Promising but ultimately disappointing
becbecface25 April 2023
The first half of this movie is mind numbing. The plot drags and most of the scenes feel like pointless filler. If it was up to me the first half would be condensed to 15 minutes. I would have stopped the movie had I not been at the cinema. We decided to stick it out and it did pick up. Things started to get interesting enough that the acting and dialogue didn't get in the way of the intrigue. The ending (the last 5 minutes or so) however really disappointed. It was frustrating and the exciting drama from moments before fell apart.

I don't regret going to see the movie. It had a great sequence using clever shots to hide information and interesting uses of showing where events took place in the timeline. There were a few points that genuinely felt like great film but that just made the rest of the point all the more disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this movie but I would be interested in seeing the director's future work. The plot isn't anything new but the directing does put some life into it and there was enough to keep me curious about what would happen.

So maybe don't run to see this but keep an open mind for what may come next!

Decent story

So, when I rate movies I don't factor in the size of crew or cost, just the movie as presented. For that reason, I gave it a three. Some of the directing, acting, and dialogue comes across as pretty amateurish. I just want to be fair here for anyone coming in expecting to see a 7/10 rated movie here.

That out of the way, it looks like one person wrote, directed, and starred in it. A young one at that. Given that fact, it really is an excellent effort, and I'm sure tons more to come. The story was pretty compelling, and I wasn't able to predict the ending, so it's already doing better than a lot of films.

Good efforts for first time director

Showcasing the South Australian outback and local upcoming talent. Robert Bell and Julie Quick were the standouts for me. The cinematography is great and the original soundtrack suits the tension filled atmosphere. We should encourage more South Australian filmmakers by funding local films.

Alex Whitrow took a risk being writer producer and actor but kudos to him on putting together a cast and crew and doing all the hard work to get a full length feature film off the ground

I hope to see Robert Bell do more film work in the future. He has a certain charisma on film that makes him very watchable.
