Could have been better...
OhDavidMyCaptain2 August 2021
...but could have been much, much worse, considering the supposed budget of $65,000 for a movie like this.

The story manages to be captivating enough even if it isn't completely original. The mystery element is compelling enough even if it seems simple by the end. The effects they managed to pull off on this kind of budget are beyond impressive.

The movie has its faults but the only thing that really seems to drag it downward is the acting. Our leading man is by far the worst but there isn't much acting here that I would call adequate. With some better actors this could have been a 6, maybe even a 7, but the amateur hour was nonsense. I understand that it is difficult to find the best actors on such a low budget but surely there was SOMEBODY better out there.

Anyway, this director shows promise and I look forward to seeing where he goes from here.

Watchable movie, but odd storyline...
paul_haakonsen27 June 2021
I sat down to watch the 2020 movie "Behemoth" from director Peter Szewczyk solely because it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen before. Sure, I didn't even know what the movie was about, nor had I actually ever heard about it prior to watching it. I found the movie's cover interesting, and of course I ended up watching it.

While "Behemoth" was watchable, it was a movie whose title really made no sense in context of what the storyline was about. So I must admit that I didn't really get the meaning of the movie's title. As for the storyline, well, while it was watchable, it wasn't an outstanding movie. Now, don't get me wrong, because it is not a boring movie. It was just, however, a movie that made very little sense and was feeling more like a series of randomly shot segments put together to make a single movie. It sort of felt like writers Derrick Ligas and Peter Szewczyk set out to accomplish a bit more than they were actually capable of delivering with the movie.

The acting in the movie was actually fair enough, despite the actors and actresses having very little in terms of a proper script, storyline or characters to work with. They had a good ensemble of actors and actresses in the movie.

Visually then "Behemoth" was an interesting movie. But special effects and visual effects could only do so much for a story that was driven by a fairly bland storyline. I liked the creature design and the way that the creatures were brought to life on the screen.

Now, I wasn't a particular fan of the storyline, but the movie was definitely watchable, albeit not a memorable movie, nor a movie that I will ever be sitting down to watch a second time.

I am rating "Behemoth" a five out of ten stars.

not for me
trashgang9 December 2021
Saw the trailer somewhere on a horror review site and thought, yep, I give it a try.

To be honest, the trailer was better then the movie. Not that much happens and if you want the best you have to wait until the last 20 minutes.

What i did like even as it had a lot of CGI was the effects used. Clearly that a lot of money went to that department. But still, if your flick is all about blah blah quit a lot then the effects doesn't save the movie.

So overall I guess it will have a lot of lovers and haters. Just to inform y'all, it wasn't my thing.

Gore 1,5/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 1/5 Comedy 0/5.

How did it get 5.7?
mechellecranford14 October 2021
I have watched 38 min and the only reason is because I spent $5 for the rental. I keep hoping it will get better. The acting is bad, the story is bad. I just don't get it. If I could leave 0 stars, I would have.

Trash movie from trash director
Online_Movie_Enjoyer23 June 2022
Wow can we collectively decide to stop supporting and throwing money at people and projects that don't deserve it? This was a sorry excuse for a horror movie, and certainly didn't do anything new or exciting. All it did was steal my time and money, similarly to the director nicknamed "Colourbleed" who has robbed and scammed people with their other projects, as well as literally scammed them by stealing their money through his scam of an NFT project (he soon abandoned) called fuzzy felons. This dude is trash and his movies are worse.

No WAY this is a 5 movie

HORRIBLE acting. The worst monster ever. Ridiculous plot! Every scene was just stupid! I can't believe anyone is trying to say this is a decent movie!

I've watched dozens of B-movies and this stacks up with the worst!

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. Nothing here worth watching.

Missed potential
fatamorgana-4020819 September 2021
I was excited for this movie. The trailer really had me thinking I was in for a treat. But all the highlights were in the trailer and the rest of the movie felt flat. The writing missed the mark for me and the acting was off. I really wanted to like this movie too because the idea was good.

Yes, it's a behemoth stupid!
kwihui13 December 2022
I dislike films that are supposedly dark in the night where you must struggle to see anything!

My eyes are so strained from it I get very irritated!

The plot may have been okay had it not edited too darkly. It's no longer necessary for most movies which are made to be darkened evening or in the pitch black of the night to be shot. There are editing tools, programs, to darkened the scene, however, when there's just bits of lightness here and there - it is ridiculously the program is overkill!

I have not finished watching this film! Turned me off when entire film is turned to the viewer, to imagine what the heck is happening!

I don't recommend this to anyone, unless you have a Superman eyes, it will waste your time!

Thanks.👎🏻

Invisible category
besztmen14 August 2023
This is a category where screenwriters would be better off looking for other work. Animation was not bad. It's worthless garbage. Unfortunately, there are more and more of these kinds of movies that make no sense. It didn't make sense to make it. Unfortunately it was a waste of time and money. It would be nice if these writers who wrote it didn't pick up a pen or a typewriter. Not a recommended category. They had to rewind the film a lot. There are many silly parts. You watch it and there's nothing in it that makes sense. The actors were very amateurish. And of course the old jersey couldn't be left out of the film. Typical.

Freaky, suspenseful fun
seanmalcock31 August 2021
Right out of the gate it jump scared me and I liked how it followed a very human story. Real scenes, humanity laid bare sometimes, acted thoughtfully and with great visual production.

Great vfx aside, lighting was on point and the pacing was well done.

Thanks for the ride guys!

Poor man's Constantine...
tonybugliobmx1 October 2021
Sort of like a poor man's Constantine, but without the benefit of a star to carry the movie. Surprisingly slick for an indie horror. The script could have been better, and the acting was really uneven, but the pace, vfx, and bad guy made up for it. Starts slow but picks up a lot of steam by the end.

