the time. Nare has gone through so much and she's constantly miserable whereas Sancar gets away justifying his every action. He clearly has issues and doesn't treat all the women in his life well (Nare, menekshe, his mum) and comes across narcissistic always wanting things his way. Not to mention his unpredictable temperament. Sick of watching the way he treats Nare, constantly inflicting pain and dictating her life.

It's ok for a show, but in reality a relationship like this is toxic in every level and extremely damaging to the kid growing up with parents like them. There's nothing epic about their love, I only see misery. I would like to see Nare end up with Gidez who is always there by her side and gives her all that she needs (trust, love, care, comfort, understanding) most importantly he loves and appreciates her. That's just what Nare needs, that likely won't happen so I'll eventually stop watching at some point because I'm only watching for Nare and Gediz who makes the show worthwhile.

#NareandGediz pls

Sad
Dorissa_Remi22 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If a protagonist leaves the series, you cannot just get another actress and continue with previously so developed plot as if nothing has happened. Especially if the whole plot revolves around her (Ambassador's DAUGHTER). And then you "try" to go in the same direction as before but all you do is destroy the story more and more. What you do when the main actor/actress leaves the series is, YOU END THE SERIES. Because the audience you already lost. But instead you chose to destroy the main character Nare by portraying her as a bad mother, by taking away from her the only thing she had left, her motherhood, just so you don't end the series. By portraying her as a selfish person that destroys other people's lives just to get the "Ambassador's daughter" without the daughter. From all the possible endings, you chose her to leave her daughter which is the one things she would never do. Anyone who watched the series would know that Nare would never do that. It is disappointing, to watch something good turn into something so bad.

Engin Akyürek a lyrical actor by author Cathie Hubert
cathiehubertfr21 June 2021
Portrait.

Engin Akyürek, through his spine-shivering acting, brings the story to a whole different level.

Sefirin Kizi Series 2019/2020 by Emre Kabakusak ( Engin as Sancar Efeoglu).

So much has been said about the actor Engin Akyürek. His characters appear at first sight as quite ordinary: cop, peasant, businessman, artist, blacksmith, student and are very much anchored into Turkey everyday life and culture. The stories often talk about social and political issues (Kara papa Ask, Fatmagül, Bir bulut Olsam, Olene Kadar ) with lots of suspense and usually sustained by a passionate epic love story. Intelligent, well built screenplays and filming, indeed a good entertaining cinema.

However, Engin Akyürek, through his spine-shivering acting, brings the story to a whole different level. Filmmakers and cameramen sense it no doubt, who come close to his face, to try and capture the internal shifts of his heart, what comes out of him, when he is acting.

To pay tribute to his talent, you need to take the dust off the words, carve them like you would for gold, come closer, celebrate on paper his shimmering presence.

He is a free spirit in the world of Turkish series. Originally from Ankara, no doubt a child of his own culture, yet, his soul-searching acting is universal, he speaks to each of us. His latest serie, Sefirin Kizi ( the ambassador's daughter) by Emra Kabakusak reveals the actor evolution and psychological maturity.

In my eyes, and very much so in Serifrin Kizi, he takes after the great actors of the silent movie era (Joan of Arc by Karl Dreyer is a good example). Those movies beautifully expressed the character's inner feelings, in a visual poetic way. This is exactly what Engin does, this is his secret. His eyes speak of joy, love, pain, doubt, despair, anger. Intense, he blazes out of the screen, and suddenly, what seemed ordinary or familiar, turns into shimmering light. It takes a star to carry a close up.

I want to portray how he gracefully takes us with him into such emotional depths and how those feelings, like shooting stars, fly from the film set, straight into our heart, leaving us speechless.

Watching him act, is like reading a landscape. Lyrical when he performs, in his acting I see windy islands, rivers, steep slopes, spring softness, dark thunders, sinking boats, storms, starry skies. When Sancar is happy, his soul shines, when he sinks into murderous fury, the dark lakes of his eyes speak of death.

The slightest palpitation on his face, a shiver on his lip and he is back into torment or joy. His whisper a birdsong, his screaming pain, an earth tremor. The distance between him and us so thin, he is a fabulous interpreter of the human soul. He sheds a light on our vulnerability, emotions, torments, what we, vulnerable human beings feel, when confronted to others, when we love.

