Annaatthe was marketed as a family drama with high emotion so that's exactly what I went in expecting. Well it wasn't a family drama, rather a FAMILY MELODRAMA. I was never really sure whether I was watching a movie or a TV serial. Every emotion is amped up, every dialogue is delivered in a melodramatic way and followed by loud melodramatic music and still you feel nothing for the characters, at least I didn't. The screenplay is pretty much non-existent. Things happen randomly with underwritten charcters. I didn't mind Siva redoing the old troupes from his and others' films but the problem is they never really make any sense. And, yet again, a film fails to find a legit villain who can actually pose a threat to the Superstar. Keerthy Suresh has nothing to do other than cry and Nayanthara has not even that. And finally coming to Rajinikanth, it's no doubt he's past his peak but the man still carries the film, all alone, with his energy and charisma. You can see him give everything he can but it's not enough to save this weak film. It's evident that he still has more to offer for Tamil cinema but the sad reality is the filmmakers just don't know what to do with this legend anymore.

I'm a huge fan of Thalaivar but it's the directors who spoils the fame of superstar, dear shiva honestly speaking this movie is similar to visvasam it's a huge disappointment after a long wait so much of curiosity it's a big big disappointment but enjoyed seeing my Thalaivar.
Dear shiva & team movie directing is not a joke, get to know better & never put our Thalaivar & good actors down with this kind of story, rating for your story & screenplay is not even 2.

Annaatthe would've been a Superhit if it was released in 2000. I really wasn't excited for this movie since I heard the director is Siva, and he don't really have a good record on movies reaching the hype it created. The trailer itself seemed like a part of Ajith's Viswasam (which was surprisingly turned to be a good if you choose to watch a movie with your family but not so enjoyable if you decide to watch watch with your friends) so this Annaatthe seemed like Viswasam and I watched it with my family and even they didn't seemed to like it.
I can tell you the positive part of the film but I don't like to take it long.
In short, the film quality is bad as if it is made in 2000 (except camera), the action sequences are overrated and BGM is good but it's not enough for you to book a ticket to watch it. If you're a die hard fan of Rajinikanth and never missed his movies, then go watch and you still have a chance to be disappointed, and if you're not a fan, just want to watch it since you have all the time in the world and need a time pass movie - skip this movie. Yes, skip it. Not worth it.
Over all it's a passable movie or can be watched if it premieres in television or on OTT platform.

This might be somewhat ominous, but I really hope Rajnikanth makes at least one more movie. Because if unfortunately he were to pass away with 'this' being his last film, man what an unfortunately horrible closing it would be.
I'll be honest... As someone who very religiously loves the medium of cinema, Siva is a director for whom I have ZERO respect. This is a guy who makes movies horrible enough to set the country back by at least a decade... and that is an opinion I very strongly hold. Siva is the epitome of what's wrong with the Indian cinema industry and why it is (in its mainstream) arguably one of the worst from around the world.
I went into this movie (First Day First Show of course) expecting it to be bad. But man, was I in for a shock when I realized that it could not just be bad, but painfully worse than what I had gone in expecting. I don't think I have ever watched a Rajnikanth movie and had the thought of it being the worst Rajnikanth movie ever until today. Not just once, but so many times during the movie, I was trying to compare it with other horrible Rajnikanth movies like Baabaa, Lingaa and Darbar and 2.0.... Nope, this was almost objectively worse in every regard.
Everything about the movie was horrible. Sadly enough, that includes Rajni himself. What happened to the dude that he had to entertain this garbage in what is an iconic acting career. Rajnikanth has never been an exceptional actor, but he usually does enough to not let his flaws show. But this movie, just somehow manages to make Rajnikanth look like an absolute joke, and even worse, make Nayanthara and Prakashraj, who are arguably better thespians, look pathetic. I don't care so much for Keerthi Suresh, because prior experiences with her movies have led me to believe that she's just bad at this.
The story is beyond parody, the screenplay is over-the-top, the dialogues were painful, the action is lame, the VFX is laughable, the music was intrusive and tasteless and the sentiments (the worst offender of them all) were cringe.
Annaatthe is a movie that one should be embarrased to be associated with. This is the type of brain rot that needs to be purged in its entirety from Indian Cinema if it is ever to be taken seriously in the world stage. Unfortunately I don't see it happening very soon, because I'm pretty sure that in a day or two, this review will be drowning amidst a plethora of 10- star reviews from die hard Rajni fans who only care about seeing their beloved superstar's ageing face in bucket-loads of makeup. If you really love Rajnikanth, then it should pain you to see the man taken for a joke. And even though it is unlikely, I hope this movie bombs so hard that Siva just disappears into thin air like the talentless hack he is.

