Worse Than a High School Project
davidmstrobel7 April 2020
Dear god...

Hopefully I can spare any other people the dull headache this "movie" is. Wooden acting, inappropriate music choices, dialogue so unnatural George Lucas would object.

This project didn't even hit the basics of camera work: the operator kept auto exposure on, leaving faces underexposed because of a bright spot in the frame. He often didn't bother to use critical focus, resulting in an actor's eyes appearing blurry while his ear remained crystal clear. It earned a single star because at least some of the time whoever was in charge of sound design at least used the correct mic and you could mostly hear the actors. Mostly.

This dreck could have been an examination of Forrest's astonishing rise from private to general and his revolutionary cavalry tactics, or his heinous role in the Fort Pillow Massacre, or his leadership in the early Klan, or even his puzzling turn toward peace between black and white. No. Instead we get a cure for insomnia.

Avoid at all costs. In the immortal words of Mad Magazine, "Blecch."

Funniest film in years...

...but not deliberately The direction, script, production are all utterly abysmal but still far better than the acting. Some scenes even had the voice appearing to be dubbed over. One scene where Forrest was being recruited had the recruitment officer stumbling over his lines and seemingly reading them. Avoid like the plague. Even a school play has more merit than this.

That's really all you need to know about the historical accuracy. Worst thing I have ever seen.

Terrible

This is the worst film I have seen. I don't know where to start. Everyone and everything were awful. Was this meant to be a comedy? I really don't quite know.

Absolutely awful. A waste of time.

Do not even both with this trash. A high school media project would be more entertaining and a better production. Just 3 minutes into this is enough to show what a horrible production this is. Not a single positive thing I can say about this pile of garbage.

This is just about the worst movie, I have ever seen. No acting at all, the caracters just say their lines. An advice: Don't watch this movie, unless you can do it at no cost.

I've had to reconnect with my IMDb account just to warn against watching this!

A tempting topic that proposes to cover a notorious individual and a brutal portion of history. But at the first moment of dialogue the bubble of potential is brutally burst by a sequence of dreadfully wooden acting. You'd think that perhaps this is an attempt to ironically introduce Forrest's origin backstory as a sort of ridiculous made up fable. But this drivel is not in fact a clever device but the pinnacle of the directors ambition for the rest of the film! It's as if the actors are blind reading the script on a first take. The other discomfort is that it appears to be shot at a 30fps more common of TV format instead of the more romantic and usual 24/25fps used for film. Just watch it to learn how not to make a film. Believe me when I warn that it doesn't improve from the first minute in.

So bad...it's brilliant!

I had to watch the first 10 minutes to see if it might just get better. But it didn't. The acting was as wooden as the trees. the music choice was a complete mystery. I have to say I have seen school plays that had a higher standard of acting. I felt embarrassed for those taking part.

Yes, it's amateur. But Hollywood would NEVER allow such a film!
tanyatzatmary15 March 2021
It's for that reason alone I'm inclined to give it a solid 10. This man was a war hero, whether you were north or south everyone agreed. Until recently, when American's seem disgusted by their own history and hellbent on destroying it, tearing down statues like wild animals or ISIS.

This is better than Hollywood garbage because it touches on something important, something Hollywood is too scared to talk about. Whilst the actors are volunteers and reenactors taking their hobby to the next level seeing the orchestration is lovely. Whoever directed it and filmed it though need to truly consider taking courses in the subject, this is below a first year university student project in quality. But bravo for the bravery lads!