I do not know where his vital energy, his inner strength come from. Maybe in his life, away from the camera, when he is silent, looking into his soul, maybe when he catches the sound of the wind in the trees, the song of the sea or when he walks with his own people, catching feelings and moods around him. Whatever he does, the result on the screen is mesmerising. He comes back to us, ardent, passionate dark and glowing. A generous, outstanding actor. Visual poet, he sails in the high winds, taking us in his wake.

34 amazing episodes of delight and 15 disgusting episodes of disappointment
omih-4319319 August 2021
The story of how 35 episodes show legendary love, and then sharply change the man's shoes and turn him into a traitor and henpecked. After the show with a young and strong actress, from whose play the goosebumps are put on a weak and sluggish one, who absolutely does not know how to give out emotions. A huge disappointment from the finale and the last 15 episodes. A very ugly and stupid move of the writers. From the former delightful show The Ambassador's Daughter is not nothing left, just a disgusting aftertaste.

Engin's Acting Is OUTSTANDING
monicasalib16 February 2021
I seriously have no words for Engin's acting. I repeat scenes just to see every single detail of how he portrays Sancar Efe! Engin's acting is phenomenal - his eyes say it all. The love, anger, guilt, apology, worry, etc. He has this ability to translate a super strong man that has a very soft heart in the most genuine way.

Also - get ready to hear one of the best backgroud music <3

Story aside with all the backstage drama and Neslihan's behaviour, I'm totally supporting every single crew member who has been working super hard to keep the show going despite these obstacles :)

SPOLIER ALERT (typical man egotistical drama)
hamnasajid-746392 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Starting with the cast , it is amazing. Undoubtedly Neslihan was great , Engin a very good actor. What I really dislike about the show is how they showed that from the very first day it was Sancar's fault , he was forgiven so easily by Nare. I mean you can't be with a guy who does such a thing to you. When she forgave him , he couldn't control himself , created problems after problems for nare due to which she was left with no choice but to leave her daughter and marry Gediz JUST TO GET SANCAR OUT OF JAIL and again he blames her for leaving instead of looking where he went wrong. Hate how writer showed nare as the bad one when she leaves and all character sort of start saying bad things about her. SINCE NESLIHAN LEFT THE SHOW SHOULD HAVE ENDED. PERIODT.

Bad script
italypadua21 April 2020
They say this is a love story about two people who love each other very much . I haven't seen a single love scene between the main actors. Where's the love? It's time to tell Neslihan Atagul that her hair and her clothes are like an actress from a low budget movie.

I couldn't keep watching this nonsense
nisrinalslamat25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's a very stupid series I couldn't even finish it to the end, it doesn't make any sense!!!

How could a woman be so strong, so smart, so pretty and young; and be so naive at the same time and fall in love with a man who's so stupid with a backward mentality and he's so aggressive.

Let's say that she was too young and love happened, but after what he did to her how could she trust her daughter with him...with his stupid mentality and his contradictions!!!

The series is full with unreal characters.

Who made this series must think again about women's rights , they must stop encouraging violence against women in the name of love!!!!

Engin Akyurek's acting is amazing
vsavova-2446910 January 2020
Very touching story, told perfectly well by both Engin Akyurek and Neslihan Atagul! It seems to me that the deep abyss between the two characters is a result of all the unspoken secrets, misunderstood signs and words and above all the lack of trust that poisons the great love between them. Will they find a bridge to meet again and strength to overcome the evilness and temptations that surround them - can't wait to figure that out! A deep bow to the amazing acting of Engin Akyurek! I can sense in all the ways the pain Sancar feels, the destructive fight he has with his doubts and the intense and strong love he feels to Nare! And even though he is most of the time rude and unrestrained, at moments even brutal, I feel with all my heart that Sancar is in fact very kind and loving person, totally devoted to the ones he cares about. All that I read in Engin's eyes, which can literally tell stories without a single word! Well done!

They ruined the show
trandafirionut-2494715 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After the 37 episode (original) they could kill Nare and the story would look much better or simply give the Nare part to Tuba and the show could run better. It's not bad at all after the changes but who saw the series from the start knows that Neslihan was the perfect for the part. Tuba is a very good actress also but I don't understand why was the script changed so much; the show after the 37' episode could be named any other way that "Sefirin Kizi". The old crew is better that the new one. Even the music doesn't match anymore to the new cast. I think everybody misses Gediz and his family stories...overall I watched it to the last episode just to see the final.

