Not farewell quite yet.

As 'Modern Family' approaches its conclusion the episodes have begun to take on more pathos, and this was a lovely example.

The scene at the end with Jay and Claire was lovely, combined with the broader humour of the Mitch/Cam story.

I think people are too quick to bash this show, I believe it is wrapping things up rather nicely.

Modern Paris Family

Warning: Spoilers
Since i'm french, i was glad to have all the main cast or almost in Paris. It was really delicious to see Cam and Fizbeau fighting even if it was too short. And Claire was between two others guys, litterally. Meanwhile, Jay's story was less interesting especially . It was cool to have him the first seasons, but in the final seasons, he became boring. It should have been Luke in this episode. Too bad since this is the third story in a row he does not appear in. And for Mitchell, even if he was hilarious with his french behavior, his conclusion was too simple.

Last family trip 😭

This episode was full of funny storylines with Phil, Claire, Mitch, Cam, Gloria, Manny and Jay. Jay's speech at the end was beautiful.

It was very good.

Sweet

Each of the characters have solid plot lines for themselves. While they're nothing special and this episode doesn't offer anything groundbreaking, it's a fun sweet story with some nice moments like claire and jay in the end. I'm also happy that the jokes didn't rely merely on french stereotypes, and the french people are portrayed as quite normal. While this episode could have offered a lot more, being filmed in paris, I still enjoyed it a lot.

Warning: Spoilers
I love itt!! It's heartwarming and has a very beautiful ending. But i they can do a little bit better. You know, maybe Fizbo could make Fizbeau end his career so he would not say goodbye to Fizbo.

This episode is fine but I hate how they wrote Claire.

Warning: Spoilers
As soon as Phil showed up in Paris with a plan in store, I was excited for a classic Phil and Claire role playing episode with Julia and her lover's cousin Claude instead of Clive. But what ended up happening was Claire trying to visit her old favorite cafe where a previous lover of Claire's was waiting for her.

I was fine with the joke despite it being predictable, but what made it bad is that Phil had this amazing plan for the two of them, and we never got to see it in action because Claire said she wanted them to spend time with the ex-lover too because "she felt bad for him". How about feeling bad for your husband who had to play third wheel with you? When the roles flipped and Phil and the lover got along with one another, Claire wanted to leave and kept making mean jokes about the two of them. This close to the end of the show, I didn't want to see a Claire is bad and let's laugh at her episode, I want to see Claire and Phil continue to be one of the best married couple in sitcom history.

Other than that, Cam fighting with the French Clown version of himself, Mitchell trying to be French, and Gloria and Manny trying to prevent Jay from finding out the truth about the awards were all fine plotlines.

Ah Oui Paris

Warning: Spoilers
I always loved the Modern Family episodes where they travel to places, gives the viewers a chance to see something more than the scenes shot in their individual homes.

Loved the chemistry between Phil and Guy. Loved the end scene where Jay gives that speech and of course Mitchell trying to hide his nationality.

One thing I always find cringe (apologies), is Americans trying to speak French.

I noticed as well that Lily and Claire's kids were missing and that it was only Manny. My favorite character must be Gloria but I did miss her in this episode, even though she was in it. Big fan of Cameron as well but not as much of Fizbo.

The end credits with the black and white scenes were touching.

Had its moments

This had its moments but basically bad and getting very twee.

They seem to be able to fly half way round the world on mass for a pretty weak episode - also first time I have noticed the blatant product placement.

Horrendous
Fry-TheMovieReviewer14 February 2020
It just keeps getting worse and worse. If you see past critical assessments from prior episodes, you will notice there is a continuous trend in the way that they are writing the series; it almost seems as I am predicting what they'll do next but tenfold worse.

Please turn the machines off!
Gernot S.15 February 2020
Besides the jokes misfiring - old news -, this one is weirdly racist. I think the insult lies in the fact that the writers can't come up with anything original - Mitchell's "act" taking the cake. Would the French be a once-suppressed minority, this one would be compared with blackface.

There´s something that I really hate of these episode
jorgeleyvamoreno25 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Can we discuss the fact that Claire was prepared to cheeat on Phill if Phill didn´t tock that plane????

I've never been on board with the way Claire teases Phill every chance she gets, but ... cheat on him? That's not fair to phil.

I allways think that Phill is the best character on these show, and the one that makes yo belibe on the inocence of a man that likes to follow his dreams, loves with all his heart and take care of all his family, it's really unfair for him.

Thats the reason i give these rate to these episode, they allways want to thate Phill as a Dumb but he´s the smarter caracter in every single way.
