Warm and touching, but a little bit vague.
eva-3957023 August 2021
This movie obviously is quite good after i finished it. The plot is simple and fast, and cute with its humor elements . The main character brings the emotion out successfully to the audiences. Basically, this is a good movie. However, some scenes of the movie is quite vague for me. It didn't gave enough explanations for audience to understand. Although this is quite pity for me, it still a movie that makes people happy and relax.

An Italian romantic comedy
DogePelis201524 August 2021
It's not a bad movie, but it's pretty generic and forgettable; the plot is passable and the actors are not charismatic; Italians are capable of making better films.

Watchable if you can accept girl-stalks-boy kind of romance
witra_as7 September 2021
Quirky Italian romance movie from Alice Filippi used simple approach and delicate cinematography to make it easy to watch. If you can accept some cringeworthy ideas about girl-stalks-boy, you'll appreciate Francesconi's charismatic and sweet presence here.

Been done before better
fjmsoftware30 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Basically an Italian "Cinderella meets The Fault In Our Stars", but more superficial and comedic, or trying to be part rom-com or something. Couldn't watch it without fast-forwarding, it's just not that well made or immersive, though it has its moments.

Another level
kosmasp22 December 2021
Being self aware and showing that every other turn you make ... well that can get annoying too. It is a fine line the movie walks, when it tells us that it isn't a movie because ... well I reckon it tries to sell you reality. Not hating on the idea and overall I'd say it does a good job with that. That beginning is a bit much though - at least for my taste.

After that it gives in to the "ugly duckling" metaphor - or whatever else you feel applies that is similar. I had this on my watchlist and saw that a sequel popped up, so I thought, oh good that I waited, now I watch both movies. Unfortunately there seems to be another one coming, which I have to rate whenever that comes out. Let's just say that the second one takes away quite a bit of what happens here. It almost entirely makes the whole drama feel like ... it was fake.

Yes I know this is a movie, but remember what I wrote before? There we go. Anyway, this is a fun romantic ride with a couple of neat twists ... suspend your disbelief and just go with it.

In spite of the terrible premise I did enjoy this first film in a trilogy.
cgvsluis13 June 2022
This was one of the most ridiculous premises that I have come across in awhile. I kind of missed all of the illness based romances that were so popular for a time, with the exception of Fault in Our Stars (which was decent).

This is the story of Marta, an orphaned ugly duckling who never became a swam and is most likely going to die young because she has Cystic Fibrosis (which I knew as a medical professional even though they never specifically called it that in the film). Marta is very goal driven and is always making to do lists for her and her two best friends (Frederica and Jacopo) who live with her in the city home she inherited from her deceased parents.

Marta, Frederica and Jacopo are very colorful and quirky characters, but they are very close friends who all accompany Marta to her many doctor appointments and treatments. Marta decides she wants to date a hot guy and she sets her target on Arturo. She then proceeds to stalk him both in person and via cyber channels.

When Marta is caught by Arturo he asks what she wants to leave him alone...she says one dinner and he agrees. Only it ends up being dinner with his rich parents during which Marta is brutally honest and ends up walking out. Feeling bad, Arturo asks her out on a real date during which he plays the question game with Marta...five questions nothing but the truth.

By the end of the date, Arturo is charmed and the two start dating in earnest...only Marta doesn't tell Arturo about her illness which puts her at risk.

Completely unbelievable but surprisingly colorful and charming. I ended up liking this film in spite of my preconceived prejudices.

Loved hearing the Italian, which I think is the most beautiful language in the world and I have appreciated quirky characters since Amelie...so this is a soft recommendation from me, but definitely for a certain audience.

I didn't know at the time I watched this film that it was part of a trilogy, but this is the first of three films with Marta and her two best friends.

AWFULLY CREEPY
Sisu2220 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The protagonist is unsuferable, unlikable and just straight up creepy to say the least. Her friends have no actual personality and seem to exist only to help her. If she was a man stalking, sniffing and oggling a female counterpart this movie would be a thriller. Try Hard, annoying and overall stupid movie, the acting is deplorable. Would like my time watching this atrocity back.

Cute Tear Jerker, Not Cringey as Trailer Suggests
fayandray20 August 2021
This movie pleasantly surprised me. I was expecting it to be super cringey, in the same vein as "My Name Is Doris", but it ended up being sweet, actually. While I was hoping for more of a buildup as to why they enjoy each other's company, the fact that the movie was otherwise complete made up for it. Also, totally didn't expect to shed as many tears as I did. While it's not as rewatch worthy as "When Harry Met Sally", I'd still rewatch it one or two more times.

Quite horrible
shiny_cute_star20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I already disliked the main character in the first 10 minutes of the movie. What kind of monster steals someone's phone and then drops it in the toilet and then just decides to flush it? She's obviously a psychopath. Also, what's up with her and her friends being so close and acting like they're actually family in a sense that they feel like the need to bring a baby into the mix to complete the fake "family"? Completely irrational.

It's all about love
suthernstinebelle21 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's good to see that the prettiest girl don't always get the guy.

This movie was cute, loving, tearful, sensitive, & a try love story. I'll definitely be watching this one again. I'd love to see this two actors in another movie.