Enjoyable series along with its turbulence in changes.
redeem_er13 March 2021
The series was in a state of conflict/confusion in the mid 30s episodes, and the scenario was slow and repetitive. The characters are always enjoyable to watch. The story is more interesting now with Tuba in the series. She added a new spice, glow, and warmth to Sefirin Kizi.

Season one was amazing, season 2 is boring
nayayayayayya27 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this show in season one. The acting was clear and everything was so realistic and amazing. Then the beggining of season 2 came. Killing off akin was a huge mistake. They killed of the main antagonist and made the entire show worse. Then brining in his long lost sister without any backstory. Sahra was such a beautiful character but they barely explained her relation with akin and their backstories. We know nothing about sahra or akin. And they literally wouldn't shut up about sahras parents even though we knew nothing. Sahra and Gediz love story was so predictable but i shipped them a lot. I used to ship nare and gediz but when sahra came my opinion changed. Gediz barely had any reaction to sahras death even though their chemistry was amazing. Gediz and Sahra were endgame but they were so focused on nare and sancars toxic relationship. Gediz understood sahra and they should've kept her so Gediz would've changed and stopped loving nare. They made sahra and gedizs love so one sided and complicated. And then they made gediz shoot sahra! gediz wouldn't ever do that. gediz was sensitive and he made sahra calm. and after sahra survived they killed her off! they didn't even let gediz talk to her before she died. It was so useless. They keep on adding more useless details and doing the opposite of what everyone wants. Sahra and Gediz should've stayed together and they should've just ended the series by keeping sancar and nare together and having them get married and just ending it there. They keep on dragging it on. Just finish with it! This is an edit a few weeks later. They ended up killing of gediz! and it was so pointless how he died. a car crash seriously. and now they added a random new character and they're completely forgetting about rhe main character nare. this show became garbage

Never disappointed by Engin Akyurek and Tuba Buyukustun 👍🏻
jellybon11 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Already near the end of the series and my opinion written below, in October 2020, has not changed a bit. A complex story addressed to a mature audience continued even if the lead actress withdrew from the project for health reasons. The introduction of a new partner for Engin Akyurek was made gradually from episode 36. The one who was his partner in the series Kara Para Ask, Tuba Büyüküstün, agreed to enter the series with a new role. For the fans of the two actors it was a huge joy, who wanted for a long time to see the two playing together again. The new character, Mavi (Blue), appears out of nowhere in Sancar's life, at a time when he needed a warm and understanding soul the most. The storm left behind by Nare had devastated everything in Sancar's heart, and little Melek could not calm the fire that was burning his soul. Mavi's character hides some secrets that will be revealed gradually. A new love story, this time between two mature people, each wounded by a tumultuous past, with tender scenes between the two protagonists, scenes that were almost completely missing from the first part of the series, will remind the audience that life goes on, that we cannot be slaves of the past, and even more so, the slaves of long-gone ancestral customs. The Sancar-Mavi relationship will develop harmoniously and naturally. Those who still long for the frantic scenes between Sancar and Nare, who never foresaw anything good, will have to endure or move to another TV channel. Tuba and Engin have a phenomenal chemistry that hasn't changed at all since 6 years. Sancar has learned a lot from his past, tries his best to become a better man, Melek is adorable, and Mavi has the talent to bring out the best in he. The other characters will also evolve in various directions. What can be concluded is that life can surprise you and nothing that has happened in the past should keep you in place. Who does not understand this means that he/she is just born, or the level of intelligence is somewhere below the knee. Watch the series patiently and with an open mind.

Disappointment from 37 on
dznitaarapovic21 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can understand that sometimes actors don't \can't stay through the whole show, BUT if it's a main character, if the whole story is based on that person and you even name the show after that character, you can't just make them "disappear" like nothing before even happened and magically replace her. You had all conditions to end this show after Sancar got out from the prison (I honestly think it would be just more and more boring even if she stayed), but no, you'd rather remove 2 people that made this whole story and put some ?girl? just so you could make another 10?20? episodes.

I'm not sure what you think about people who watched this, but we're not sheep and we won't watch just anything you put to story like this and no, we're not interested in what is going to happen with new people. No Gediz, no Nare, no show.

IThinkThat9 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was just Nare and Gediz for me. I love the cast but the Sancar character is just blah, boring and infuriating , he wouldn't back down to his issues and in the end He got the happy endin, Nare was in therapy and Gediz is dead. In my head Gediz took Nare and left. He made her feel like she belonged without forcing her to do anything or restraining her.
