Warm and suttle plot.
anubhutiajit18 February 2023
Overwhelmed with sad ends, slow pace, boring story lines. I guess we all were struggling to watch something new, interesting and when I was about to go on hiatus from Kdrama, I came across Lee Sun Kyun, he is the iconic Ajjushi of My Mister new drama and couldn't stop myself from watching Diary of a Prosecutor and this was a complete knock out, there are no main leads, it is a story of team of Prosecutors and their clients. Each character is unique and how they blend into each other.

The existence of dirty office politics and also reflects team effort and love for each other. Those small small things that makes our hearts melts......this one is definitely recommended.

An excellent drama!!

Great "feel good" series!

I wasn't sure at first how I liked this series but I stuck with it because of actor Sun Kyun-Lee who is one of my favorites. He and the series did not disappoint me! Soon I felt like part of the team. They were funny and yet complex. Each person had a backstory which helped you understand why they were the way they were. I fell in love with each character and didn't want it to end!!!

I didn't want this to end!!

I really didn't want this to end. Ensemble cast Kdramas are the best. I'm always amazed at how good Korean actors can be and it's way better when we can watch more than two actors as in romance dramas etc. This one was exactly my cup of tea, funny, emotional, heartwarming, humane, witty, and no unnecessary romance.

Even though I loved it I did find it a bit slow, as in most cases, so I watched it slightly sped up (the fact that Netflix has that option changed my life lol).

The video game parts were so cute and unexpected!

As a side note, I'm still perplexed at how mean some people can be at a work place in Korea, not sure if it's exaggerated for dramatic purposes but even after having watched tons of kdramas I'm never comfortable watching it. Even if it's as minor as it was in this one.

Overall I really enjoyed this show, thanks to everyone involved in the production! Especially since it looks like they shot this in the freezing cold!

I came across this show totally randomly and decided to give it a try and I was rewarded for it. I absolutely love the style of narration and the slice of life feel to the episodes. The humour is always laugh out loud funny and the casting is so perfect. I miss all of the prosecutors of team 2 in Jinyoung :( Best team ever !! Especially love Prosecutor Sun Woong <3

Fresh, fun and heartwarming drama
nofitatjam16 April 2021
I am starting getting bored of Kdrama recently until i found this drama. I was so suprised with the story and the director really did a great job with the scenes.

At first, i thougt it is a heavy drama but turn out not at all.

It is funny, fresh yet heartwarming. No slapstic comedy like most drama had nowadays.

I really love this and this kind of drama should get bigger attention. The casts are amazing and top notch. Their chemistries are believable. Watch this and see it for yourself.

Better than Attorney Woo!
delerme18 April 2023
Don't get me wrong, I love "Attorney Woo" but il is more of a classic K drama with a legal background, fantasy characters that entertain and criminal cases that center on specific aspects of the korean society.

What made my wife pick "Diary of a prosecutor", I don't know, the netflix trailer is nothing special, the description is like a myriad other legal k dramas but boy, she hit paydirt with that one!

What's to like?

  • the best part is the team of prosecutors, you really care for them, even the initially not very friendly one, they are deeply human and the team they form is really special and heartwarming.

  • the description of the prosecutor hierarchy and legal aspect of the korean society really gives you a vision unlike any other legal k drama. In "Attorney Woo", you guess they had legal advisors, here, I could swear the writers were prosecutors, some things you just cannit invent.

  • it diverges from the "one episode, one case" template, the stories span several episodes, the situations evolve much more naturally, you really felle immersed in the everyday life of a prosecutor.

  • this is one of the few k dramas that has no weak moment and you wish there were more episodes. Most of the time, you see that the drama does not have enough momentum for 16 or 20 episodes and the show seems kind of diluted to get to the end. Not here, I could easily have watched a score more episodes.

What could have been better?

  • the private life of the prosecutors is skimmed over, like an afterthought, you get episodes about several of them but, outside of these episodes, you don't really get to know their personal life (but you don't really care because their relations inside the team are so much fun)
  • you don't get resolutions of every case, some legal stories seem to just float away, if you like to get an answer to every question, this is not the show for you.

  • the final episode is not really a final episode, you don't feel like everything gets a satisfying resolution, you could easily have added at least one episode.

To sum it up, if you want a really heartwarming (even better than "hometown cha cha"), well documented k drama that really teaches you things about korean society that other k drama don't really show as well, this is the one for you. Don't miss it, you won't regret watching it!