In reading the reviews, someone said the the friends who helping the character Martar was there only to help her and had no personality. Well, if my parents died, I had an illness, and I had very good friends that was willing to help me, I'd accept the help. Otherwise, where would she have gone.......

It's all about love and I loved it!!

Weird movie
forthatusage31 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The main character is so unlikeable.. She made a mistake while announcing the discount at the store she is working.. and without being responsible she just leave like that to get ready for the date? Having a fatal disease does not give her the excuse to be so selfish and self centered like that.. She also controls everything including her friends.. And surprisingly her friends just follow whatever she says like their world revolves around her..

And the romance between her and the guy is so not believable.. There is no true connection between them.. And just after a few dates he is already in love with her? Too illogical to be enjoyed even for a fiction.

Worst Rom-Com I've Ever Seen
kgulick6 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had me audibly saying "wow this is so bad". The dynamic of the friendship between the 3 best friends is so incredibly weird and not funny whatsoever and their whole subplot is so unnecessary. It's like the two only exist to take care of the third on her every whim. The main character acts like the world revolves around her, and her friends' and love interest's feelings don't matter. She's really unlikeable, and is massively annoying. The main guy love interest is stalked into liking the main character- which seems like harassment, but then he rapidly falls in love with her? What? It's all so bizarre, like a fever dream.

This thing popped up at the end of a viewing...
juanmuscle3 September 2021
And so I gave it a shot! Lol and I loved it, every second of it, I enjoyed it from start to finish! The thing did not let me go nor would I had made any alterations! I thought it to be a seminal work of art tour de force! I loved it I watched it with the English British subs and it was nice , real nice! The main girl character was something I have never seen before , she was just out of this world! I am going to see something else from one of the writers cause I think their was a lot magic underneath the incredible talented thespians and pretty pictures. This was simply thoughtful and kind, adorable and sweet , a real gem, I highly recommend it! Netflix really just pops up so many different things after a viewing , it makes no sense how they pick and choose , its so random and arbitrary but sometimes I just have to marvel at how wonderful it is to be a part of these times! Super super sweet thank-you! (I wanted to add that sometimes , sometimes I guess one thing I learnt from this flix, is that sometimes if you're lucky stalking really does work, esp if you are a super cute cheeky lil' Italian girl with a lot of Moxie! Super cute!)

Must see Italian version
hregisto9 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen some negative reviews and can understand why some people may have different tastes and interpretations. Yes, main character may come across as a bit of a stalker and crazy but if you look deeper you will see an incredible funny, intelligent, goofy, witty and adorable young woman that in spite of so much loss and adversity is capable of staying so positive and passionate. You must watch the original Italian version with subtitles because she is so expressive and for me it makes the whole difference, I laughed so much with her micro expressions and sharp responses. She is so full of life that no wonder one would fall in love with her, truly proof that personality in the end is more important. From now on definitely on my top 10 list of all time. I guess it hits differently for everyone but this movie also reminds me of personal experiences and childhood friendships. I absolutely loved it. It is based on a book written by one of the actresses!

Don't watch the English dub.
keaneye125 January 2022
So much of the main characters adorable personality is lost in the English dubbing the trailer was enough to put me off. In the original Italian she has so much more appeal and this brilliant actress deserves that. She may be impulsive, crossing boundaries, but she is someone given a short time and is desperate to experience as much life as possible. Anyone who cannot get passed that well, you probably wouldn't be a Pedro Almodóvar fan either cause his movies are what I'd compare this too, if not a little more straight forward.

Pleasant Surprisingly Quirky Love Story
Argyle3027 September 2021
Ludovica Is so beautiful and charming, much more of a true beauty than fake Hollywood actresses like Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. Gaja is like a much more beautiful, non-anorexic Ariana Grande. If you enjoyed "She's Out Of My League", you might very much enjoy this movie as well.

Finally a movie that gives hope, well the "sick" girl is not just a trope
vebaemo2 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie thinking "okay, this is one of those where a pure innocent girl who is too good for this world dies due to a chronic illness that has a pretty high life expectancy". I was kinda annoyed that in every of these movies the only dramatic ending they could come up with was death of the "sick girl" and how everyone else reacted to it. It never was about THE "sick girl. She was just an object that leaded to character revelation. You always knew what was coming. (There are exceptions to this rule, but I saw so many of these movies that this is the tendence that I see).

This movie is different. The girl did not die. She had cystic fibrosis and it ends with his boyfriend who finds an experimental treatment to save her. You might say it is fiction, yes that's the point. If it is fiction you can write anything to add hope to your piece. Until there is life there is hope - S. H.

Not everyone with a chronic illness dies, not everyone with stage 4 cancer dies. Many do, many do not. I think that there is room for both types of movies and they could be equally interesting. I really feel like that today's world has its knowledge about cancer and other chronic illnesses from such movies or youtube. And think that if you have a chronic illness you are bedbound and cannot have a normal life unless you "break the rules" and "risk your life". This is due to all these "sick girl" movies (and poor education) that perpetuate the idea that 1. Sick people a bedbound, 2. They die in their teens. Yes this happens, but it is not the tendence. Thank you for reading my rant. Give it a watch, it is such a great movie with on point music.