Cliche ? Too much cliche ? Way too much cliche ? Unbearable cliche, thats what it is... terrible screen play all around a sister sentiment, which is again ridiculous. If siva could make such a worse movie so much put on budget and with such a wonderful cast, he should stop making movies. And Rajni, he is killing all fans by doing these useless movies with all hopeless directors...

Just Felt as if I watched 4 serials straight. Being a Fan of Rajnikanth, I'm really disappointed. The story plot is weak, the comedy is cringe, the emotions are unnecessary. The film is just a mixture of Kadaikutty Singam, Viswaasam and Namma Veetu Pillai, but it's bad.

It is all a mixed up story from top to bottom. A spoon from Vedhalam, A spoon from Visvaasam, A spoon from Thiruppaachi , A spoon from Every tamil cinema which includes Big brother and Sister kind of movies. I highly recommend you all to watch Jai Bhim instead. This kinda sucks to the core. Don't ever go to theatres to waste all your savings money. If they tell you the movie is full of sentiments just kick them out coz you'll never cry.. Utter flop movie.. worst and worst.

I feel very disappointed to see the film critics gave negative reviews to the film but the audience gave the mixed response whether it's good or bad but I am worried that it will may fail to impress the audience. 1st half is quite slow and bit bored but the 2nd half is full of mass and sentiment.
The film has lack of emotional depth and the theatre moments' and the script's poor writing in this big-budget star vehicle is a massive disappointment. The screenplay is predictable.
The film is made with the budget of 180 crore. If its positive, it can collect 500 crore but if it negative, it will collect like 200-350 crore that will surely flop.
We will see whether its success or not.
Verdict: Decent Entertainer With An Underwhelming Drama.

There is absolutely nothing good about this movie, even some of the "intense/clever" plot twists are so ridiculous it is funny.
The first half is useless (literally remove it from the movie and it doesn't affect the plot) and cringeworthy, it also under-utilised prakashraj.
The female lead is the typical damsel in distress, family pleaser stereotype- but wait, when it is convenient for the plot, she isn't...?
0 character depth to any villian, and movie creates villians out of thin air in 5 seconds.
The music is depressingly bad.
In short, it is an insult to the viewers intelligence, and is also disrespectful- because the expectation seems to be that we will consume and trash thrown at us.

Don't know why this movie is rated less than 5. Superstar's perfomance was awesome. But Khushboo's and Meena's guest role was short and lagging. Prakash Raj's character deserved more time. Keerthi Suresh's acting was good. Soori's comedies were missing. INTERVAL PUNCH WAS THE BEST. SOO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THE CLIMAX, WHICH WAS ENDED SOON, WITHOUT A HAPPY ENDING. SHOULD HAVE SHOWN A HAPPY PICTURE OF FULLY FAMILY INCLUDING KEERTHI + HER HUSBAND, NAYANTHARA + RAJINI, JOINING AT THEIR HOME; RATHER THAN LAGGING THE FIRST HALF.
It's high time Rajini acts his age..

Rajini's legacy is soo great.. He should stop romancing actress who are younger than his daughters.. Its disgusting and embarrassing to watch on screen.. Last time I enjoyed a Rajini movie was in 2005 for Chandramukhi.. Even enthiran, 2.0 were too much for his age.. There is no story anymore.. Its just a pathetic excuse to be on screen.. Mr. Rajnikant has received Dada Saheb Phalke award now. He should be more responsible now. This movie is a blather. It has a story and making that's worthy of an Indian television soap. It's awkward to see the actor pairing with someone of his daughter's age. It was such a waste of time to watch this movie.

I dont know from where I should start. How can Rajnikant, a man ruling Indian film Industry since ages can make such blunders. Was he not knowing about SIVA and his stupid movies, did he not read or listen the script properly.....Because the film is all about what we are watching since last 50 years, village dropback, big family, village festival, factionalism, uninteresting villians, brother-sister bond, unwanted emotions, anti gravity actions, stupid or uncatchy songs. Nothing has changed. The only positive aspect of the film is RAJNI SIR'S DEDICATION AND ADRENALINE RUSH in him. He made it sure that by end of the play there should be no one to blame him for performance and energy. To Director SIVA - Please bann yourself or we people have to do something about you and that will be not good for you.

Sorry to say, annathe is not a movie but a tv serial like Roja on Sun tv, where one can find stupid logic, poor sentiments and story less scenes.