Feels like a TV show
RedQueenIMDB25 July 2023
Not a bad effort, but not what I'm looking for when I'm ready to settle into a movie either. The premise was old, guy's daughter dies due to industrial pollution & he wants to stop the polluting. Fair enough. But then we get into character development. Yawn. So at this point, I'm only still in it for the lurking henchmen, who could have been scarier. In fact, it's never scary at all, except for maybe one jump when the (epic) devil appears in the hallucination at the end. Had the entire film been like that I would have liked it. But it was a hum drum drama with lame characters instead. I will give props though for a good evil corporate bad guy, a likable everyday hero, & surprisingly great visuals in the final hallucination.

So in summary, it really lacked punch of any kind, dragged & just took too long to reach the great but brief denoument with a cute Fallen twist in the final shot.

An enjoyable if slightly flawed effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder28 August 2021
Stuck in a troubling situation, man and his friends decide to confront his former boss of a chemical company about their pollution problems affecting his daughter, but when the situation escalates and they take him hostage, it brings about more than just corporate secrets as their hellish situation continues.

Overall, there's quite a lot to like with this one. Among the films' more impressive features is the strong central setup involving the search for the truth involving the conspiracy that's being laid out. Without much knowledge but just enough to go on the idea of his child's ill-health and the strange chemical company cover-up that seems to be the source of the sickness and infection that's plaguing his family, the start to this one comes off quite nicely when brought up alongside the ongoing martial strife and the quest to uncover the truth that eventually leads to their confrontation that brings about the kidnapping that brings about the glorious second half to this one. As the group tries to make sense of the situation that continually grows out of hand with every second they're at the motel, this one grows increasingly fun with a lot to like. With the trippy visuals not only brought about by the influenced suggestion of their kidnapped host trying to play mind-games to get the upper hand as well as accidental ingestion of recreational drug instead of medicinal, the Satanic images that come about, are kept nicely in line with the growing realization of what's going on with the chaos of the situation. Featuring creature attacks, a series of double-crosses, and a fantastic reveal of the truth behind their captive, there's so much to like about this part of the film. That all works nicely on top of the fact that there's an impressive amount of effects work for such a low-budget film of this type. With a series of creatures on the loose here, including deformed and garish goats, a massive articulated spider-like being, and numerous other beings that show up throughout the night in an effort to further the mind-games being played, that it's usually hard to tell the CGI creations from the practical effects displayed here. As well, the graphic gore here, with head-smashes, arms cut open with glass shards, a decapitation, and much more, there are quite a lot to like with this one that manages to hold it up over its few minor flaws. This one doesn't have much in the way of flaws but there are some issues. The biggest factor with this one is the possibility of being let down by the cryptic nature of the conversations carried out during the kidnapping and holding him hostage. While the whole idea of the experience is to be shrouded in mystery considering the ending reveal that comes about, since the surprise is so heavily hinted the obvious nature of the twist makes the cryptic mind-games and conversations feel like padding at times. The other flaw here is the aforementioned obvious twist in the finale where it's used so frequently that there's no real surprise when it's revealed, but it's not that detrimental overall.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Entertaining
david-yorke15 July 2021
For a low budget film the cast and crew have made an entertaining and ambitious movie with some good VFX and with an emotional journey at the centre of it.

Congrats, I look forward to your next piece.

Brilliant!
AceFreeideas16 November 2021
Extra-low budget, and good enough acting, but those weaknesses make the overall result even more impressive.

The events are absurdly over-the-top, but the meaning of those events are delightfully open to interpretation.

Very imaginative. Loved it.

Mixed results
thatrealjerseymike12 October 2021
At times, this movie looks and feels like the slickest horror film you've seen all year. Amazing VFX, awesome sound design, and a cool score. But then some bad acting or crappy dialogue breaks the spell. For a no-budget horror, it mostly works, so I'd say it's worth a watch.

A Really Good Movie for Entertainment
janisjs7-183-8441203 September 2022
This was a good classical monster movie, fun for just getting away from it all. It was entertaining, scary and kept my attention throughout. Good acting as well. No swear words, no sex except kissing and almost no violance-- just one big adventure. And plenty of beautiful forest scenes. This is one movie I would like to see on a big screen, at least bigger than my tablet. But it is still worth the watch on small screen. Sound quality was good and image too. This goes to show that you don't need to see a great Hoolywood movie to be entertained. A TV movie like this is just as good or better. In fact the newer movies coming out are often way too violent, too many swear words and too much gore. But this movie is different and you can watch it relaxed but with enough tension to want to watch it until the end.

Fun watch.
dlmyst-298135 February 2023
Indie movie with all the right tropes to keep you interested throughout the whole film. The way everything gets weaved together for the finale was really interesting. Given you can tell where the movie was headed but it was still fun to see it happen. Even if some of the scenes don't play out the way you thought it would go. However, the actors did their jobs and they were believable. I wish they make a sequel with the daughter as the main character. It would be interesting to see the sins of the father affecting his child. Given the movie premise about big pharma and how they're poisoning the world didn't fall on deaf ears.

In evil we ... trust(?)
kosmasp9 January 2024
No pun intended of course. And let's be clear from the start: I am not saying that evil is good or anything of that nature. We always remember that we watch movies and I am talking about whatever happens in this and not real life. Of course things that are not happening in real life either. Movies are really good as an escape - we can forget about our problems.

And dive into problems other people have - especially with dealing with evil. I did not know what to expect with a title like that, but I like to be surprised and I don't like to tell others what the story is going to be (there are other places here that delve into that). Having said all that: the movie is a predictable, but it does look mighty fine ... and the acting is at least decent! Especially if you consider the fact that it is low budget ... so suspend your disbelief and go with the flow ...