Much to enjoy
wheatley-202309 June 2023
The script bubbles with humour. The drama shines with a character driven storyline populated with well-drawn characters . The interactions between those characters bristle with conflict. Every relationship is multi-layered and entirely real.

The acting is always of a high standard.

None of this will surprise those of you that have discovered the joys of Korean drama.

The story offers an insight into the life of a Korean prosecutor, both the good and the bad. As a Brit I am in no position to judge the accuracy of the portrayal, but it feels real, especially as uncomfortable truths are not ducked.

That does mean that an exciting thriller story line is eschewed in favour of truth. The downside of that is that this drama does not offer excitement. But instead it offers much else.

Very Boring and Slow
PalmBeachG5 March 2023
I am actually surprised at the high ratings and reviews because I found this drama very boring and slow going. I watched all the way through episode 8 and quit watching which is extremely rate for me - I usually always finish something I begin. Each episode was actually about a different case that comes up, whether it is about school bullying, an illegal gambling house, etc. There was no entertaining romance that I saw, except the younger cute prosecutor that kept getting his date cancelled because of an overload of work and overtime. I usually like lawyer shows; just too slow for me. Would rather spend my time elsewhere.

Ten and should be higher. SPOILERS
DaytonaBob12 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have become a little addicted to Korean rom coms, dramas, melodramas and ever a rom com science fiction one with alternate universes and time travel. Well done.

This show could run for another 16 episodes. It was well written and sometimes funny sometimes deadly serious, and always entertaining. I have to constantly stop to read the subtitles but prefer those over badly dubbed English voices.

This show also shows how law works in Korea. VERY interesting.

The serious revolves around the trials and tribulations of a group of prosecutors in a small city in the South of Korea. NOT SEOUL.

This particular year brought in a very unlikeable but highly efficient prosecutor FROM Seoul who is sent to this small city as punishment for daring to go after high lever politicians relatives and getting them found guilty. She and the main male character clash nonstop.

The main character is so well done I want more of him and all the others.

I was disappointed in how they ended up portraying a chief prosecutor in the end as corrupt. He was such a staunch law and order character. The main characters return just seemed unlikely when he returned to his small city job.

Over all this is a great series and I know Korean TV rarely does it but I hope they bring back the show.

STILL the best Korean show in history is EXTRAORDINAY ATTORNEY WOO. Good what an incredible series. So popular they ARE going to do a second and probably 3rd series.

Forgettable characters, biased writing
divemabini15 May 2023
First off, try and remember any of the characters a month from now. Even 2 weeks from now. I bet you won't. And you won't remember, or care, about the story either.

As for the story, it was clearly written by a bunch of folks born and raised in Seoul, evidenced by the complete biased approach they take to one of the lead characters. Pretty much, she can do no wrong. And the locals and prosecutors who've been with the office for a while can do no right. And they're written like back-country buffoons.

Worse, the writers try to "balance" the lead character's strengths by making her appear fallible or weak time and time again, only to have a "GOTCHA!" reveal during the last 4 minutes of every episode. Where it is magically revealed that she was right all along, and everyone else is an idiot. It happens over and over and over, that you stop paying any attention to the first 95% of each episode. Read a book or play some Sudoku with it playing in the background. Doesn't matter what. Just tune in at the very end and you'll find out what truly happened that week. Lazy writing by the creators, using the same schtick ad nauseum, because they can't write a cohesive episode from start to finish.

And in typical fashion, the last episode of the series takes on such a completely different tone you swear it must have been written by a totally different person. Doesn't matter much in this instance, as it is anti-climactic, unfulfilling, and yawn inducing.

Boring characters. Boring cases. Boring relationships. Truly a waste of some really well-known actors, who can't save this sinking ship.

Boring day without a goal.
naorsalat27 August 2023
The work is very slow and boring.

The series deceives you at the beginning, only to end up moving from the tenth episode until you see the last ten minutes that you would expect, just as silly, biased, and unconvincing as it is.

An act that is biased towards women coming from the city to the country.

She is a woman who is almost like God does not make mistakes, and as for the workers in the countryside, they are a group of clowns and fools who do not have any competence at work, led by the hero who only works in solving trivial issues. They work in solving trivial issues.

There is no story linking the episodes of the series. There is no goal waiting to be achieved. The hero is an idiot who spends the series apologizing to the heroine who spends the series insulting him.

Boring romance is almost non-existent. The screenplay and dialogue are weak and clichéd, and there is no innovation.

The author has been able to transform the actors who are famous for their ability to perform well into actors who look like his boring writing.

Boring day without a goal.
